    Curse you MCMyAdmin. D;
(Old hoster did not use this.)

Since the server more ram than the old one SMP Nether should not be a problem.
Notch mentioned that the update hits today, so lets see what i can get working.
Il try to keep the old data for "/home", "/warp" and "/lwc" if possible.
Also try keep the current map if it supports Nether.

Arg, its back up but not up.

I got on fine and spawned right where I left off @ new spawn and started my sheep hunt.

I heard a lot of zombies underground and saw a flame through the floor thinking it may be a dungeon I dug down one level.

I fell into a pit of zombies because it was an already dug tunnel somebody made but didnt fill with light, I died fast and when I went to respawn instead of going to new spawn I was at some random place on the map and it was dark.

I tried desperately to get back to spawn to get my items to no avail because not only was it so dark I could not see but the server started crashing over and over with end of stream errors.

Every time I logged on it just would crash faster, it would only render like 18x18 blocks worth of the world and if I walked past I would fall into oblivion.

Looks like its unplayable right now, and thats not the problem, the problem is probably for sure I just lost everything I had on me to a dumb server problem.

So Deagle I may need you to replace some of that for me if you can if its stuff I cant get back myself, I had diamond tools (shovel, axe, pick, sword), I had a ton of red stone stuff on me for my red stone tutorial and about two stacks of wool since that is what I was farming.

The rest I can probably replace even though it will be a pain.

Since this uses McMyAdmin, I would like the auto-healing turned on :D

No more stopping what I need to do to get food or dying because I dont take the time to go get food.

Not invincibility, but just a slow health regen sounds like a good thing to me.

update: 1.6.2 is now live. server not updated yet. probably 0 chance my items will be there now lol long wait + server update.

I played around with the new hatch item that was the thing I was looking forward to the most with the update. I figured out the recipe in like 2 seconds and messed around to see how it works. It only takes up a 1x1 square so you cant use it to cover stairs you would have to use it to cover maybe a shaft with a ladder access.

2 things that I think let me down.

    > 2 Trapdoors do not link together like 2 doors, they will still open independently, makes using it for larger spaces harder or not possible and means opening 2 of them instead of 1 if you do it by hand.

    > Must connect to the SIDE of a block instead of being able to sit on top. I can see why this is, but would hope it to stay in place if you break the side block after its placed but it wont. So to cover a shaft hole you need a block above the shaft to place it, so no nice flush trap door use.

This said I still have an idea on how to use 2 together using redstone, and figure a bridge with blocks on the side would be a prefect place to use trap doors since it gives you a place to fall and a place to place the trapdoor.

Going to probably make this setup on a bridge to a new building a user can jump up on the ledge or over the gap but a mob would fall :D and I can wire it so that it opens shortly on a timer, or stays open till I close it.

I talked to one member on steam and asked if he would like auto healing and he said heck yes!

So thats one vote for healing turned on.

Id like to ask our other active players to get a full vote in before making a decision that effects everybody.

Update: Minecraft Server 1.6.3 fixed the issue with kicking all players when entering a Nether portal.
Now Notch only needs to fix the random CPU hogging bug.

Running atm with no mobs (Including animals) and its very stable, or as stable as it can get.

Deagle fixed my items being lost by rolling back early this morning :D

    Makes me happy.

1.6.3 fixed the portal crash so what did 1.6.4 do??

p.s. the auto healing I asked for is exactly like peaceful mode, it just enables it on the smp server.

    Version update history here:

    Version history - Minecraft Wiki

When I played 1.6.2 single player this morning, it was freezing like every 10 seconds on a newly generated map. Hopefully that problem is fixed now...but can't check till I get home from work.

Also, i'm disappointed in the trap-door concept. I wish they opened downward...but I've got a great idea for a creeper trap using them.

Just FYI, guys, it seems that you can build a Nether portal and use it, but no matter which portal you entered through, you will always exit at the portal near spawn. I built one at my house, walked in and walked right back into it and popped out at spawn.

I think this has been a problem with the nether for awhile. Since the portals are so "close" to each other, it just takes one priority (built first?). Since every block in nether is like 8 steps, your house and spawn are "very" close in the nether world.

    http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/The_Nether

"A second, usually accidental, form of fast travel is to have 2 overworld portals connected to the same Nether portal. This occurs if the overworld portals are too close together, or if the portal-placement algorithm has trouble finding a clear space. When this happens, you can enter either portal in the overworld, immediately re-enter the same portal, and you will emerge in the overworld at the first portal that was built. This is effectively one-way fast travel, since there is no way to enter the Nether portal and come out through secondary portals."

