Modded NVIDIA drivers for Windows

Complain to @alanfox github. Open a issue there.. I'm just sharing a mod, which is not my own..
Complain to nvidia too... they won't care... your best bet is either use them or not.. up to you

Btw all @alanfox2000 removed were known telemetry stuff... i bet there are unknown connections being done... and nothing we can do about them..

 

The problem is there is no way to raise an issue on his Github.

 

Maybe he should test his driver mods? At least inform about it.

 

Yeah. I just went to his github and he disabled the issues part. Cant open issues about them. Kinda disappointing to me that he delivers without testing or at least have 2 or 3 friends test these drivers for 2 or 3 days then deliver them. Apparently he did test the latest release (441.20) because he took down the files lol

 

@Papusan more reason to miss @j95.. Got any idea where he is? LOL

I never had any issue with @alanfox2000 drivers myself... so... use it or don't... your call on this

 

I was just reading through this thread and was wondering if this would do much help for a NON unlocked vbios card? I have a 980m on win7 in an m6700. Does everyone who uses these drivers have unlocked vbios cards?

These are normal drivers with some tweaks... so yes

 

Be warned that they seem to increase temps by quite a bit. Went from 378.77 official to 441.20 modded with XtremeG tweaks and my 980M is running at least 5C hotter. Not sure if it's the XG tweaks yet. Need to do some more testing. Let me know if you see the same thing if you install without the tweaks.

 

Hm I assumed the de-bloated drivers would actually result in less overhead for the card and improve temps. I'll try it out, for some reason reva statistics server lately is unusable due to cycling crashes of the hook etc so kinda hard to monitor temps while playing now though.

 

Looking to get back into this, has anyone done anysort of benchmarking to determine of performance advantage to regular drivers?

 

XtremeG tweaks aren't used unless you click the button.

I clicked it and I have confirmed that XG's tweaks do in fact increase temperatures by 3-4 on the GPU, which in turn increases also the CPU by 5-6 due to the shared heatsink on my Clevo. Reinstalled the driver without XG and temps immediately dropped.

 

Ok, did you get better performance with XG enabled or did you loose performance?

Minimum fps improved a bit in some games, but I'm currently playing Ni no Kuni Remastered, which didn't see any changes to its horrible engine stuttering. So the palleted textures/extra buffering and other tweaks don't seem to help with any of that. CPU was dipping into throttling in Guild Wars 2, which doesn't usually happen, but due to the higher GPU temperature and shared heatsink it seems it was enough to push it into reds. Was reaching 97C in spikes and maintaining around 95 most of the time which is not something I'm comfortable with on an undervolted stock clocks cpu. This is at 4k resolution though. So I imagine it will be much much lower at 1080p but I don't play at lower than native resolutions.

Kinda off topic but is there just folders I can delete to debloat in the nvidia drivers package once I extract it? Win7 latest for my card are still 441.20 and was going to update for the jedi game, I'm on 441.12. I usually delete the nvtelemetry folder but I probably still have leftover stuff bc when I had a quadro card it was 425.xxx and in my c/nvidia folder it still has that folder, I can't delete it either. DDU doesn't see it bc I've since uninstalled with it but it only did the 436.xxx driver. I need optimus.

And edit: Setup.cfg and in the bottom remove these lines:

Save the Setup.cfg (You can use notepad++ to edit it) and thats it... debloated drivers

This method removes the crappy geforce experience so you'll need to search for updates manually... which is the main point after all

 

I did the procedure in the link and it worked fine for 441.20 win7. Only thing I'd add is that I use optimus so I kept the optimus folder intact in the extracted driver package upon install. Can't say it helped the jedi game it still stutters here and there even on the low settings and 768p.

 

The game is a total crap in terms of performance and optimization

 

Anyone knows if these work for MaxQ processors as well?

 

They should since they are based on stock Nvidia drivers

can I add support for the GT 820M into newest alanfox drivers? I tried the Add HWID button but it only allow for the 840M and up to be added

I didn't find any benefits of using this modded drivers - absolutely 0% gain in terms of performance.
So it could be called placebo.

Nah, if you want to remove unnecessary stuff from nVidia drivers then just use NVClean from Techpowerup instead.

Not exacty, because with your package I need to wait until you share it with community.
With NVClean I could build my own package same day as nVidia provide me newer package.
And those tweak included in your package are basically placebo even for very sensitive apps like 3DMark - there is no performance gains after all.

Your package could be good when there is no alternative solution like NVClean - but today I think it's pointless from my point of view.
Those tweaks might be worth it if they bring some performance gain - on my system it's all placebo.

So no benefits - not worth it - end of story.

PS: NVClean is possibly better, because they left you some choice about what you gonna remove/leave intact etc.
I'm using it for quite a while and never had any issues.

 

Dude, no one is forcing you to wait on a release. Just like no one is forcing you to use the repack driver.
This is the second time i have seen you go on blast and @Falkentyne already asked you to not be rude.

This is a community forum, some users are dedicated to helping others there is no need to then blast them for their hard work. Some people prefer no telemetry etc with their drivers and other enjoy on-click installers.

However is there really a reason to be rude to someone whom is donating their time and effort?

So please treat members with some respect.

 

I'm honest person so why should I really care about anyone - to gain their respect, or to make them happy?
Few pages back someone asked about real benefits of these repacked drivers - for me there're not exist, that's my personal opinion - end of story.
If he willing to try those drivers - fine, if not - fine - I just share my opinion, because few years back there was plenty of those modded drivers from sideband, omega drivers and some other, so people might still think that those will gave them free performance boost over stock - but that's not the case in this particular example.

Another thing. You don't like using repacks? Don't need to say over and over and over that they don't offer you anything. Use stock drivers. Period. God dude...

I've used these from @alanfox2000 and from XtremeG (from their subreddit) and I like them.

Simple right!? Use stock drivers if you don't like them and move on with your life..

I did some benchmarking and I did notice a small 2-5% perf increase in firestrike, timespy, shadow of the tomb raider and far cry 5/ new dawn. This is with the extreme G inf tweak applied.

 

Thing is some system will get a small uplift others will not.

However some people are just quick to shout out snake oil.

Alanfox does a good job made a lovely installer, even allowed me to base my sound card mod on his installer code with modifications for the job it needed to do.

It's just a shame some people will slam someone else free time down for no reason.

Glad you got a small boost. I didn't get a boost however I had a more stable driver and boost control because of the tweaks.

I won't LIE but I wasn't expecting much

I tried them with my acer mx150 laptop and went from 9000 in skydiver to 11000 which is a bigger bump than when I overclock 200mhz

RDR2 now runs at 1080p vs 720p albiet at 25fps but this is so impressive I'm asking the mods to sticky this. Truely impressive and thank you for all your hard work

in fact my old results are not even showing on 3dmark but my new ones are

 

anyone with MSI GE75 raider 8se tried this?
