thanx for the quick reply but no, it's not that.
Even without the overclock the old 8600mGT used to do nearly 30fps in Airborn. The new one in the same settings doesn't get above 20FPS ....
I'm not sure if its a driver or hardware issue. I'd appreciate any help
-
is it like this...the game starts off running smooth, but after a couple of min the fps drops and stays that way?
-
no, even in the MOH Airborne start menu the mouse is lagging badly!!
-
-
-
I had that mouse lagging in menu thing as well, dont know what solved it.
Could you try this, download latest direct x revision and install it.
Uninstall your drivers completely by using driver cleaner, clean out the registry for nvidia entries. then reinstall 169.04 drivers from lv2g -
THANKS all you good guys,
I just found the problem, silly me...
For some reason the nVidia 3D driver options were changed from Application to User defined....
I put the standard "3D Application defined" default and now it's OK again!!! -
-
BTW What's your GPU revision? Mine is A2
Can you send your V-BIOS copy to me.I wanna chk it.PM me -
I can't do it right now because I'm downloading something from the internet. I'll have to neustart the notebook to get the bios.
I'll do it tomorow, it's midnight here and I have to get up early for work.
I'll just need your email address to send it...
Of course its a Dell card not mxm...
Maybe you can have a deep look and maybe do a mod to the bios?
Everest says its Rev. A1 -
Lol this is weird ....I checked my Nvidia control panel and guess what lol it was also set to user settings haha. Changed it to let application decide and my games run much better lol. Thanks for bringing this problem to our attention lol

Does anyone here avec a screenshots of the boot menu of Inspiron 1520 ?
I made a bad flash, and i can't boot on my USB Drive, i know i must push F12 but then ? down ? Up ? Enter ? Please help me ^^ -
BTW what happen?
Normally First drive is HDD & second one is CD/DVD Rom.Third one should be USB drive (Try up/down using arrow key) -
Ok, found it, press F12, three times down, then Enter... I put nvflash OC.rom, i got three little bip.. then what ?
-
-
WORKED !!!! Computer back ! I love you guy, think i'm gay for one night !
-
-
Now it works, after more than 1hour, i successfully put Bios back. thx for all
Have a nice day.

Use the '/6' option:
i.e. nvflash /6 newbios.rom
I successfully flashed my VGA bios this way and so far so good. -
Nice guide!
Not sure if this has been covered in the 28 pages of this thread- but a heads up about an issue I encountered with the HP format utility (possibly Vista specific?). The HP format tool incorrectly listed the two USB storage devices I had attached at the time, mixing the two physical device names with the drive letter and size. LOL unfortunately I only noticed this AFTER I having to un-format my backup drive.
Attached image illustrates - with the Seagate FreeAgentDesktop listed as having the drive letter and size of the 1GB Memorex Traveldrive and vice versa.Attached Files:

I've read DDR3 used in some 8600GT's are just faster DDR2 maybe with lower timings and higher voltage...
So, I want to increase the memory voltage on my 8600GT a little as well as try changing the timings....
Any tips to doing that first in windows, and then in bioses...? -

