Modded NVIDIA drivers for Windows

Yes, I noticed that Google Chrome uses the cpu instead the gpu for the videos on youtube or web games. gpuz always shows me that the GPU is in the minimum while the processor is in 70 or 80% of use. no matter how hard you try to activate hardware acceleration, I always get the same result in google chrome.

 

Try h264ify

 

HW acceleration is disabled on FF and Chrome on unsupported hardware. Even my old laptop does use only cpu instead of iGPU.

Something I found out a while ago but recently bumped into again, is that this driver seems to completely removed vulkan compatibility on my laptop. Doom Vulkan would not boot up, PPSSPP and other emulators would not run or recognize the GPU if set to vulkan backend etc...
This does not happen on the official drivers, I haven't test any other modded ones however. You might wanna take a look at it in prepare for 419.67

-Higher FPS [Not significant-(YMMV)] (due to less stuttering I guess you feel that you are playing at higher frame rate )
-Less latency per a frame (Means smoothie gameplay)

If Nvidia doesn't support that GPU any more with the latest version on their site the chances of getting it added and working might not be that great.

After re-boot hit spam F8 to launch prefered actions (Click Disable driver Signing).

It's been a very long time since I've dealt with manually installing drivers on Windows 8.1, but is it like W10 where you need to disable driver signature enforcement before attempting to use mods like this?

 

Exactly... disable driver signature enforcement... install... reboot.... done

I don't use tools... I remove manually... physically pure cleansing since XG drivers doesn't remove them by default so... I clean it

 

No I ment what was showing in alanfox's GitHub page for installation however it's included in his driver pack. It's a cool idea and how it's been coded is really nice.

For me they always worked better than stock drivers. Don't influenciate your opinion in someone else's opinion. Test and see if they work for you. They don't? Use other mods. Simple

I guess maybe mine is lighter than him since he is using more components while mine... is only & purely using what's important for Display Driver
Plus he uses some kind of script.. to be honest I don't trust it

 

When modifying these drivers, be sure to include the "PPC" sub folder from the stock set because it contains the USB Type-C driver for the VirtualLink port on desktop RTX graphics cards.

 

I don't have desktop... only using Laptop so... I never knew that they are important for PC Thanks for reporting! I will include it on the next version

 

It's a newer feature that came out with RTX GPUs so it's understandable that you wouldn't include it. The port is for VR, but it supports DisplayPort output - I've been using a USB-C portable monitor on my RTX 2070.

 

Its relevant for RTX mobile as well since they too support USB C through nvidia instead of Intel if the panel is GSYNC(Implementation may vary from OEM to OEM).

Can this device ID be added to future modded drivers as well? This is for the GTX 870M in the Razer Blade 2014.

Do these work on an old setup (my M18x R1 780m SLI setup)? I remember having to edit some .inf files whenever I had to install NVIDIA drivers off their website.
