That island was an abandoned mine. However, I didn't see any shrapnel that destroyed anything in the public. What caused the void did not come from your TNT frenzy nor under my direction. Was it your friend that did that?

 

I want to ask a question. Is there a way to detonate TNT for a distance? I have a deep mine, but its nor very big, and I want to expand it into a large pit. Can I do that?

 

Yes, use redstone.

Or just do what I do and dig with a pick more control and you wont blow something up that you want.

 

I dig with a pick, hah, just figured I could get to more stuff with a higher surface area cave. One other thing. I can't make fire. I was going to use netherrack for my place to light it, but it says I don't have the privs to make fire.

 

I had that too, but was temporarily promoted to make fire then demoted. Be careful with fire though. I learned the hard way to keep nothing flammable two squares from the netherrack flame, even below it, because it will catch fire and then burn uncontrollably...

 

Since I haven't been on for a while, where am I allowed to build? Seems like the server world is growing at an exponential rate, and I don't where to go.

 

We dont enforce building restricitions.

Is INVedit being used on this server? It seems ridiculous that people can get so many blocks by legitimately mining or resource collecting.

 

I've gotten all of my resources legitly except for some sandstone from moderators. On another topic, anyone want to start a large branch mine with me? I'd love to get a good supply of diamonds and iron ore going.

 

I've gotten 95% of mine legitimately. I only asked a moderator for new stuff if I really screwed something up and just didn't have the heart to mine some more to do it over. Or someone else mined and gave me. It can take some effort initially, but then it's not too bad. Finding all the stuff for colored die is hard though so haven't done anything like that yet.

I'd love to get some diamonds and iron ore too. Where you recommend we start?

 

It's not INVedit, but this server does run zMod, which, among other things, allows mods and admins to spawn blocks, and create structures via commands.

That said, the vast majority of everything built on this server has been done "by hand", as it were

The first day I played, I filled two chests with stone and got 4 or 5 iron blocks, built my fort and wall within a couple days.

 

My mansion on DEagle Isles was 80% personal material. I baked literally all the refuse stone blocks that people left over in communal chests as cobblestone and I literally mined a good portion of sand for the glass as well as the wood chunks from trees. The only things I spawned was netherrocks, torches, and glowstone that was used for the roof (because those are hard and a pain to get in high quantities).

 

Seems like everyone is a moderator or op... I seriously wish I had more time to dedicate to Minecraft.

That's exactly what I said when I saw it. It's a trap. There doesn't seem to be anyway out, unless you remove some dirt blocks.

 

Op = Mod. There are no two distinct classes for them.

Also I believe there are only six total Op's for the moment and that includes the admin and two players that are not members of NBR but personal acquaintances of the admin himself.

Count me in. I've given up on my mine. Too many creeps, etc. and only found 1 piece of diamond.

 

Well, we have a few options. There is the large waterfall mine at spawn, the one under HT's house, another large one at deagle, and a huge one at old spawn. I think we could use one of those as a jumping point, OR, we make a new mine, maybe at the snow spawn, since there arent any proper mines there yet. Ideas?

 

If anyone sees the sort of trench thing outside the glass dome, it's actually a perimeter for a project that I'm working on.

I broke out two glass blocks to get into the dome from my house, and filled them back in with dirt since I keep dying and losing anything I have on me. I will probably build a door there.

Not unless the ground in the dome is lit up enough to stop them from spawning.

Mobs can spawn inside of anything if there is lack of light. They can not spawn ontop of glass though, but inside is fine.

I would prefer mods to not abuse commands and do stuff like this giant dome, its one thing to spawn structures equivalent to a building, but another to cover an entire area that effects everybody. Plus something this grand can not be easily undone.

Basically any mod command or ability that can massively alter a large area should not be allowed.

This would be what happened before with mass explosives, and now again with a giant glass dome.

So I am going to do my best to take this dome out just like I fixed the void and mass explosion areas.

