Did you turn off multicore rendering? And dont use recommended, they were pretty crappy for me. Find your own settings.
-
edit: Set mat_queue_mode to 0, locked up into a loop on the intro video(gameplay intro, not the intro before the menu)..... -
Mr. Bojangles, just put de shaders on medium. Thats all you need. It will sacrifice some eye candy but that's what bogs you down the most.
A friend of mine has the same card as you, and uses the recommended settings (with 2x AA and 4x AF) and all high, but medium shaders which yields great performance. Multicore rendering is also enabled.
with my old laptop equipped with 9500M GS, I used the same: recommended with medium shaders and worked like a charm. -
I actually see the biggest performance increase from disabling Detail Effects, but now it just locks up into sound loops. -
I need some allies to go witchhunting with me
-
that looks crazy
-
coriolis, I got your back man! too bad the health packs and ammo are on the other side of the room
-
By gawd...
-
Can anyone possible win that?
-
I doubt it haha. Maybe if everyone was alive, on Easy, with auto shotguns, and everyone had a pipe bomb, everyone throw in, close door and just spray at the door.
-
-
you'd probably need atleast one molotov thrown in there to light em up, then toss in 3 pipe bombs. "hey, this isn't where I parked my c........"
-
Anyone up for a game? Been itching for some Expert campaign multiplayer games.
Steam = coriolis -
I <3 that Zoey x witch pic~ :3
Anyways, I'm always up for a game~ Finally completed one expert mission with 18 tries, all on the final chapter of No Mercy T-T.
Steam: Hirohata -
Coriolis,I tried adding you to my Steam friends list, but it couldn't find you for some reason. I'm pretty new to Steam so I could be doing something wrong.
Hirohata, I added you.
My Steam nickname: -swerve- (that's my nickname, not the account name... that's what you need, right?) -
Try baka.coriolis then, for steam.
-
I'm not sure about now, but in the past if you wanted to directly add someone through Steam Friends, you needed to add their account name.
Now you can simply search their Steam nickname through the Steam Community and then select the 'Add as Friend' button. -
-
my steam name is jonhapimp and my nickname is inf3ct jonhathepimp except in weird characters the problem with steam is when your friends change there name it's really confusing
-
So what's everyone's thoughts on the updates? I've had this since it came out and I've seen them all. Personally, I get more bored with every update. They removed the ability to change the difficulty, I was pretty mad. This last update was 50/50 for me. I like the new infected HUD, but now the hunter is so easy to knock away. I don't understand valvE's intentions. They take a niche idea, zombie apocalypse, and try to make it mainstream.
I'm waiting for my new laptop as of now, so I can't play it for a few weeks. It's pretty sad. -
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
they kinda messed up. i agree. changing difficulty on versus was awesome. why take away the option?
and the hunter was hard enough to play before he was gimped. -
Anybody else playing this and getting some bad ping/performance recently? The last few days, maybe for about a week, most of the servers I join I only have 1-2 connectivity bars. I've had multiple servers kick the party upon startup. Also, I tried using the manual server list and I usually end up with no response from servers that are <50 ping. It takes longer to find a random party too, though that may be due to fewer people playing?
-
it seems like steam is having some trouble picking up servers lately, but it'll probably go away soon, if had a few successful games with good servers

ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
the only problem ive encountered is when trying to have a campaign game and it kept making it a Versus game ???
but other then that all is going well, got 2 campaigns complete -
omfg blood harvest is really hard on expert during the finale without any Molotovs seriously i've tried two times and there are none on the finale so if you don't bring one your screwed
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
ive only completed No Mercy and Death Toll
will be aiming for the other 2, cant wait til good campaign mods come out -
i've completed all of them except blood harvest to get what are you trying to prove achievement
-
, he spawned number of pipes and molotovs, that's when we finally won. Only one made it BTW.
-
To me, the campaigns are in these difficulty terms:
No Mercy - Easiest on Expert.
Death Toll - Second Easiest on Expert.
Blood Harvest - Second Hardest on Expert.
Dead Air - Hardest on Expert.
Why Dead Air?, during the finale, there are no places to take shelter in, unlike in No Mercy (Rooftop / Supplies Building), Blood Harvest (Barn, Farmhouse, Storage Area next to the House) or Death Toll (Boathouse, Small Cabin By The Boathouse), it took me and my team about 18 tries total to get past the finale, and we kept dieing on the 2nd Tank, all the time, only two of us made it alive that time.
Runway works really well in Dead Air, but the Corner at the back of the stage, by the crashes airplanes is even better, since the infected take a long time to get to you, and the horde does, too. Also, you can mow the hordes with Pistols if there are 8 Pistols in your team and the Specials, and there is a lot of empty space to fight the Tank.
