Left 4 Dead sales went up 3000% during the weekend half-price deal!!! From this, you can definately expect more good deals coming up... companies will always follow the money.

Left 4 Dead was the first game I bought off steam since Counter Strike Source 4 years ago LOL. If they keep pumping out deals like that, I'm gonna be all over their games.

L4D is the first i have bought off of steam EVER

 

L4D was my 3rd game off steam I actually found out about left 4 dead because of steam which is pretty neat.

 

It's not fair! Why the hell they offered this deal on L4D exactly when I was completely broke? Should have waited for me

 

i found out about the deal like that as well after installing The Orange Box, should have looked on steam was half the price

 

I got Steam initially way back in 2004 when I traded a Gmail invitation for a Half Life CD key. Been a Valve fan ever since.

 

I'm pretty sure they also just had a half off all Rockstar games a few weeks ago....haha.

 

dont think that GTA 4 was part of that, otherwise i would have gotten it

I need left 4 dead and GTA 4 still. Would like to spend less than $30 on either of 'em, and I missed the 50% off deal for l4d this weekend !

In the event you are stuck and have to decide which to get, go for Left 4 Dead, I got both and have the same system you'll be happier with Left 4 Dead. Unless you got the 185.something drivers then GTA will run fine.

Sometimes there is game's deals that is only available to US users, what is the chance of me offending their EUA by bypassing the region protection? Or having someone from the US to buy me the game while I pay them extra?

Hard to go wrong for $4.99, but console ports often manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

 

Does this have multiplayer ? I only played the demo, if it does have multiplayer is it any good?

 

Multiplayer yes. Good? I don't know, I'm still downloading mine. I'll check it out maybe later tonight but I'm sure someone else who already owns it or can try it before me can let you know.

 

I guess this is capcom's idea to push out the awareness for the franchise now that lost planet 2 is on the way.

 

I bought it 2 hours ago when I noticed the ad as I logged on to Steam. At 5 bucks, it was a definite buy considering I wanted to get it at some point.

Maybe, but it's mostly just a weekend deal. Happens every weekend

 

Got myself a copy, cheapest game I've bought yet.

 

This is actually against their TOS, and can get your steam account with all of the games you bought permanently disabled.

Also, the weekend sales are actually a research study on buyer behavior conducted by valve. Participation in the study is entirely up to the developer of the game, or whoever owns the rights to it.

Basically they are doing these constant deals to try and find the sweet spot between unit sales, and price. And while the choice to do Lost Planet at this point may have been to get more people interested in the 2nd game, it's still just part of this experiment.

 

I will say that Lost Planet is worth the five bucks if you have a decent GPU. I run it on my 4870 and it's a beautiful game, if not particularly great.

If you want mindless action entertainment in a pretty environment, you could do a heck of a lot worse.

...still a crappy console port, though.

 

Just bought the game after playing the demo last night.

Seems repetitive, yet highly addictive. The gameplay also feels pretty solid, considering the amount of abuse this game has received from critics.

£3.50 well spent, i say

 

Well technically, there are some companies that restrict where their game is sold in which regions, I'm not really sure why, whether it's because of tax-type reasons or they simply don't want to deal with it.

There IS a way you can buy it, through use of a proxy, but that's questionable ethically, and I would also be hesitant about doing it through a strange proxy, dealing with credit cards and what not.

But if you have a friend that lives in the States, or even a fellow NBR friend you trust, they can easily gift you the game and you can pay them back. I'm pretty sure there is nothing illegal about that. It's how I got the game Prey back when it was 5 bucks, had a friend on Hardforum gift it to me and I paypalled him the money.

The game is being bought in the States and basically sent to you. I even doubt it's a loop hole because if Valve didn't want that, they could have easily stopped it from happening.

 

I'm actually thinking of VPN and use payment method that don't review your address. But I guess it is just not worth it overall, I miss $5 Bioshock .

I'm kinda sad I didn't end up buying Lost Planet. Sure, my computer probably wouldn't have run it well and I would have had to wait for my desktop, but for $5, you can't really go wrong. Oh well.
