Well it can use max 2GB because the same data is stored in the vRAM of each card.
Yeah they could have a new factory clocked GPU, maybe even 775m, who knows. But considering it's 4GB it's either 128-bit or 256-bit.

God bless anyone who dare to buy a slim notebook with GTX 880M running at 1GHz. Inside GT60 with a thiiick fan, over the 850MHz GTX 780M, it reaches 90C.
Either you have a deadly laptop lifting of the ground and flying all over the room with its sharp edges because of the insane fanspeed. Or you will have a melted plastic pool in a few days
lol
Sure games doesn`t scale near 100% at all like you say, but it will be a pretty hefty gaming notebook anway if you ask me -
Also SLI 128bit = 256bit. -

Not a single 7xxM card will be announced anymore.
All future cards will be 8xxM. 99.999998% sure -
-
I really think it will be sli with one card being in a hot swap bay like lenovo.
Now if they had a igpu switch like in the alienware tht would be a miracleLol imagine the battery life with tht
anyone know if a switch like that can be added in a bios update if not included at the laptops launch? -
Looking at the pictures again, there is 2 vent holes in the back. Wouldn`t that mean 1 for the GPU and 1 for the CPU? Shouldn`t there be 3 holes if it was SLI?

I'm skeptical of a lot of things. Especially 3DMark11 score, which unfortunately becomes more and more meaningless. You can check my new score HTWingnut and guess how it was possible on W230ST besides overvolting. What I want to see is actual in game performance, so lets wait till CES.

Besides, I find it a bit ridiculous to run a 720p benchmark on a machine that's equipped with a 1080p screen especially if it's being compared with a big boy like the AW 17. -
All I wanted to say is that performance comparison through those benchmarks alone is finicky. Agreed about 720p benchmark comparison between 780M and some mystery card or combination of them. -
Its official! its a GTX 765m SLI
AORUS Gaming Laptop X7Cloudfire likes this. -
Oh come on, they just copied the ASUS G750's industrial design and made it thinner.
I wonder if AORUS is a spinoff of ASUS, e.g. ASUS and ASRock? Name sounds too similar. Nah it can't be.
Plus two fans for 1 CPU + 2 GPU's means one fan is gonna be shared between a GPU and CPU. Just asking for thermal/noise issues with a chassis that thin, and it's a hot Haswell i7 no less. -
That is a pretty impressive notebook. 765M SLi inside a chassis so thin as that is amazing. It have great features as well. FULL aluminium build, fan control for the fan speed you want with the touch of a few buttons, 2x2 watt speakers although the seem to be on the side (not sure if that is good), plus 2 subwoofers underneath it. It even have 4 RAM slots and 2 mSATA SSDs running in Raid0. Amazing.
Thermally I think this notebook is designed really really good. It have vent holes from both the fans on both the back AND on the sides. That should ensure really good venting for the system.
It may be a true winner and I hope they succeed.
Well done Gigabyte  -
So ASUS is just gonna let Gigabyte rip off its notebook design? I smell a lawsuit brewing...
And why doesn't AORUS correct the description on its website? The "NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 765M GDDR5 4GB dual graphics" is just losing them credibility. Anybody who's looking to buy this thing knows better than that and can cut through the marketing bull. -
Linus' review of it is up, guess embargo lifted right before CES:

Wow I never thought I would say this but if the temps in the review are true it looks like we might actually have a thin gaming laptop with excellent performance .
My bet is it will be over 1800 dollars though probably quite a bit more too, so it doesn't really make it a contender to other similar performance gaming laptops, unless you are looking for something thin and light . -
Wow, I like it. I really like it. But considering the MSI GS70 costs ~ $1800 and the Blade Pro $2500, it will likely be right around the $2000-$2200 mark. I would buy it in a heartbeat if it cost $1500 though. I think this is a system I'd like a lot. Just depends on how easy components are to access. Looking forward to a teardown.
If you look on their site, their cooling is interesting. One GPU has its own fan, the other is shared by the CPU and GPU. I'm glad they used that many heatpipes too, and cooling on both sides of the fan. Looks like a solid design.
If they can get it around $1500 I'm buying one. -

Will probably be at least 2 grand.

"They are copying Asus. Buhuuu"
"GTX 765M SLI? Pathetic. GTX 780M is what I want. "
"4GB dual graphics. How dare they market the GPUs that way. Buhuuu"
"CPU and GPU share the same fans, it will crappy."
The fact is that this is the first system this slim to be this powerful. No other OEM have managed to do this. LinusTechReview found the system to be incredible cool despite your attempt at bashing this notebook. You would see it will be pretty efficient when you look at all the vent holes, that they spread out 100W on two fans instead of making a slim type fan deal with 100W alone. Its the only way to make it reasonable noisy and cool.
Try to see positive aspects of things instead of spewing out acid all over the thread and being a complete downer for the rest.
Did you notice that each fan have vent holes on the side and on the back? They run each heatpipe all the way to a vent hole alone where it is cooled off by the fan. Clevo/Alienware/Asus only have vents on the back, so I imagine this design to be much more efficient.
The system comes with 2mSATA SSDs in Raid0 plus 1TB HDD. Plus it have 2 graphic cards, so yeah I think $2k+ is what it will cost too.hfm, Killerinstinct and jaug1337 like this. -