I got all but one of the achievements already (Lamb 2 Slaughter, it is bugged). -
Actually Dead Air is the easiest to me especially the finale
You can do the finale behind the plane (best place that works 100% if you have people understand where zombies will be coming from), in the closet (2 in front shove and 2 back shoot, also works) or the dark corner (I don't know if you heard of it, but that's what people call it) it's somewhere near the closet, all survivors just sit on the same spot and shove. There are also some other places but these are the best IMO.
-
There's a room on the back wall that's incredibly easy to keep and hold in Dead Air. The hardest part about dead air is getting to the plane if you're back there.
-
the dead air finale is really easy, all of them are easy EXCEPT BLOOD HARVEST because the ai director doesn't want to give us any Molotov's i've played all of the campaigns twice on expert and i beat all of them except blood harvest. in dead air we just got against the wall behind the plane and just duked it out there
-
-
I managed to complete No Mercy on Expert solo, without any teammates.

Sorry but you're wrong.
In campaign mode:
Tanks go slightly slower than a green survivor when they are NOT burning. Shooting them will slow them down further. However, if you set them on fire they will speed up like crazy.
In versus mode:
Tanks don't change speed when set on fire. They will go at the same speed as the Tank in campaign mode that is not burning, which means slightly slower than a green survivor.
Here is the proof (from the Steam forums): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0RWVqboVjI -
-
Burning Balls is correct, I was suprised my self when I found this out. It makes no sense to for him to be faster on fire..
-
You're right, circling around big objects is one of the best ways to avoid the tank. In Dead Air, I can stay out of reach of the Tank easily by circling around the plane/escape vehicle. Even when he is on fire!
The Tank is best at catching up when going diagonally, so try to run away in a straight line.
It's important to remember the speed difference between Versus and Campaign mode. (Although the general rule is to always set him on fire). In Versus, set him on fire and shoot him. In Campaign, set him on fire and RUN for your life. -
I like to fight the finale tanks in the barn. You can kite him up and down the ladder, or up the hay bales. EZ without molotovs. Death toll is the easiest. They ALWAYS give you molotovs.
The dead air tanks can be kited around the plane. EZ mode.
No mercy tanks can be kited to the left of the radio building (if you are facing the building). Start with the tank on the ground and position yourself on the building left of the radio building (if you are facing the radio building). As the tank goes to climb up the air conditioner, run along the pipes to the minigun. He will hop off the air conditioner and run along the ground and try to climb up the side of the minigun. Then run along the pipes as he grabs the side of the building. Run along the pipes back to the left building. The tank will fall back off the main building back on the ground. As he goes to climb the left building, run back along the pipes.
Blast him as you run along the building. If he climbs all the way up and you aren't halfway accross the pipes, then he'll run along the pipes and you have screwed it up.
Another way is climb to the top of the main building. As he grabs the edge to climb up, jump over him and jump down the laddar. Rather than jumping down after you, he'll go down the stairs. When he shows his face at the bottom of the stairs immediately climb back up the ladder. He'll run up the stairs and you just shoot him as he shows his face. Then jump off. Rinse and repeat. -
Have you played AS the tank in Versus yet? Its pretty fun -
Yeah I've been playing L4D since the pre-release demo.
During the early days, playing as a Tank was sooo easy because no one knew how to stand against him. Nowadays it's getting really hard because most of the survivors know how to deal with the Tank.
Some Tank tips for anyone who has bought the game recently:
1) Never chase green survivors, they will outrun you
2) Never hit an incapped survivor, concentrate on the ones that are still standing
3) Avoid fire
4) ALWAYS try to surprise them from behind
5) Infected can see through walls, use this to surprise and ambush survivors who are trying to circle around you
6) You MUST coordinate with the boomer. The boomer is the most useful sidekick for the Tank, since he can blind them and trap them in the horde.
7) Use hunters/smokers to grab the survivors after they separate, a good tactic is to use the hunter to finish off incapped survivors (i.e. kill the ones that are incapped). This is useful when the enemy team is highly organised against the Tank.
8) Don't kill your own team mates, for example if a hunter has pinned a survivor, don't try to hit him... just chase the other ones. -
i'm not sure if it still works, but before they released that patch last month, anyone with pistols could slow down the tank dramatically. so it became easy for people to revive downed teammates by having a person with a pistol shoot the tank.
Burning Balls left out one of my favorite tips:
Use the environment to your benefit. if you see a forklift, hit it at the survivors. learn how to bait with the tank and you'll always win with it.
it seems whenever i play with my friends and we get tank, we kill all 4 survivors. -
