the problem is not be slow, as mine I can overclock it to 4 ghz, but it is a c2duo, and xplane 10 requires more core to take advantage of its new features.

I am planning to go to HP pavilliion with i7 2620m, or wait untill there is a laptop with the new amd bulldozer with 8cores, although many benchmarks reveal that it has not the power of the i7.

I'd appreciate any sugestions for new laptop, thank you.

Thanks for the info on X-Plane 10. I have X-9 so i'm looking forward to that as well. Not sure what to make of MS Flight. Will have to wait and see as they release more info.

Also Eagle Dynamics have recently released DCS: Black Shark 2. Many improvements were made over the original. And what's more is they were nice enough to sell two different versions. If you own the original Black Shark, the upgrade version is just $19.99 and the full version is $39.99 :)

I swooped up on the upgrade version.

Anyone else selling X-Plane 10? I don't feel like spending $79 plus shipping.

I asked Amazon and they replied they don't have any available info yet.

Tryed it, and it was like a slideshow compared to FSX.

Wounder what pc you must have to max this out?

No PC currently available can max it out!!!! Austin himself said that. Remember FSX six years ago? This is happening again.

With X-PLANE 10 it is a trial and error. You have to run it at minimum and increasing step by step and see the results.

Now I can say that AI aircraft demands a lot of resources, so I selected none.

    Clouds are FPS killer too.

Number roads, car etc, you have to test i check and make choices as for your preferences, like ATC with AI aircrafts, lots of car in the roads (fantastic by the way, but you have to had a strong system).

But I am sure that the code is being optimized and after some developments, things will be much better, what has not happened in FSX.

Check it out at Aerosoft site and forum.

I had only 2 fps lol, and it was far from the highest setting.

What is most importent to the X-plane 10, cpu or gpu?

    In FSX it is cpu

I guess a strong GPU and the more cores, the better.

FSX and X-PLANE 9 are more CPU dependent. The more cpu clockspeed, the better. No use of multi-thread. Now it has changed.

Sounds abit odd as FSX runs like butter in FullHD very high(in my area) and the X-plane 10 not, even if xplane use more cores. My cpu is Intel i7 740qm and have 4 cores and 4 virtuel cores.

So i dont get it, FSX wich not use multicores atleast not more than 2, runs great but xplane not even if it use more cores

Yes i know FSX is 6 year but still

Disable your AI aircraft (I believe it is in Aircrafts), disable HDR, put all the options at default and see what happens. In wheater, select none clouds.

I believe that X-Plane will be optimized in time, now I think we are beta testing.

Remember that x-plane is a software created and managed by only one man, bussines are diferent, maybe he needs to release the product and improve with time.

MS maybe have released a more stable software (FSX), but only have one improvement, that was Acceleration, after that, nothing.

X-Plane 9 is in version 9.70, lots of revisions and improvements.

The only thing that still bothers me is that on MS Flight page I haven't seen any other scenery apart Hawaii. And also no good planes (i.e. B737). I think it's about time to show us some heavy metal if they are +/- in the beta status...

Beware the price is outrageous because it was just released. I paid $79.95 plus $7.95 shipping but I love flying games as well and was totally immersed in X-Plane 9 more so than FSX.

And X-Plane 9 ran smooth as butter with very aggressive graphics settings on my E6700 Dual Core CPU.

    Yes and no ;)

Yes if you want to spend $750 for the Pro developers USB version and No if you want the consumer version. The consumer version ships out 12-7. Within 30 minutes of placing my order I received an email from the X-Plane developer saying my copy is ready to be shipped. :)

As far as I know, the software is the same. Pro is used with certified hardware and is FAA certified too.

But if you don't want to be a FAA certified, there is no reason to buy the pro.

The home version is 8 DL DVD's, that's why it is not dowloadable.

It has the entire planet scenery, but if you want save disk space, you can install only the part of the globe that you want to fly.

You cant even compare X-Plane 10 to Microsoft Flight or Flight Simulator X.
Its in a totally different league. :)

But Microsoft Flight is a Free 2 Play title, and it will only offer a certain area of Hawaii.
The rest of the land masses and airplanes will be DLC, and im guessing it will be rather pricey like they did with Age of Empires Online.
Might be able to snag a season pass for the DLC to get it a little cheaper.

First of all you should do this: Bojote's Tweaking and Tuning tool for FSX
Secondly, setting everything on "ultra high" isn't a good idea. You may have a powerful rig, but FSX is very bugged. You should cut some on water details, autogen and something else, can't figure out right now. I've got a tweaked .cfg which I stored in the safe place. Saves time setting up sim if I reinstall FSX :D.

On the side note, PMDG said that they gonna try to port one of their planes to XP10. It looks like it's time to start sving dough on that game :D.

I spent more time trying to get FSX to run right and without crashing than actually playing, even post SP2. FSX was like the Vista of Windows OS's.

^^^True. It takes me about 2h to make a clean install of Win7+ installing all necessary software and setting it up. FSX takes a whole day to do so and I spend at least a week or two afterwards tweaking it. But afterwards it's pretty rock solid, until you install some new add-on after which it starts to crash. You uninstall it, but it still crashes. My recent Win7 reinstallations were due to FSX, I messed it up installing some add-ons.

And the bad part is FSX NEEDS add-on's to be acceptable for me (namely weather and AI traffic) but it just kills its stability.

Hey guys, just wanted to pass along that Microsoft Flight is now available for download:

    Microsoft Flight

It's definitely worth checking out, it's an interesting direction they have taken the series. Looks good and runs great on my G73, so was pleased about that.

It's not as sterile and serious as FSX, which is good and bad of course, but I think it's at least worth a fair shot. So far I'm enjoying it.

Check it out, I'm reserving a final opinion until I get to play more. The flight model seems to be decent at least, I was afraid it would be watered down too much, and it is with mouse control enabled, but allows full control with that mode disabled.
