Sure thing. It sucks that when you're on,its like 2AM here.
I have absolutely no idea how to upload something on NBR, so ill upload it too rapidshare or something.
-
2AM?!? Man you're dedicated
I'm on lucnh now,(actually late for work) but i've some performance threads bookmarked and i'll link them later for a little refinement
-
I can't sleep so Im just browsing through my tech/football sites on my iPod.
-
my 9800 gs can play HL2 at 1900x1200 at very high with very good fps, I think is almost or same as a 9800 gt
-
You can only upload bmp, doc, gif, jpe, jpeg, jpg, pdf, png, psd, txt, and zip files. -
my 8400 GT can play Counter Strike on full high....
-
Resolution?......
-
Thanks crash, added spreadsheet in a zip file.
-
-
Very nice, that would give people better idea of what they're expecting from card they're going to get. Keep up the good work!
-
The NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M is low-end.
-
Hmm?
........ -
Wow... Very impressive. Are these mostly estimates though?
-
Its okay for nOObs but it has many faults, especially when it comes to HL2 and CSS. All those card could probably max it, i can almost max it on the laptop in my spec
-
-
you've gotta be kidding me! even 9600M GT is not that good?! but that's the best HP dv5 customizable laptops could offer! gaming laptops are too expansive for a college student, now...
-
An X3100 can do medium settings in HL2 and CS:S at a lower res.
Check the vid on youtube of the X3100 playing on high, it's a slideshow, although it should run better when not recording with fraps so i'd assume medium settings @ WXGA should be smooth. -
nice chart but you missed out the 8400m gt with GDDR3 ram. it will play left 4dead on high and crysis on medium and half life 2 and CSS preetty much maxed with 2x AA and nt sure about cod 5 but cod 4 will run medium
-
Thats all good, but at what res?
Wow, i really under-estimated a lot of cards. Thanks Willy S, rep for you. -
Nice. It's good to see real world results from regular users. I've generally done my GPU comparisons on tomshardware via:
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gaming-graphics-charts-q3-2008/benchmarks,30.html
AND
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card,2064-7.html
But this is definitely a good option as well. -
Ouch, I really can't compete with 7000 scores. Oh well, at least this one is more accesible.
-
Somethin jus ain't right about them benchmarks:\
This one is absolutely rediculous:
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gaming-graphics-charts-q3-2008/Crysis-v1-21,747.html
And people whine about notebookcheck -
My 8400M GS GDDR3 runs CS:S and HL2 on all high (w/o AA) at WXGA. Left 4 Dead runs at all high except medium shader (w/o AA) at WXGA. Maybe you can tweak the chart a bit?
-
9200 gs ddr2 runs cod4 at 1024x768 on ultra at 20-25 fps with AA off, shodows off, bullet marks off, smoke softening off. small details, so it maintains the overall look.
with shadows and bullets on, it will run high settings at the same res and FPS.
crysis should be changes to "doesnt run" on the 9200 gs, because even on lowest settings with lowest res it still only gets 15 fps tops. average around 10-12. dropping to 6 in heavy situations.
HL2, CS:S all run high res and high detail nicely, with very few drops in FPS. hardly ever drops below 18.
i will try to do screenies of CoD for the non believers if asked nicely -
A nice chart.
+rep for all your trouble while creating this.
-
Nice chart, pretty useful. It seems I have overestimated several cards... +rep
Oh, and I'd suggest uploading the Excel table in Excel 2003 format (.xls), since many people do not have Office 2007. -
-
8400m GS WXGA @ default clocks:
CS:S = high with abit of AA
HL2 = med - high
L4D = med
COD4 = low - med
Crysis = ultra low
WoW = high to ultra high -
Thanks ff, I'll try and update it soon.
Just came back from a day of parasailing and kinda worn out. -
Parasailing?!! Austrailia sounds like so much fun... aside from the spiders that can eat your dog
When the chart gets a little more refined you should pm chaz abut stickying this as the new "can my notebook run it thread", or at least adding the chart to the old one. -
8600M GT (DDR3) Fallout 3 settings : 1280x800 resolution / HDR effect / High settings. Average fps on Wasteland : ~27, average fps on tunnels, houses, etc : ~40.

Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
this is a decent chart plasma ............nuff said
-
Now we just need Radeons
Ooh they're already there, that wad fast! -
Now we need Quadros and FireGLs or whatever.
-
Quadros can just refer to their Geforce counterparts.
-
I also went Sandboarding, like here
-
Update: I'm getting my laptop serviced soon and will not be able to work on the chart. Anyone out there want to help?
-
I have a couple of days off so i'll see what i can do
I think your underperforming in HL2 -
Ok done
Anyone who want's to improve on it is more than welcome.Attached Files:

The sand burning you is part of the fun Willy
-
HL2 uses up more resources than CSS. I noticed many spikey frame drop at certain scenes when using the exact same gfx settings. I do not like playing games if the frames like to dip below 30fps. -
What version 8400M GS is that ff? GDDR3 or the DDR2 one?
-
The thing I would recommend would be using alternating colors so it's easiest to trace the chart over. IE. white - light blue - white etc.
Sorry for being a nit picker.
Excellent job! -
gpu clocks and drivers and resolution the same for both and both on external monitor -
I have the GDDR3 version but it shouldnt be very far from GDDR2.
-
Yeah, I never really saw the point in making two different versions of the same card that don't differ too much.
-
It just has higher clocks and runs cooler. GDDR2 had more vRAM if i remember
-
Anyone gaming on the Quadro FX 2700 512MB? I'm looking at the ThinkPad W700 with a T9400 and WUXGA display. I'm curious how it would handle games like WoW, Fallout 3, Sins of a Solar Empire and (eventually) Diablo III.
If I could swing it, I would opt for the FX 3700 1GB instead. How would that compare?
