@valuxin already flashes back to the dell bios, but the gpu wont boost pass idle clock now (perfcap util / no load limit). Is there anything I can do to fix it?

    Hi dear valuxin
I have dell precision m4700 , recently I took NVidia quadro k1100m from dell precision m4800. I flash rom from https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/157921/157921 in DOS nvflash environment! It said successfully flashed!!!!! but when I going to install driver such driver for m4800 m6800 m4700 m6700 it said it is not compatible!!!!!! I search over net many days and trying to modding .inf driver but it also not working!!!!!! please help me to install driver of NVidia k1100m on my dell precision m4700. anyone has right .rom file of k1100m on dell precision m4800? please help me
the problem is ID of Board and ID of k1100m. I use many command to bypass this difference like nvflash -n -f -6 ROM.rom . but there are nothing to work.

When trying to backup the Vbios of the M2000M (ZBook 15 G3) I get the following:

NVFlash under DOS and Windows the same. Safe mode the same. I selected "discreet card" only in bios. Windows 7 with legacy support + secure boot disabled in bios

Tried NVFlash in your folder and I can not get the bat file for backup to work. Something about the extension.

Could you help me backup and flash the bios of this card please.

    Thank you.

    Hi there

very interesting topic and awesome work with the costom bios.

Has anyone an idea how to overclock or flash costomized bios on a K4200 (4GB) ?
or shall i try the K4100 bios from here?

it's terrible underclocked and would like to set the GPU MHz higher.
with afterburner I can only tweak memory clock.

I have a HP Zbook 17 G1 with Nvidia quadro K3100m card. I tried this a few months ago so the details are a little vague but i tried flashing all versons of your bios for k3100 on it and they all had stock clock speeds after. I tried using a 230w psu thinking it might be power limited but no change. I downloaded a (hp i think) bios from techpowerup and modded it with keplar bios tweaker and then flashed it but it would cause my caps lock button to flash like 3 or 4 times with a black screen and would not boot. I never got that card working again so i switched it out for an identical one from another hp zbook 17 g1. Does anybody know how to get the K3100m overclocked to 1000+ mhz on the hp zbook g1? Id donate $20 for anybody that sent me bios and instructions to do so. Thank you!

I tried this (again) on an HP 8740w, I got a dell card so my computer didn't show any image so I had to use teamviewer to flash the vbios.

I simply unzipped the nvflash tool to my desktop and put the vbios file that its at 100w TDP on the nvflash folder only, I run the "flash.bat" file and the computer started beeping. After finished, I rebooted the computer and it started to show image on the screen.

This worked for me two times, the first one was a k4100m and last week it was a k3100m.

Unfortunately i cant even get the first card to boot so i couldnt use teamview or anything. it just flashes and beeps and turns off. I might try the 100w TDP bios again on the working card though. Thank you for helping though!

I have an elitebook 8560w with a quadro fx 2800m that is mxm 3.0b card. All work fine with temperature too because the highest is 69 degree celcius but i have two problems. The first is that the gpu doesn't reach the 600mhz on core clock. It's only above 340mhz. Memory and shaders too doesn't reach the maximum frequency. The second the brightness that i can't adjust. My specs are:
    i7 2820qm
    6 gb of ram ddr3
    700go hdd
    No dream color screen hd+
    120w charger.
    Please what is wrong ?

So I'm having an issue on the K4100m mod.

The default bios does the default max overclock (+135, +1000) just fine, but the modded one seems to only ever TDP throttle the core to 562mhz and 75.

Is there a way I can fix this?
I'm using a Dell Precision M6700 with a dell card.
    EDIT:
edit: NVM, no longer necessary, my card just behaves strangely, if custom Nvidia vbioses make your clocks stay low try to dump the vbios with GPU-Z after flashing it, 3d clocks will begin to work correctly after you power off the device normally, then power it back on.

It's an odd solution, but before this my card was capped at 75w despite the BIOS specifying 115w.

Your mod now works great on my Dell Precision M6700!

There definitely is a bug on my machine wherein after a driver crash it will throttle the TDP to 75w.

Seems like, you're using HP variant of video card. They always come without vBIOS flashed, so that's why you can't even boot beyond the POST. So, you need to find non-HP laptop with MXM and flash it there or flash it with eeprom programmer.

Just ask anyone at Computer Repair Service to flash the vBIOS on this card - it shouldn't cost much. You can grab vBIOS for your card from my repo. I guess, the best one would be from Dell.

    @ThomasTho and @Loud88gt
I had similar problem with HP 8770w (no dreamcolor screen) and k3100m. I have to say thank you for @valuxin for his contribution of vbios, and I was following him since more than a month for any solution. I had bought a HP nvidia k3100m which had trouble giving me screen output.
Finally I had solution, which could be of importance to you. ( I had posted all the trouble and my solution as a reference for anybody interested for k3100m. It might be similar for k4100m).

    1. Firstly, I installed HP K3100m (bios untouched) in 8770w, no output in LCD but output output from display port.

    2. I downloaded bios files provided by @valuxin for K3100m in this initial thread. Thank you @valuxin for your contribution. The files I downloaded were all the k3100m vbioses (not the modded ones) from his link. There were two dell vbios:- a) one with file size 163 kb and b) other with file size 167 kb. Also I downloaded other HP vbios.

