Not sure if you left out FSX intentionally or just forgot :D.

MS Flight Sim 2004 and X is old enought that every dedicated flight sim fan already owns it.
Probably throw in some addon plane packs too. ;)
My friend is a total flight sim lover and the only game he plays more than Flight Sim X is Forza Motorsport 4 for X360.

What i would like to see for MS Flight would be a content pass, similar to buying a retail game to get all future content for free.

But with retail games, you don't get all future content for free (with very rare exceptions, like IL-2 Forgotten Battles). I spent $60 on Mass Effect 2 and probably spent as much on a half-dozen different DLC packs (from new missions to new gear). I bought Rise of Flight: Iron Cross Edition for $35, but I still pay for each new plane I add. And buying World of Warcraft doesn't get you each expansion for free. Etc.

As soon as all the serious flight sim gamers already have lifetime passes for $49, there's not an incentive for them to keep making more and more interesting and elaborate DLC.

Mass Effect 2 still lacks a GOTY edition with DLC included. :(

If not a DLC content pass, they could perhaps offer a seasonal pass similar to Forza Motorsport 4.
You "preorder" the additional content packs or a slightly cheaper price.
The only real thing i got a complaint on is that GFWL uses microsoft points and not real cash but heard it might change soon.

Rise of Flight allows for discounts of up to 45% for buying planes in bulk. Maybe something like that? Particularly if the discount applies over time (the more you buy, the less it costs to buy more) instead of just applying to one transaction?

    Something like that. :)

As a casual flight gamer i had fun with MS Flight but if they plan to sell the DLC too expensive i wont buy it.
XBLA games on Xbox 360 costs from 800 to 1600 points, the same as a plane purchase.

...so? Most games for my Kindle Fire cost between $0.99 and $2.99...does that mean even the most complex DLC for the most complex PC game can't cost more than $3?

2100 microsoft points costs around 250 norwegian kroners or 44 US dollars.
I cant endorse buying a single plane dlc for the same price as fairly new retail game.

Edit: Seems like the US marketplace uses dollars instead of points. :)

Not to mention, in the US marketplace, aircraft are priced from $7.99 to $14.99. Still expensive compared to Rise of Flight, but more detailed too. And waaaaaaay more reasonable than $44.

Have ya tried it yet? It's actually better than I was anticipating.... seems like more of a slightly less serious airplane showcase experience... and that I can't hate on at all. I get the feel the creators really appreciate airplanes and flying and wanted to capture the fun side of the experience. In the first mission or two my instructor takes a break to practice her ukulele before I landed my light sport amphibian beside the yacht where she is attending a wedding... flying doesn't always have to be so serious, and I feel that MS Flight is a fantastic alternative, and has every opportunity to be great depending on how it expands and grows.

Just looking at the planes sitting on the ramp in the selection screen is gorgeous! That Stearman is awesome ha! Just a fun big hoot of a plane and Flight captures the fun of it well.

X-plane is fun and I have the last 4 versions, I've never really fully loved the flight model but they keep telling me it's more realistic than other alternatives... feels too floaty to me but it's all relative I suppose. And unfortunately I haven't gotten 10 to run to my satisfaction yet.

Definitely worth the free download, disable mouse flight mode for full axis freedom if ya want full control, and it really is a fun refreshing experience.

Will all come down to how it grows from here, if at all. I'll pick up the rest of Hawaii and the Maule at least.

Installed MS Flight today. Neat little game. And I had no problems with launching it and setting my Saitek Flight Yoke Pro.
But still ran into few annoyances. The first mission was to fly around some balloons and then land on the airfield. So when I had to land a was like "woah" you really expec t to make such steep turn and just dive on the runway. So I decided to fly away a bit from the airport and then received the "mission failed, try again" sign :D. I had to repeat this mission like 4 times. And people say that MS Flight is nothing than simple arcade :D.
After that found myself playing FSX with all the big toys, weather, route, FMC setup, etc. Ah the best kind of meditation :D :D :D.

Opposite experience for me, it would stay stuck on the splash screen. Every once and awhile it would work and when it did it was a meh feeling. The game felt simple, I could even use my 360 controller and the graphics were average with everything turned up to HIGH.

If it hasn't been mentioned, Eagle Dynamics is releasing a Legends Flight Sim "P51-D Mustang" Oh YEAH.

Brings me back to my Kesmai Air Warrior days on GEnie Online.

Yup, it is really simple. Just your basic GA fun. But I still had fun.
I liked the graphics (everything on high), except clouds, they were too ugly.

I personally hate MS Flight. It's way too "arcadey". Yes, FSX was a pain to run, but at least it had some little sense of realism, whereas MS Flight has nearly none.

Graphics are OK, but the controls are way too easy. You can't control flaps, ailerons independently, spoilers, engine start/stop, nothing... :(

U MAD BRO?!? There are all those controls, flaps, trim, mixture, etc... Have you been to options menu? You can turn those thngs on and off.

As for FSX vs Flight. They both suck at realism. Thing is, FSX has a lot off add-ons. I don't remember when was the last time I played vanilla FSX. If Flight had all those add-ons, like REX, FEX, PMDG, Capsim, etc, it would be as good as FSX. But at least Flight isn't PITA to to run. FSX was such a mightmare, I took me long hours/days to make it somehow stable.

Are you referring to ignition start? Because that you can do. I spent 15 minutes trying to figure out how to turn on the engine while in free flight and another 15 minutes trying to figure out how to close the canopy. :D
