I'm not going to spend too much effort addressing this, but to say that something is bad because someone who devotes every waking hour to beating it in the quickest way possible is able to do it in a short amount of time is ridiculous. When bros who haven't cleared heroic Deadmines are complaining because Premonition got through Blackwing Descent in 2 weeks, it's stupid. Just like saying a game isn't worth the money because some Korean dude finished it in 7 hours. Some dudes beat Skyrim in 2 hours and 15 minutes, but you'd be an idiot to claim that the game is a waste of money because of that.

 

I logged in and played a bit of it already, just all the maintenance took place after. I guess NA is way more pact than the Asia/EU server so its undergoing a long maintenance.

 

On one hand I agree with the "just because" portion... yes speed runs from people who have done it before are not really indicators of a game's content difficulty by themselves.

However... Skyrim and either Diablo or WoW are very different.
Skyrim is a sandbox game. Finish the main plotline and ignore everything else and quite literally haven't scratched the surface.
Diablo and WoW are pretty much done once you have followed their plotline.

Note, in WoWs case that's one week without having done it before... without having the levels or gear, and without any prior experience.

You are comparing apples and oranges.
Just stop with the bad comparisons please.

There is a well-founded concern for content difficult in D3 based not just on the run speed... but others' experiences... and the fact that I have a job and a gf and can't play 24/7. I have no prior experience with the game save open beta. (well and D2)

Again, my experience could just be an overpowered class, or maybe it gets harder somewhere here... but at this point its not "just one speed run".

 

It's not a bad comparison, it's a perfectly valid comparison, and it's stupid when someone holds up one fringe case and acts as if that's the norm and that supports their entire argument. Maybe you're finding it too easy, and that's another thing, but one person completing the game quickly does not invalidate it.

Normal is the casual mode, the game really starts in Nightmare.

 

So you really believe comparing D3 to Skyrim is a good comparison given the topic? Skyrim and D3 are completely different games... if you can't see it, then no one here can help you.

It's like comparing an "adult entertainment" movie to an action movie. Oh sure, there is action, but its not the same. Both movies have a ratio of "action" and violence. Debbie does Dallas and Terminator lie on opposite sides of the spectrum. So does Skyrim and Diablo (especially D3).

That being said... I agree on "one fringe case" and that the speed runthrough applies to this concept. However, I am not the only one finding D3 mindnumbingly easy. Again, I am still on Normal difficulty and only played one class (the witchdoctor). It could still be WD is overpowered.

The concept that I can take a caster class and wander him into melee range of even mini bosses and end-of-act-bosses without fear of death or of even using a potion is kinda sad. I am playing a caster class and running up the boss and hitting my most potent skills until out of mana... sadly enough this is good enough of a strategy so far without even a close call. Even funnier is that my gear sucks as anything decent I have up on auction hall to get a feel for it.

 

Dude you are playing on normal. Chill out, there are only 3 (three) whole more difficulties to go..

 

Did you finish the 4 Acts already with your WD? I just started Act 2 and I'm playing a Wiz and I am not surprised that so far Act 1 is easy on normal mode. I am expecting everything in normal to be easy as it has always been like that since D1.

My main reason for playing the game is the story though. Regardless of the difficulty levels, I hope the story line will be worth buying the game again.

 

The story line is awesome! By the way, WD has a passive that allows him to escape death.

Finished Normal and Nightmare. Now in Act II of Hell and it is HARD. Died lots of times already whilst in Normal died less than 5 times and Nightmare a couple, but in Hell, every glowing monster is a challenge! Especially the gold ones, he comes with other monsters that deal a ton of damage and are IMMUNE, so you have to kill the main guy, who keeps pushing you back or pulling you into slaughter. Very challenging.
