Need For Speed Shift...

Just finished reading the review http://pc.ign.com/articles/102/1023587p1.html and i have to say the game looks great and sounds very promacing, ive been itching for a good car racing game for a few months and nearly brought grid on acouple of occasions...this could be the game, anyone else shown any interest in the game...what interests me about the review is that the game has returned to the racetrack which is a good thing in my view, thoughts?

 

That does look pretty good, i wouldnt have forgiven people about the hype if it had been a remake of the last 5 or so, the underground series... It reminds me of the earlier ones of playstation where you actually race proper cars.

 

I was ready to write this one off until they mentioned it's by the same studio that did GTR. Now I'll probably pick it up.

 

probably gonna rent this when it comes out, but still not changing my decision to buy forza 3 when that releases

 

This and GT5 will be my kickers til GT5 comes out....whenever that is.


Haven't touched my G25 in a while, I should finish up my G25 cockpit soon too.

 

so many racing games coming out! I don't know if I should get this one though since I prefer Need For Speed to be street racing rather then racing on the track.

 

Yeah, Forza 3 is a game I'm really looking forward to at the moment. It's been a long time since I've played a good racer, so I'm looking forward to Shift too. Let's just hope it doesn't turn out to be the appalling failure that Prostreet was.

 

are both Forsa3 and GT5 going to be released on pc, i thought for some reason they where xbox360 and ps3 exclusives........

 

It seems as though shift is moving towards a more realistic yet still fun game, sort of like GRiD

I loved grid and can't wait to see hoe this compares

Carbon held it off but undercover didn't cut it

This sounds promising. I'm not a huge fan of the Need for Speed series but I loved the Underground games!
I will try this game in the game store and if iI like it I will buy it

 

Forza 3 is Xbox360 only, and GT5 is PS3 only. Neither title is coming to PC. I don't really understand where ya'll got that from.

As for NFS:Shift, I'm going to pass. I'll stick with NFS:Most Wanted Black.

 

It was rumored everywhere the GT5 will come out on PC. It stemmed from an interview with one of the polyphony bosses.

Fact is no GT title has ever come out on PC due to the fact that it is published by Sony and they want it to remain exclusive to Playstations.

 

This looks great, the last few NFS have been pretty poor.

Anyone know if this will run on a T400 with ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 (256MB)? Is there a demo available anywhere?

While I'm not in any rush to buy it, I am glad that the EA knuckeheads involved in the NFS series during this decade have finally decided to fully put their support behind a real racing game, not a riceboy fanservice.

 

Yea, Forza is 360 exclusive and GT5 is PS3 exclusive.


I can't wait to test out the Top Gear track! Unlockable Suzuki Leona and Chevy Lancetti please? Online chart for gamers in the reasonably priced car?

id love to see it come out on the pc, imagine how good it would look without the limitations of the ps3...but my guess is it wont happen, im very tempted to get this latest NFS game though looks class

I might just buy Prostreet first for $25, if i really like it then i will buy Shift.

 

yeap some people have said the IGN are alittle bias towards EA games but a fair few reviewers are giving this game a thumbs up, ive asked to be informed as soon as it makes it to India, hopefully sooner rather than later.
looks quality on all the platforms, great news all round i say, may give forsa 3 and GT5 something to think about.......well heres dreaming anyway

Looks brilliant, definitely getting this when it's out.

 

GRID was just horrible... NFS Shift is definitely going to be one of the best racing games in recent history.

ProStreet is one of the bad games in the NFS franchise, same goes for Undercover.

What, GRID was like one of the best racing games out there... Shift looks to be great since the team who did GTR for the pc did shift. Now when the 15 hits I dunno what to get.

 

From what I have read about pro-street it sucked pretty hard, I would start with shift shouldn't there be a demo? Oh i also second GRID sucking.

 

What is the spec requirement for this game?

I am really expecting something good this time. After carbon, I am always disappointed.

 

I have to say the game looks really awesome after watching the video.
This might be worth purchasing, although most of the NFS games are the same.

 

@ Red_Dragon awesome looking isnt it, sound effects really add to the experience, really starting to look like this could be the go to pc racing game.

Well since it's by the guys who did GTR for the PC, I'm just gonna go out on a limb and assume that it will run fine.

 

Yay! So my Sager should be able to handle it just fine. I find it strange that it requires a higher clocked Core 2 Duo than Athlon 64 X2. I thought the Core 2 Duo was more efficient clock per clock than the AMD?

Although I'm more partial to Rally racing than circuit. I guess it'll have to do until DiRT 2 comes out!

 

maybe it was sponsored by AMD........or they used their processors to develop the game and decided to play it safe with asking for higher clocked Intel, but i agree its generally given that C2D is more efficient than AMD, but some games prove that wrong, maybe this is one of them.....either way your machine will love it mate.

actually the fact that it asks for a 2.5GHz C2D is saying something in itself, not many games need that highly clocked C2D processor.

 

I don't get I thought a Core 2 Duo even at 2ghz was good bit faster than the 3.2/3.4ghz Pentium 4, no?

 

No, im sure this one will be different. They wanted to take the series is a completely different direction. I have a feeling we will see another underground though. This looks like just a different part of the NFS series.

THIS^^^ Yeah thats EXAACTLY what is driving me to this game more then anything. The way the engine sounds outside and inside the car. The drifting is also pretty amazing. It got good reviews so far. I'll be picking it up some time this year.

 

I guess I'll have to set up my wheel and pedals for this one.

 

I guess some patches will improve the performance including drivers.

Hope it will work good on mu laptop with a very very very low end processor at the moment.

I think they're still making a street racing NFS and it will be NFS: World Online. According to Wikipedia, it will be released in 2010 in Europe and North America.

 

I am sure they will have another street racing game, but I for one am really happy with how shift looks. This one looks like a really good track racer. Im almost as exited about this racer as I am a new Gran Turismo and that is saying a whole lot. Tomorrow I start my ramen noodle diet.....

 

Only one more day people! At least in the States. I have to wait three more days until I can purchase it in the stores here in Europe. But I will let you know what I think about the game as soon as I have tried it out.

 

your fortunate mate, it could end up being three months or more before i get it here in India...im tempted to buy online and have it delivered, but ill wait for a few user reports to flow in first.
