    lol As far as I know, most of the NFS games have been street racing.

    High stakes in 99? hot pursuit 02? those were the greatest NFS games.

    I dont think they had any others before those. maybe im wrong

    Nearly every NFS game has been about street racing.

    Don't confuse the absence of customization and nitrous as a sign that the racing is legal. Even NFS II was street racing. I can honestly say that Porsche, Pro Street and Shift are the only ones to differ.

    How can your PC communicate with the controller without the receiver. All wireless devices need both a transmitter and receiver.

    If you want just get a corded usb 360 controller.

    idk, even shift felt too street-racer like. Maybe it's because I was addicted to NFS Porsche and I find it more enjoyable to blast around the 'ring and Laguna Seca.

    What about ad hocing your lappys wifi to be an access point?

    Is there any software that can have the xbox controller pick up over that?

    Xbox 360 controller is a proprietary RF signal. I don't even think it's the same frequency as a WiFi signal. You can't even use a USB cable to connect a wireless controller to a PC - it ONLY sends/receives over the wireless connection.

    You can use the USB, provided with a PS3 system, and a PS3 controller. I've never personally had it work but I've seen others get it done.

    Funny. I was just cruising the internets looking up info for Shift but thanks to Websense @ work my hits are rather limited. Then I see this thread bumped up to the top of the forum page.

    Can't decide b/w Shift (whatever), GT5 (PS3), or Forza 3 (360). At the ridiculous prices now tacked to games I likely will only get one of them.

    Guess I'll be listening to EA's episode 7 podcast which covers Shift first. :)

    anybody knows why?
    the FPS drops especially in places where there are lots of object(the crowd...etc)

    if you can upload a sample I can try to figure it out.

    edit: nvm .rep is not a video file you cant convert it. Rather its game data. The game engine reads it and just recreates the scene.

    If you want video you will have to use a game recording software like xfire, fraps, or camtasia.

    I've been trying to read through this thread, but it's waaayyy too long at 26+ pages, so I'll ask a question that may have already been addressed. Is it worth checking out for someone who is a hardcore sim racer? I don't like arcade style racing games at all. I started on Grand Prix Legends 10 years ago and I race GTR2 and GTR Evo regularly online and win consistently, and for me messing with a car's setup is more about changing spring rates, roll bar stiffness, and camber angles to improve traction than buying upgrade packages that suddenly make your car faster. I also know just about every track that Shift seems to come with like the back of my hand, so would it be fun for someone that takes his sim racing very seriously? Looking at the videos, the racing seems very arcade-ish with cars spinning and crashing left and right and taking corners well off the appropriate line and still passing other competitors easily... The only reason I'm curious is because I just got back from a weekend at Road Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans race, and the Rahal Letterman BMW M3 GTRs were running with NFS: Shift logos and the track announcers were hyping the game like mad, with one of the BMW drivers even telling me that he thinks the game is very good (he's actually a guy who used to frequent a racing sim forum with me around 8 years ago before he became a pro driver, so I trust his opinion). He said the Nordshleife is the best game version he's ever seen, so that really got me excited as I thought GTR Evo's Nurburgring was pretty amazing... Any thoughts?

    @Dan333SP,

    I think if you like racing sims, you will enjoy Shift. It's actually too realistic for my tastes, but a fun game none the less. :)

    I'm selling my copy if you are interested.

    I like the default controls settings for this one, now GRID... that game needs serious tweaking I cant control my car at all.

    Here is some videos of my playing:

    <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cG2unnJupKM&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='425' height='344'>

    And since the video quality is so bad here is a decent picture taken with the same camera

    Thanks mate yeah i got mucked around with my supplier but its here now, first thing i did was put your control settings in, then i tweaked them alittle running well at the moment, like the feeling of heaviness entering corners and sliding the back end out....enjoying it alot and as its my first pc racing game that makes me very happy.
    My gosh mate thats one hell of a set up, very nice home job, must be a pleasure to play on.