    3. I booted to dos using usb drive and used Dos version of nvflash to backup original bios of card. and then flashed dell vbios (size 163 kb) in the K3100m.

    4. Rebooted the laptop, display in the LCD screen of Laptop. (Note: things got complicated after that. Please read below too).

    5. I installed the quadro drivers after modding the installer. (Video can be found in youtube)

    6. Reboot- display got completely messed when computer loads into windows. After that I flashed in dos the HP vbios downloaded from @valuxin (164 kb). Now, card completely messed up, that it do not even boots to dos even there is no display. No booting at all.

    7. I bought the programmer with the test clip, to try if it might work. It didnot. I identified the bios chip. It was MXIC chip with WSON standard. So no luck.

    8. After several weeks, I found a person who could take that chip out from the card and helped me flash the dell vbios in their own programmer. I could not test my own programmer (similar to one displayed above). I flashed dell vbios (163 kb) as it initially gave me display in lcd screen.

    9. I installed it in HP 8770w (not dreamcolor screen) and booted to windows. I modded the nvidia installer and similar problem as mentioned in point 6. screen messed up when boots to windows.

    10. I googled and found that screen type might be a problem as new generation screen are different eDP and older are LDVS LCD. 40 pin connectors are LDVS and dell precision 6800 drivers compatible vbios could solve as I corroborated through google search (I might be wrong).

    11. Finally, I flashed the dell vbios (167 kb size) (Thank you @valuxin for your contribution) and now everything is going great. driver install successful, display through docking station and multiple displays all supported. Finally, a relief after such a long bad luck.

@TheKillerTacos I think you need to flash the dell vbios from @valuxin (one with file size of 167 kb) into your K4100m from HP.

    https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=!ACY3-8igckIdjYM&cid=72316AA2942F0A8A&id=72316AA2942F0A8A!89102&parId=72316AA2942F0A8A!41585&o=OneUp

I was settle things out for my k3100m in Hp 8770w with vbios of 167 kb (vbios of size 163 kb did not work out well) and hope it might work out for you too. Give a try.

    hey guys,

i had bought a K4100m for my Dell M6600. I had installed it, but it works not correct. After that i had flashed the vbios in DOS Mode withe a file from valuxin.

nvflash said: Subsystem ID is not correct

    Card ID: 10DE 11B7 - 1028 14A4
    VBios: 10DE 11B7 - 1018 15CD

I had flashed without a backup and this was my big mistake. Now i can't boot any system. Windows 7, Windows 10 from HDD or Linux Mint from CD... nothing will work. It comes only a black screen.

Flashing is possible in DOS, but i can't found a correct vbios.
    Can anybody help?

I hope everybody can understand my bad english.
    Thanks for help :)

Update: I looked @ a picture from first flashing. I buyed the card with this
    ID's 0000 0000 103C 197A.

When i flash a HP VBios my external monitor show me the picture, but no boot possible. Withe Dell VBIOS only the internal monitor.

Yea, at the end my 8770w died (somehow, probably someone dropped water on it :'c),
But i had a 8560w laying around and flashed the Dell vbios on it, I did some physical mods on the disipator and placed another disipator from a 8540w on the GPU,
But the problem now its that I am getting bottlenecked by my Power brick which only does 120w, so I had to throttle the CPU to 3.0ghz (i7-2820qm) so it only consumes around 20-50w under load, and let the GPU use 40-60w, which I hate, because i had to underclock my gpu to 549mhz and modify the vbios, everything runs fine, i'll probably buy a 220w power brick to actually overclock the hell out of this gpu, since the gpu fan is running at 100% (cant set speed since its conected directly to a usb port) I get really good temps, with the hottest days i run the gpu around 65c while playing GTA V and Fortnite.
So yea, thank you guys and thank you @valuxin for the vbios

btw @valuxin, I believe that the 8560w MXM port is PCI-E 2.0 x16, Will there be any bandwidth problems using this gpu? since the K4100M is pcie 3.0, i had read online that even the gtx 1080 wont bottleneck at 3.0 x8.
So pcie 2.0 x16 is the same as 3.0 x8 if I am not wrong, I just want your opinion.

I might later post some pics here so you guy can se this weird ass monster I made.

Hey @valuxin, wonderful work you've done here for the Kepler generation of Quadros.

Is there anyway the latest Pascal ones like the Quadro P1000, 2000, 3200, 4200, 5200 can be overclocked? Some of these GPUs come severely nerfed, for instance, the P3200. Thanks again!

Valuxin, Good work on the Kepler chips! I am on a K3000M and it does Quake/Doom/Wolfenstein great but it need MORE. In lieu of this I have purchased a K4000M that should arrive later this week. I am interested in testing the K4000M bios mods with you. I am on a Dell M6700, Core i7, IGP is HD4000. I would be glad to paypal some cash money over after we complete our testing/project. Let me know if interested. Same goes for community if you've already worked the K4000M Nvidia Kepler for Dell.

