Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! The last 4 was great! -
Played this at age 6 and was so over it before the day was done.
The gameplay was repetitive and it had fustratingly finicky controls. -
I'm guessing CoD/CS/BF is more your taste? -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
-
I just started DA2 after finally finishing Mass Effect yesterday (which exceeded my expectations). Now I guess I'll get to see what my take on it is. I too spent a lot of time playing Origins. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
-
1) Dialogues: only the Joker are the good ones, the others are cheesy.
2) Bosses: sadly the variety is close to non-existent. If they could've make more (good) variety I think the game would've improved as a whole a lot.
Just my 2 cents. -

And another game I really think is overrated is Portal, I could never understand the hype behind it (yes, it is a very good game, don't get me wrong). -
The hype behind Portal is due IMO to bridging the gap between FPS and Puzzle genres. It could be called a "FPP" game (First Person Puzzle). Generally, puzzle games are 2D like Super Mario Bros or Sonic or third person 3D like Mario Galaxy. This innovation, combined with the neat implementation of the teleporting gun (even though similar concepts existed already in 2D games), made it a very nice game, even though it is very short (I completed it in one afternoon). I'd be pissed if I had paid for Portal, but I got it in the Steam giveaway a while ago.
Portal just shows that you can take already existing concepts, combine them in an original way, and if you do these things well you'll end up with a successful product. -
Look for "Portal Prelude" a full campaign mod that works with Portal. I haven't played much of it yet but looks pretty good.

COD
Everyone LOVES COD because it's so overhyped. Virtually every kid with a game console has COD, because they lack skill to play a better game, knowledge to appreciate a storyline that doesn't involve crazy Hollywood crap, or are just plain ignorant. COD is just a generic shooter game that doesn't have anything to make it new or cool. It's literally just shoot the other person. The realism and graphics are crap, yet every kid I've met says that COD is the most realistic game they've every played and that the graphics are amazing. I think that kids just like overdone lighting effects. Give them all ARMA and let them know that war is hell and you can't hit someone with an assault rifle from across the map in real life. I actually like Halo, because it isn't total cookie-cutter crap.
Crysis 2
Crytek piggybacked on the success of cod by adding a nanosuit and slathering on the lighting effects everywhere. It's basically a shiner COD. It doesn't even have DX11 support.
SC2
Starcraft that's 3d. There wasn't enough new stuff to justify the price. It's fun, but after playing SC for so long, all I got was the same thing with better graphics. -

For me the most overrated game I've ever played has been Braid. By far. The most overrated part of it to me was the story. I honestly don't see how it is so universally praised. To me it was pretentious and nonsensical, seemingly written by an 'artistic' high school student. In short, I thought he tried WAY too hard to be artsy.
-
I just remembered this game, only the older guys will know this!
YouTube - Rise of the Robots trailer -
-
Another one: Bulletstorm.

