@ joluke Im looking to give modded drivers a try, but can you recommend the latest one over say a previous version? Im concerned about performance gimping on nvidias part, though maybe thats not justified? What can I do with the modded drivers to get more performance out of a 1070 mobile?
-
To be honest I don't have issues with this latest release but I'd go for 431.15 if i were u and stay on it. There issues with this driver with Gears 5 but apart from that, it works good for all games i play (dont play gears 5). Give it a go and if you have problems or any other issue, simply run DDU and revert to a previous version. Personally I'm in the latest without any issues. As for performance in a 1070, just install the drivers and set its performance to maximum performance in nvidia control panel and that's it, enjoy itCasowen likes this.
-
Okay, do you have any other recommendations by chance? Is doing DDU first necessary before installing the modified drivers along with any necessary steps/instructions? You can modify MSI afterburner for instance if one does not have it by afterburners default programming, but that didn't make much of a difference for me. Some people have said they have noticed far less stutter and better overclocking Headroom with modded drivers. Do you know anything about this? Had to edit this because speech to text sucks.Last edited: Sep 15, 2019joluke likes this.

Never heard of the benchmark issue and I don't run it, sorry I can't help with it. Apart from that, reboot into recovery mode on windows and run DDU. Reboot back to normal windows and press Automatic on installer and it should install the drivers without any issues just with 2 reboots in between to disable drivers signature check but apart from that you should be good to go
-
Okay, so when I did the second reboot after an automatic installation, it installed, but literally nothing happened. Afterburner doesnt show anything, and DDU says its there, but there doesnt appear to be any way to read whats going on with it. I cant even access my 3D manager settings. So what did I miss?
-
Disable driver signature and run installer again and this time press DIRECT and enable driver signature and reboot. Happened to me too. But do that you should be good to go
-
Is there a special way to install this? I tried to do it over the top of a regular installation and my card reported having no driver installed after boot.
-

You need to disable driver signature enforcement before attempting to install any non-WHQL driver. -
I used the "automatic" mode that allegedly did this for me - does that not work in Windows 10?
-
hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
For it to work you must disable secureboot in you system bios for it to work. I use the same system in my Nahimic 3 driver mods for MSI laptops it does work but SecureBoot must be disabled so that it can flip the protect test signing mode switch which secure boot enabled protects.

What are the downsides to no Secure Boot?
-
hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
Chance of getting a virus in the firmware that boots in action whilst loading an OS, however the golden key for it was leaked a while back plus all the other Intel exploits doesn't matter if it's on or off.
To me it's just another barrier for modded driver installs so mine is disabled.

Disabling it will give you way less headaches in windows..

Hey guys I install the latest modded drivers but after 2 days, the windows install automatic 388 drivers to my pc.
How can I skip the automatic update before the windows start doing that???
Thank you guys -

I've been using this tool to block windows update totally and works great and you select which updates to install manually

Edit: Ups wrong quote! @jaybee83
Edit2: @kolias in order to open microsoft store in case you need to, run sledgehammer and press "E" when asked to temporarily enable windows update to use it. After you are done using microsoft store, close it and close sledgehammer afterwards with "Q" -
yep, sledgehammer is a very nice collection of tools for such purposes

Do these drivers have INF mods for laptops inside them already? I've been using @j95 drivers for my 780M SLI in my M18xR2 but they're a bit old now.
-
i've used them for my P377SM-A with a 880M and my P775DM3-G with a 1080 and never had any issues. Give them a try
-
Looks like no 780M info in the drivers.
-
You can always add your hardware ID to it and give it support
@alanfox2000 provided a easy to use interface for that purpose
https://github.com/alanfox2000/repack_NVIDIAGeforceGraphicsDriver/wiki/Installation -
Hi guys! I am looking for some newer drivers for my gtx 780M. The problem is that the best so far for this GPU are 389.20 and 390.65. I am using this gpu on nvidia optimus with Ivy Bridge cpu. I can install more modern drivers but each time they "wake up" my gtx 780m when I use web browser. Every 8-9 seconds wakes up for one second on full clocks. This is also when I force nvidia control panel to use only integrated gpu.
If you have same gpu + cpu and more modern driver that doesnt wake up dedicated gpu on web browser please let us know. -
@joluke are you able to use your mic after installing dolby home theatre v4?
My GS75 is not accepting any mic input even when i use an external mic. -
Didn't install dolby theater v4. Cant help ya

Installation crashing on open for me
-
Click on automatic
-
Both options crash - says "NVIDIA installer failed" if I use setup.exe directly and not the .bat.
-
Disable driver signature verification and click direct and install. Use DDU first
-
Trying to install both ways crashes for me - I am in test mode manually.
-
No problems here so can't help. Either a visual c redistribute issue. Try to remove all visual c redistributable and reinstall with a AIO package (grab from majorgeeks)
-
Grabbed the Visual C stuff you're talking about - installer just straight up fails. Every other version before this was working fine.
-
Can't reproduce the issue so someone else can help
-
I managed to install it once, then every single time after that is a failure with this exact problem too
Reverting to 436.51 for now since I dont see a solution. -
Weird. They did install normally after running DDU. Dunno what's happening but since it's not my build (I didn't mod the drivers, it was @alanfox2000) can't help. Not much changed in this version so using a previous one won't hurt much
-
I think there is something wrong with the installer maybe ... @alanfox2000
Can't find a way to message him on Github or raise an issue either ...Last edited: Oct 27, 2019 -
hello i am a clevo p870dm-g owner.I bought msi gtx 1070 card.Vbios changed.I tried all the drivers worked only on 375.70. Can you help you want to run more current driver?

For those of you who have crashes, see what was changed in the drivers compared to stock:
https://github.com/alanfox2000/repack_NVIDIAGeforceGraphicsDriver/wiki/What's-Actually-Change
btw i ran DDU and installed these drivers without any issue -
"What's Actually Change" makes no difference if the installer literally won't open ...
-
Well nothing I can do. Open an issue on github and alanfox2000 will help and see it for sure
-
When to press OK for XG tweaks - before driver install or after? It says it's a registry mod, so I'm guessing after the new driver has been installed?
Or does it mod the inf that is then installed with the new driver? -
Are these drivers similar with j95 drivers in terms off instalation? I own a clevo that's why i'm asking.
-
No. These deactivate the driver signature stuff automatically for you and reboot back with it enabled.. Run DDU and when installing these just press the AUTOMATIC button and wait
