"Official" Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review and Discussion- by yours truly

tell me about it, i was good at stabbing before those perks (ie was veteran III by level 20). Once I put UAV jammer etc on I could pull off knifing like mad.

 

I use Last stand, deep impact and....something else, that I can't even remember.

As for weapon - AK with red dot sight. My favorite by far

 

Yh for me stopping power is a must with pretty much all my callses. It would be so mcuh more better if we could configure 10 callses ourselfs.

Stuff that should be in patch 1.5:
Ability to search for servers that have Hardcore mode or Old school mode as its impossible to tell which ones have it enabled which is very, very stupid.
Include those new gameplay features that the 360 version was patched with.
New maps that are more open, have bigger stairwyas, doors etc for PC gamers (as most maps are made for consoles)
Ability to click on a server from the server list that you want to join and then add it to your favourites by clciking a button (like wolfenstein enemy terriotry, a last gen game ffs)
Ability to add a server to your favourites while your on the server as now u must note down the ip on paper and add it to your favourties after to leave the server (again Wolfenstein enemy territory had this helpful feature)
Ability to chose to be a spectator at the start of the match (when your able to pick the 2 teams) as currently you must chose a team, clckc "Change Team" ands then click Spectator which can be annoying.

 

All I want them to do for patch is the following:

- Fix the Server Browser (Please, Please, Please!).
- Tone down grenade radius and damage slightly.
- Tweak guns for more realistic bullet ballistics.

 

I say the grenade radius should only be reduced for when its used in the Martydom perk.

 

Guys make sure to turn on "specular map" in the graphics options so your golden weapons actually look gold.

The performance hit is not too bad.

 

Stopped using martyrdom. Pro players know how to avoid it.

 

Martyrdom is the only annoying perk I find. Sometimes I get frustrated with Last Stand, but it's a good tactic. Mow someone down, they fall into a grassy area, you can't see them, but they can see you!

 

quick question - what is specular map and what is depth of field (i think thats the name) ?

 

Specular map is a special type of lighting where lights are reflected more realistically. Depth of field is that effect that our eyes experience when viewing things which are different distances. When viewing the farther object the close objects in the side of our vision become blurred. Theres a picture of it in my review with the pistol.

 

Yeah I am experiencing pinga above 3,500. I know my router isnt messed up because when i click on 'favorites' the pins show correctyl ( around 50), but in the master server window it shows them all above 3,000. I have restarted my router, uninstalled the game (deleted the games registry value) reinstalled the game, nothing is working. This is patch 1.4 by the way. Anyone know whats going on here?

 

Martyrdom is the only really cheap perk that exists, I have never used it for more than thirty minutes in all the time I have played (I am Level 55), I classify anyone who uses it is cheap and unskillful.

Its not that hard to avoid but its a pain in the ass, there are already enough grenades going off everywhere so we do not need a guy to drop one when he is killed.

Specular map is fantastic, it pretty much makes the graphics look "next-gen". It's to do with how lights reflect off world objects.

So you should never disable it.

If you want a good performance boost, disable shadows and dynamic lights. Depth of field lowers performance too and may hinder gameplay a bit.

 

Well we all know the in-game browser is ****ed up big time at the moment so I use game-monitor.com to find and connect to servers via I.P. Thing is, there are tons of idiots out there running 1.0 and 1.2 COD4 servers instead of 1.4. And there is no way to filter by game version so it is now becoming quite a task to find and join a damn game server. After my fourth or fifth failed try I go play another game, its just too much trouble. The in-game browser is just terrible.

PATCH 1.5 couldnt come any sooner. When i first got the game (at patch 1.2) the servers would all show up within 1 second and there would be many servers with low pings giving you a nice choice to pick from, but now its a different story all together. Firstly it takes 10 seconds for servers to show up, then they take ages showing up and they are all high ping servers. This is very annoying as i have to use the 1 server that i have saved in my favourites.

Another thing i that PRESTEGE mode should be put into the PC version asap as once your on LV55 and play on it gets veryyyyy boring.

 

Just beat it. I wasn't a huge fan of the first few levels, but after that it was pretty awesome. I'm going to play through in noir mode soon.

 

I loved the story so much, I think I'm going to install CoD2 just to get some more of that FPS drug Infinity Ward has created!