Wingnut, glad to have you join us.

To have a portal, you need obsidian. It forms when lava spring hits water. It's purplish black rock.

To break obsidian, you need a diamond pickaxe. To break diamond, you need an iron pickaxe. To break iron, you need a stone pickaxe. To break stone, you need a wooden pickaxe. To get a wooden pickaxe, you must first make a work bench. To get a workbench, you must first get wood.

You can use your fist to get wood from tree's and all the crafting recipies are on the wiki. :)

Once you've got obsidian, you have build it in a 4x5 doorway pattern. Then light the middle with flint n' steel.

Yeah, but my portal and the portal at spawn are nowhere near each other. It's a good few minutes' walk from spawn to my house. Even if 8 overworld blocks = 1 Netherworld block, there would have to be pretty significant separation of portals.
To make a portal, you need a vertical ring of obsidian 4 blocks wide by 5 blocks high, so you have 2x3 blocks of free space inside the ring. You can leave the corners off if you like, to save yourself 4 obsidian. Then you light the inside of the ring on fire with flint & steel.

The Minecraft Wiki that WW linked is an awesome resource for learning how to make tools and general info about the game :)

I think if you cut a diagnol path through the mountainside just infront of our wall, I can get to your house from spawn in about a minute. Maybe less. :p

Destroy the portal at spawn, then go in,and come out yours. Rebuild the portal at spawn, and test my theory that it uses the oldest portal in the small area.

Even in terms of linear distance, you're looking at at least 100 blocks separation. I'll get some exact numbers when I'm on later.

Haha, it's probably easier to just destroy and re-create the portal at spawn to see if it will favor yours now.

I also saw this on the wiki...

"Sometimes, if two Overworld portals are connected to one portal in The Nether, then, depending on what side you go through, you can choose where you end up"

Use the portal near "New Spawn".

Also ViciousXUSMC made a railroad system connecting New and Old spawn.
    Its really awesome.

Whoo, got some work done tonight. I designed a successful lever-controlled drawbridge mechanism out of trapdoors, and I set one up at my wall, and one at the giant wall at spawn. You can open and close the drawbridge from either door on the side of the gate; just hit the lever once to open it and again to close. But make sure you close it with the same switch you open it with; the circuit I used will leave the bridge open when either one or both levers are on.

And be careful; that's lava I built the bridge over, so make sure you don't walk into it :p

I also built a road from spawn to Keepslipping's giant exploded tunnel, and another branch of the main road as a shortcut to my wall in the canyon. I did some minor remodeling of the interior of the guard towers at the main gate, and illuminated much more of the area surrounding the roads to minimize mob attacks when they're re-enabled.

Oh, and I fixed the pink wool house :p

Ok I have made 2 innovations today in track technology.

I was working on a In-Transit track switching system to get us to new areas when we expand so that you can have the track change course where needed instead of having to have a totally different track station.

I figured the need for this as getting to deagle islands is a pretty long walk to his track system and his track system is kinda confusing.

When I figured out how to pull this off, I also relized i could use the same tech I came up with to innovate the launch stations.

I got rid of all the snazzy delay mech. Now the ramp is just 1 ramp block high, you put the cart in there. Get in the cart, look behind you and push the button :D

So now launch stations are super easy to make and dont take up much room.

I broke down yours Deagle just to keep consistency.

I have not incorporated a track shift into our current system yet but I have a working prototype just behind the pink house @ old spawn just next to my viking kingdom.

You actually stop in the cart on the track and have an opportunity to pull a lever to change tracks, or just push a button to keep going. Its very fluid and the new launch platforms allow you to leave a station right away incase you go to the wrong one without getting out of the cart.

The only future innovation I may have to do is if the rails get really busy and we find head on collisions happening I will have to double up the track and devise a way to have a loop system so you always travel one way and come back the other.

Deagle did this to some degree but mine will incorporate my current tech and be a loop so the cart can just stay on the track you wont have to get off one track and onto another.

Only time I had that was when I had to update my Java. I use x64 OS and had to manually download 64bit Java as the automatic Java DL always installs x86 Java.

The old minecart station in the hills?
    No problem in that.

But if you removed my launcher that i hacked into your track at new spawn means that unless you move the launcher, spawn protection will deny any use for nonOPs.