-
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
As for me:
I recently played Syberia for the first time and was very disappointed - it would have been a good graphic novel, but they failed to realize it as a game in so many ways...
I'll second Braid - I appreciate that the puzzles are often well thought-out and clever, but I just don't have the patience for that kind of platforming. I've heard good things about the story, but sans patience (and sans youtube thanks to the GFW), I haven't ever experienced it.
And another indie game - World of Goo - again, clever, but many levels are too unforgiving for my taste.
Torchlight - a fairly unimpressive hack-and-slash with a better-than-deserved reputation. It can be very irritating trying to click on an enemy to attack since their target boxes aren't very well-aligned to their graphics.
And probably the biggest offender I've come across - Star Wars: KoTOR - I put something like 15 hours into it, by which point I had seen enough of its weak story, linear development, and boring gameplay to know that I didn't want any more to do with it. If it gets better further on, so be it - if it's not good for 15 hours, it's not worth it. -
KOTOR does get better past 15 hours (i.e. after you finish Taris), but not by much. KOTOR 2 was similar.
I am actually replaying KOTOR right now, because I needed a game where "I could leave the brain at the door" and which doesn't need a very fast pace (thus ruling out any multiplayer). -
-
well, my problem is that I don't like MMORPGs in general... so WoW didn't impress me at all...
-
Spores. The creature creation start was interesting, but everything after felt anticlimactic. They were definitely dealing with a concept they just couldn't handle.
I suppose Will Wright's Sim series works because there's a certain zen quality to its game play (even though I never could get into it), but Spores just fell flat for me. It felt like the missions just got smaller and smaller in scope the further it went (eventually into space). -
Whoa i actually found kotor 1-2 really entertaining... i mean if you don't care about the storyline its pretty weak gameplay. But the story pulled me in and had some depth once you got into the game.
far as overrated i personally found the first assassins creed kinda meh have yet to play the 2nd -
Starcraft II
Played for less than 2 weeks until I got bored.
Now I play customs here and there.
I'm much more a C&C type fan when it comes to RTS games. -
since everyone's sharing their opinions
Halo 1,2,3 for me was acceptable, everything after that's just dumb stupid
COD black ops of course ! that game's so so #$*@($
Dragon age 2, thanks to EA
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and Prince of Persia The forgotten sand. I love the others POP though -
Black ops
Zelda Windwaker (what a let down after the e3 video of link and ganondorf fighting in the temple)
Mortal Kombat ps2 series (all 3 were bad... atleast the new one is looking good)
Socom Confrontation
Warhawk
Crysis warhead
Crysis 2
FF8,9,13,14..... waste of money
Assassin's Creed 1(Got the stupid special edition with stupid like altair model... really buggy game)
All the Halo's
RE5
Bulletstorm
Gears of war
Alan Wake
Perfect Dark Zero
the PS3/360 SONIC
Hey You Pikachu!
Marvel VS Capcom 3
Dragon Ball z Raging Blast -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
ahhh c'mon! ff8? its one of the best!
-
Battlefield Bad Company 2... just really bad gameplay in my opinion. Awesome graphics though... the aiming/register on that game was just awful though.
-
Have to agree with FF8, the gameplay may have require you to spend countless hours drawing magic but the story is excellent and the GFX was way a head of its time.
-
-
Well ill let ya have 9,13,14 they were all crap
-
-
As a BIG Starcraft 1 fan (who still plays it today), I'd say my most overrated game I've played is Starcraft II. Single player is fun, multi-player is blahhh
-
FF7 and FFT are still my favorite (I think FFT has the best story of any FF series). -
-
FF14 isn't overrated because not a single person in the whole world could ever rate that game highly. lol. Maybe overhyped though. FF14 was just an outright failure.
-
Final Fantasy 13, I hate the story I hate the casts and their attitudes jeez. The only character I liked was Lightning! the rest were so freaking weakling and useless.
-
What to do? You're clearly a heretic, to the stakes! The rest of the list is perfect, though I didn't know many of them were highly rated...
-
-
I got bored with this before I even got into space. I liked the creature creator portion but beyond that the game had almost zero depth. They really did bite off way more than they could chew.
I feel the same way about most games by Lionhead Studios. Molyneux is REAL good at promising players the world but he never delivers on his "flights of fancy".
There was a tech demo of 'From Dust' that is exactly how I felt B&W should have been.
Oh yeah, Black and White is way overrated imo.
"From Dust" tech demo. Glorious. -
-
On topic: Like some said FFIX is quite bad (possible the worst) along with the joke of FFX-2. Haven't played FFXIII but it was not liked by much, and FFXIV... a total opening fiasco (not sure if the problems have been 'patched' by now). -
Xenogears for PS1 was AWESOME!!!
XenoSaga for PS2 was TERRIBLE!!!! (I do admit, it was made by a different developer; Konami [I think] instead of Square). -
My 2 cents,
And in no real order...
1) Halo
2) FF7
3) WoW
4) Spore
5) Age of Mythology
6) Empire Earth
7) Doom
8) Rock Band
9) Final Fantasy 3
10) Super Mario Bros. 2
11) BloodRayne
12) Fable
13) Empire: Total War
14) Plants vs Zombies
15) BattleOgre
16) Ninja Gaiden
17) Blaster Master
18) Zelda II - Adventures of Link
Yes, I'm all from these era's. I didn't own a PSX, really so I didn't comment on that, really.
Xenogears, to me, was Epic, even if was bogged down with text and 2nd disc was sloppy. Xenosaga, I put it down after 3 hours of running around that space ship. =/ It was published by Namco, granted some of their Tales of series was awesome. I love Tales of Phantasia. -
That was my most favorite game ever! And it was also my first online game I played. Heh, I remember joining my first match ever and as soon as we load up, I type in all chat "-my name is methos" (eliminates fog of war, gives 1000000 for all resources) because I figured "hey, I used it during random offline games, so why not use it in online!?" Well, of course it doesn't work and everyone starts unloading their "OMG NOOB LOL"s at me in chat. Upon seeing this barrage of insults for this first time, I got really scared for some reason (thought I broke the law or something lol), pulled the plug and ran downstairs. Ahhh good times