Source: GTX 580M was 100W but GTX 680M ran much cooler.
We must remember that MSI use a big behemoth of a fan in their GT systems. You wouldn`t had room for a fan of that size in the X7. The fan`s X7 use is probably much slimmer. And a 100W GPU surely must have big enough room to breath right? There is a reason why all the 17" notebooks Asus,MSI and Dell make are thick. If they could go down in size, they absolutely would, to reduce material costs and to get more customers who want a lighter and thinner notebook which are easier to carry around with. You only find single GPU systems like MSI GS70 and Razer that are thin.
I also would have imagined that you would have created hotspots that could be uncomfortable to touch if you had a 100W slim notebook.
I think OEMs need to find a balance between power, temperature and noise.
They could try and put a 100W GPU inside the X7, but to keep it cool, they would need to increase fan speed. Which again increase noise. Which could potentially hurt their sales. They could go down in fan speed to lower noise, but that would increase temperatures, could lead to potentially broken systems where the GPU have died. Or have bad reviews where they get bad ratings because of high temperatures and uncomfortable to have it on your lap.
If they could spread out the heat on several fans, they could go down in fan speed while still ensuring cool temperatures. Power would go down a little since SLI doesnt scale 100% like a single GPU like GTX 780M.
But I guess cost also comes to play here like you say.
Who knows, the GTX 765M they have on the X7 could be downclocked slightly to reduce heat. -
Killerinstinct Notebook Evangelist
Also another reason why all 17" are thick is cause the competition hasn't change there design so why should lose money on making a new design , if it works keep it lol. If making laptops was about using the latest technologies , we would have liquid cooling in laptops. Its all about profit margins and selling a product and trying to beat the competition with minimal effort.

I`m gonna get off my high horse a little since I cant sit here and think I know the answer.
The only way we would know 100% is if there existed a system that had these components.
Nobody have made any slim notebook with similar hardware. Slim notebooks became popular several years ago.
Both Razer and GS70 use dual fan setup. They only have GTX 765M.
Shouldn`t this atleast push us to believe that it isn`t as easy as one might think?
This is btw the first time we have a slim notebook with 2 graphic cards. Its a great deal when you think about it -

Yea I agree with you there but in the engineering everything is possible , just that when you look at it from the business perspective , it gets complicated , you have to make sure to sell enough to offset the production cost , development cost and what customers want. Which I think causes laptops to be what they are , small changes towards a new design. Also i think the razer was the first slim gaming laptop , they had to make an impression thus they did something risky. Being innovotive is risky hence companies dont like to do it. But the X7 is a pretty innovative so I'm starting to think that next year gaming laptops will be thinner. But this is all speculation who knows they could get thicker. -
Definitely a lot of unanswered questions. Give me or Cloudfire or Meaker a run at one and we'll gladly answer all the questions.
Still need to know about:
- battery life
- component accessibility
- component temperatures
- power adapter size/weight
- screen attributes
- peak power consumption
The other issue is availability for USA. Gigabyte has been notorious for not making their products readily available for purchase. Although I'm curious why they aren't launching it with an 860/865m GPU though, even if it is a rebrand, for marketing reasons only. Perhaps they will once they actually launch it considering 800m series is apparently imminent.
Edit: I'm tryiing to find contact information to give it a shot for a review sample, can't hurt. But I can't find any contact information at all!Cloudfire and Killerinstinct like this. -
Those would be good to know yes. Especially temperatures and noise.
I`d like to know the temperatures running the "stealth mode". Considering its 27C (on top of the notebook) during gaming, maybe one can game with "stealth mode"?
And does it have MUX like my Alienware 18? Its an awesome feature
-
Likely does not use Optimus, but manual switch hopefully? Or can you game on battery with a single GPU?
-
Manually switch would be awesome
Its a 180W adapter and it weighs 805g.
It looks very easy to upgrade as well

By the way brother Cloudfire, for some reasons all your embedded images in your previous post above my post, cannot be viewed. They don't load.

I would also love to see a fan control solution like X7 on the Alienware`s. Atleast a turbo mode for the overclockers. -
This is looking more tasty by the minute. If the power plug is 5.5mm/2.5mm I'm golden, have my 240W modded PSU, which is also 19.5V, and weighs only 700g
Never thought I'd say it, but this may be the laptop I buy this year. I can't afford my $4000 880m SLI behemoth, but this will suffice just nicely. Although will wait and see if they offer one in a couple months with a slightly more powerful 800m series GPU. -
It would be quite a upgrade over your NP7330 thats for sure HT
If it wasn`t for my Alienware 18, I`d buy it too. It will be a bit slower than the Clevo/MSI/Asus with GTX 780M, but it is a much more solid machine overall with great features you can`t find elsewhere which makes it better in my eyes.

2.9KG according to spec, not that light.
for 15mm more you can get a m6800, 12mm more for a zbook17, just saying.