Hi! You know? I just registered for this board, because of Bigspin's very helpful guide. Thank you, Bigspin.
Since I have no access to a PC with Windows XP to creat a bootable USB flashdrive, I was searching the internet for some other solution to my problem. With no result so far... but I came up with something else, I found an interesting guide how to create an automated emergency flashdrive and thought it might be a useful addition:
So in cases where you (not particularyly 'you' but 'you guys' in general) aren't successful in flashing blindly, this may be your last resort. Take your USB stick with the backup bios to a friend and create the 'autoexec.bat' described above.
That beeing said, I have some issue with my 8600M GT 512MB ( Forceware 169.12, Aspire 5920g 302G20N, Vista 64bit, 4GB Ram):
Using the latest Rivatuner my card read 'GPU/shader/vram clock' of 475/950/400 in 'performance 3D', but monitoring my clocks and temperature while playing in windowed mode, the GPU was at 513MHz and the shader at 1026 respectively w/o any(!) overclocking from my hands! I don't mind the additional performance through this, but it is somehow weird. And on the other hand in 2D mode, my clocks are 182/364/ 800 where they should be about 160/320/ 100!!! I wonder if this is some issue with rivatuner rather than with my video card? Maybe someone of you encountered the same inconsistencies?
Additonally my GPU temperature reaches 92°C (197,6°F) whilst playing at 21°C room-temperature.
I'd like to hear your oppinion on that, too.
And since it's been asked several times and as far as I have read (I stopped at page 5) it hasn't been discussed very much: I gain 2FPS with a RAM-clock of 430MHz (+30MHz; 513/1026/430 to be exact) in 3D mode with 2x AA in 'Lord of the Rings: Online @ ultra high detail', which is pretty good in my opinion. Since I think the VRAM is the bottleneck, I'd rather overclock the ram to about 520MHz and leave the GPU as it is. It is my understandig, that a higher GPU clock decreases the maximum of the vram overclock? Is that correct? I'd be happy for a link to a decent guide on that topic, because I can't find one on my own.
Thanks for your patience reading this. -
# Rivatuner have some reading issues (Incorrect GPU clock speeds)
# Make sure to keep your VGA temp below 95C (Above 90C is high for me & you better try some cooling pad)
BTW 5920G VGA normally stay @ 55-57C(Idle) 80C-85C (Load /without OC)
# Do not OC your VGA ram too much . -
maybe it's due to the drivers. i don't overclock at all. will try a rollback. it hurts to have such a hot GPU
and it feels even worse knowing there is much less o/c potential than with your machines
-
Oh...ya try different drivers -
the latest one available at acer, i think it's the .3708. do you think it has an impact on my graphic-card's temperature? that would be weird but i am no expert on that topic. i downgraded my drivers to 165.01, nothing changed.
i will try even older drivers like the 163.xx you used. an older version of rivatuner might have an effect on temperature readings also. -
There is a new version available at ACER's (3805) official site. Try to upgrade.
-
Update the guide & external links.

So far every driver I have tried on my m9750 has not let me overclock my graphics cards. Which drivers do or is it just my computer? Is it a good idea to do this for SLI 7950s? What clocks should I put?
-
-
Alright well thanks anyway.

I have an ASUS G1Sn w/ a 9500M GS. I heard you can flash any GPU with the VGA BIOS of any other GPU's VGA BIOS of the same chipset: Is this true?
So this page says my card has the same chipset (G84) as a 9650M GT:
http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=258363
Does that mean I can successfully flash my card and upgrade it to a 9650M GT when that BIOS becomes available? Please let me know.
I can already overclock my card over 25% and remain stable, so I don't know if I would gain much more, but would be good to know. So... -

GPU Undervolting questions:
I followed this (excellent) tutorial and the one that can be read here and opened my 8600M VGA-bios in Nibitor to find the following voltage values:
performance level 0 (168 MHz): 1.15V
performance level 1 (275 MHz): 1.15V
performance level 2 (475 MHz): 1.2V
Because I successfully undervolted my T7300 and lowered CPU temps by 10 degrees C, Iwanted to do the same for the GPU. Problem: 1.15V seems to be the lowest available value in Nibitor. I have three questions:
1) Did anyone try to change voltage for level 2 from 1.2V to 1.15V ?
2) Comparaing to overclocking case, what are my chances of restoring the system successfully if undervolting the level 2 from 1.2V to 1.15V goes wrong ?
3) Is there any way to go below1.15V limit ?. It seems like a very high value for a chip running at 168 or 250 MHz).
Thank you for your time ! -
Hellpppp please!
For days on end, I have been trying to overclock my friends new 8920g with the 9500m. No matter what drivers etc I put on, it just will not overclock, sliders just reset everytime.
So tonight ive tried to flash the rom, ive just followed the guide excatly as stated but obviously the nibitor doesnt support 9xxx cards yet, so i just selected 8 series for it to detect clock speeds.
Ive gone to flash the new rom to it and get the error:
WARNING: Firmware image PCI Subsystem ID (10DE.0000)
does not match the PCI Subsystem ID (1025.0145)
I have looked around and im sure its a mxm card, and I used the "backup" rom renamed and modified so im kinda stuck
thanks, Bradley -

Hey Bigspin, thanks very much for your quick reply mate!
Before i saw this message id had enough after all these days and forced with the -6 command.......
yipeee seems to have worked!
When i ran the -6 command and it asked me to confirm "y" i did that, then it displays the difference of the two "systems" which were identical!
So it ran through that and then completed!
Ive yet to try any 3d games, but it boots fine, loads into vista, and i ran gpuz and it confirmed the new clock rates!!
So fingers crossed its a success! -
