    hey dondadah.

yes, i could over clock 174.74, but the best drivers for over clockin still are the 169.04 169.09

i have the top 3dmark06 scores with these drivers and using the 8600m gs 512 card with ddr2 and not gddr memory. (for those wondering what the difference is) (ddr2 gives low memory over clocking, while gddr memory gives a higher memory over clock.)

    cool.
and if you cant get rivatuner to work, use ntune.

and the right inf file is located in the original_inf.zip file. nv_disp.inf is the correct inf to use

did you extract the file to your 174.93 directory?
then try to install the driver using the setup file.

Are you sure 100? I put 2x for AA, Bilinear for AF, and I still get around 30-40 usually. Unless refresh rate means something else? Thanks =D

I just finished Gears of War PC on my 8600m GT DDR2. It runs pretty smoothly with occasional hiccups due to the massive amount of data needed to be loaded from the harddrive (which imo is the cause of almost all of the shuttering in the game) . I wasn't expecting the ending to be what it is, but it was good, and will definitely look forward to GOW2 if it ever gets ported to PC.

You can`t. It`s what the GPU does.
What you can do is follow some tricks to optimis the OS for gaming.Try here for Vista : http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=166532
About XP, it`s already good as it is.
If you need 60fps at those resolutions, lower the detail level to med or low(if you`re using high) and try that for size.
Also, remember, drivers have a huge impact in performance, get new ones from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showforum=88
Don`t forget to get the modded inf also, and after extracting the driver, overwrite the modded inf in that folder.

Well, let me rephrase, Half-Life's FPS rate monitor ("net_graph 3" in console) shows an average of about 80-90, depending on the level and decals and whatnot. Fraps might tell me differently. I know my refresh rate is 60Hz, so from what I've been told I won't get any benefit it frames are being drawn faster than FPS, but I'd have to say that gameplay is smoother when HL indicates that the frame-rate is higher (maybe displaying bad info...not sure).

I turn AA OFF and have AF at Trilinear and everything else maxed. I had basically the same FPS when I had my 5400rpm HD and 2GB of ram.