Just be respectful to other players things and public areas, we were at first so lets not get out of control now.


Example: I moved my entire viking palace doors over and made it unsymetrical just because there is a pile of dirt called "project shroom" infront of the center, today I see my viking igloo has a mine dug right in the middle of the floor and I just died going down it....

 

Don't blame me, I am a noob to the mod commands, therefore I don't tend to even try anything funny with them. Also, I haven't even checked out HT's Igloo.

 

My "igloo" is more of a small box, lol. Nothing special. I called it my palace out of being, well, stupid. Still haven't figured out what I want to do yet though. Still exploring around.

 

Still I might check it out and see where people are expanding to... Also, I am interested in the mining expedition. I can bring netherrack firepits!

Yeah no problem, just mentioned it to make a point.

Even over a simple user made structure like that I would not violate it or destroy it, its a matter of respecting other users time and space. Its a world so big that there is no reason to be messing with other peoples things.

I got two red mushrooms but now brown ones. Have bowl but guess can't eat till I get the brown ones.

And sorry Vicious, that was me that dug the hole that I mentioned earlier in this thread. I built the walls up around it like that so nobody would fall in because I didn't have time to make the ladders because I already fell to my death multiple times. I thought that was the new "community center" because I did that right after the old one burned down and didn't see any sign that said viking territory so was just digging a hole to get a mining expedition started from what I thought was the "community center".

 

Just grab from my shroom farm at spawn.
I got red & brown thanks to harvesting Nether.
Also got some shrooms down in my secret underground lair.
(Hint: Under DEagle Islands)

Oh, the shelter is fine to use for community but you dont usually mine IN your shelter lol.

Ill dig it out to be a tunnel and give us mine cart access if you want to do it like that.

 

i have a ton of brown mushroom in the underwater area next to the big pyramid near spawn. i labeled it "InfectedSonic's Mario Bros Mushroom Haven" feel free to take some from there as its a huge mushroom farm.

Server just went down about 20 seconds ago for me.

 

I don't think so. I've been old almost the whole time outside of the times I disconnected for a couple seconds.

 

Somethings wrong with Minecraft server.
According to the logs it peaked at 2gb before crashing, so im thinking zMod has a memory leak of some kind.
When we used Bukkit, the server barely hit the 500mb mark.

Il see what i can do but if this happens again i may have to switch back to Bukkit.
Cant have a server that crashes at random.

 

Who built that brick and mossy cobblestone structure on the edge of the huge pit I'm digging? Has a bunch of trapdoors all over it.

 

Depending on the quantity of mossy cobble it could perhaps be a player with item spawning rank.
I suggest you also spam some sign on it asking for the owner.

For those who don't know, there is a rather large square (approximately 70 x 74 blocks) due south of uckfred's Shogun 2 inspired fortress, which is currently the beginning of a big creation.

Which brings me to my next message - PLEASE don't fill in the pit, which has now been excavated to bedrock - it's a rather large project of mine that I really want to make, and I promise you it won't continue to be just a huge eyesore, not while I'm on the server at least.

 

Me and McBlockDude are building behind my log cabin at the snow area.
Its over the mountain.

Also im wondering about maybe try a multi realm when 1.7 releases.
Keep a realm for building "normal" houses and the old realm on the next map.
As my server plan includes 2gb and the average playerbase is under 10 at peak hours this should work.

I also think it would be cooler if we made the server more adventure oriented with groups and dungeons filled with loot.
Maybe even do community builds like a giant castle or a seaside town. ;D
Minecraft needs more objectives.

 

Oh I thought you were talking about the giant snow lighthouse I haven't got to finishing yet...

 

Yeah MC gets boring when everyone's building/digging outrageous stuff without any common theme; restrictions need to be imposed on a new server. E.g. never dig straight-to-bedrock quarries, or 1x1, 2x2, 3x3 towers that go straight up to game ceiling, or ridiculous things like water / lava-covered castles and all that. Think how people in the 13th century built amazing structures, and build like them.