For FullHD resolution, even 2.0 x8 will be OK.

The vBIOS can be modded, but probably have to be flashed via desoldering eeprom from the videocard.

No vBIOS mods is possible for HP laptops using stock GPU lineup (coz the system take vBIOS file from the main BIOS and not videocard eeprom).

Read first post one more time and you will find the answer :)

First off all, I see no reason to use first gen kepler on M6700 while 2nd gen Kepler and 1-2gen Maxwell work like a charm. If you are stick to K4000, I have a bad news - first gen Kepler have poor overclocking capabilities + they have slightly different vBIOS structure and it will be bit hard to make the mod. Still possible, but will take me some time to accomplish, coz the last time I've moded Kepler vBIOS was years ago.

He is right, kepler is not good for laptop either first or second gen, maxwell is sooo much better, I upgraded my M6700 to GTX970M and it was a lot better than my K4000M overclocked
In case there is already a modded vbios for Dell K4000M that unlock overclocking (not on this forum), I managed to run mine up to 950~980MHz on the core and a giant overclocking on the memory to 4~4.1GHz instead of the 2.8GHz (which give me around the same performance increase as overclocking the core), if I remember correctly it also disable the "low power" on battery

Edit : also you are able to unlock overclocking on pascal card ? or increase the boost frequency ? today I will try some of rom file I modded for my P4000 (because it is locked at a very low frequency)

agreed, I found similar findings with inspector and the K3000M. I will use it to check the 4000 and report the findings to any appropriate thread. I will also look into the 900 series and Maxwell cards Thanks for your time. -T.

I know this is an old thread so I might not get a response, but I want to push my quadro k3100 in my HP to it's limits, the modded bios files that have been created don't include an HP variant and I'm wondering if I just take the values of modded bios and manually enter them into the bios I extracted from the board, will I run into problems, is there something more than this?

If you are running K3100M on Zbook G1 or G2 - bad news, it's impossible to use vBIOS mods, coz the system BIOS of G1 and G2 have K3100M vBIOS stored inside itself.

    Hello Valuxin ,

great job with the overclocked nvidia k3100m .
I followed the tutorial but i had a problem .
As stated in the tutorial i tried to do an original vBios backup .
When i tried to do that i didnt work , the error was that the bios was not the correct format.
Anyway i continued with the flash .
I tried all the vBios versions, it installed with no problem .
When i did a restart it gave me all sort of problems .
When i go to Device manager it shows me ERROR 43 and i cant get the driver installed .
I tried to do a fresh driver install but no success.

    my machine:

    DELL M6800
    Intel Core i7-4810MQ
    Nvidea Quadro K3100M
    32 Gb Ram
    256 SSD
    500 HDD

Can you give any suggestion what may be going wrong?

    Cheers
    Enerik

In case anyone needs it here's an unlocked vbios by the techinferno guy slv7 I think, works fine for my dell k4000m no problems. I don't know about voltage, that's not an option for me in msi but I was just going with +390 core and +720 memory on msiaf which I've read around, results in 4644 firestrike. Never had any stability problems in a couple months. I got this from some other generous person in the techinferno forums that attached it to a post, bc that site has ridiculous requirements for downloading files privileges. It would be nice if the OP would have done k5100m vbios too though in case of people upgrading now.

    @valuxin :
i read you said zbook 17 g1 has all supported gpus in system bios, however i suppose it's still upgradeable to a supported gpu, preferably from dell for best compatibility? i got k610m mxm a and want to drop there a dell k4100m mxm3b, with the heatsink part as well, they are supposed to be supported as i see in the manual? thanks for the mod though..

Hi, i hope this thread is not to old .
    First big THX to valuxin.
I used some files in the last years with K3100M and K4100M cards in different Notebooks like MSI and Clevo/XMG
Last year i flashed the MSi V1.0 vbios on a Dell K4100M card and used it in a MSI GT70 ONC(MS 1762) - also in a Medion erazer X7821- works fine and perfect results.
So i bought another Dell MSi K4100M card this year for a friends notebook.
What i didnt knew was that it is a special Version of the MSI GT70 named MSI GT70 20LWS
    https://www.msi.com/Workstation/support/GT70-2OL-Workstation.html
Theoretic perfect for use because it came with a K4100M from MSI. (but actually there was a GTX870m in use)
So Problem is: I can use the Dell K4100m with the original MSI Bios found on their site(last files on firmware/service site)
    https://www.msi.com/Workstation/support/GT70-2OL-Workstation.html#down-firmware
But i cannot use the MSi K4100M OC files here in the download- So i can flash it and card will be found under Windows and works BUT it has a less performance as with the original Vbios from MSi site!? even on 1006 MHZ or higher
Something will not fit and work with the Notebook bios. ...
    So can someone help me?-
I used the KeplerBiosTweaker and updated some vbios datas(raised the Mhz to 1006 etc but Problem is with the Boost table- if i increase it to 1006 Mhz it only goes to step 20 and not 31 anymore.
So i have to change the powertable steps also.
Could someone check my changed OC Bios with Voltage table and matching boost steps- i will not burn down the chip because of wrong voltages...
