Official NBR Battlefield 3 Clan Server Thread

I just added the server to my favorites but I can't get on to play until later in the evenings (mountain time). I wouldn't mind donating some $ in a few weeks when I start my new job.

 

I just made some changes to the server through my cell phone. Hopefully they will let us play with fewer people and start a basic map rotation. I will try and do more later.

I used it a lot for BFBC2 and it had a lot of neat features, like showing where on a map people died and other info like that. However, most of the functionality for BF3 has not been added in yet; I can't seem to get the in game admin functions working on my server but the kicking/banning functions work fine. I don't think that the reserved slot system works yet, but it might in the future if it does not already.

 

How do I type messages in the game for others to see? I'm SSG_Tillman btw

 

Hit the J key to chat in game. I am going to use Deaglesons mumble server. It has 4 channels so squads can be of their own channel or whatever you want.

Is anyone in the game now? Did my changes work? It should now start with any # of player and switch between 2 maps. Best I can do from a cell phone.

Just played a round, but then next round waited about 10 minutes waiting for 8 players and had to leave... Tillman you can dance! ha

Is 8 the minimum of players to start a round? Seems a bit annoying. Also, for voice communication is Mumble the only or best option? I play with a headset and I'm a bit tired of typing, but don't know how to set up voice.

 

It should be starting with fewer players. I will try and fix it, I am restarting the server now.

 

Cool, yeah just tried about 10 minutes ago and seven of us were waiting patiently to start but never for the 8th person... thanks for setting all this up! I'll try again later tonight, starting with less than eight will help starting out for sure.

 

Weird, every time I try to connect to the server the game crashes on my system, only this server, anybody else experiencing this issue with the NBR server?

The very first time I had a crash with it yes, but it seems that whatever my very first server I try to play on the first time I launch, I crash... ie, yes NBR server but also every other server... dunno.

But, once I try again, it works every time until I close everything down and try again for the first time.

 

Dang, that sucks you guys had to wait like that, all I had to do to make it run with 1 person is restart the server (which I did from my cell phone).

It is now up and running and will run with even 1 person it! Practice time.

I need recommendations on game types and maps.

Also I need some people with plenty of spare time to be admins. I am only available to game 3-4 days a week, and on my days off I will not be able to admin at all. Volunteers should be experienced with computer maintenance and have time to spare. Being a good playing and having a high Kill/Death ration is NOT required.

 

I just got on. I'll just let it idle and if enough people get on I may not be able to play much but I'll move the mouse on occasion so I don't get booted and give you guys a chance to screw around.

 

Awesome, that will be much better... we had seven guys literally just standing there watching each other jump before we finally gave up ha. I'm sure it will get much better with a bit of time, I'll keep an eye on it

My only suggestion is keep Metro and Damavand out of the Conquest rotation. About the only thing interesting about the latter is the base jump which is only doable in Rush!

Hakirak needs to be autokilled when he gets in the IFV in sqdm.

Also you guys may want to take Tehran Highway out of the rotation for now. For some reason it lags (rubberbanding) on basically every server, so most have it out of the rotation right now until DICE fixes it (AKA never...).

Well I think the first day was a success. We had several good games and a surprising turnout for the 1st day.

So far the server is funded for one month. If we collect enough we can get a discount a fund it for a lower rate.

Deagleson's mumble server works great despite being in Norway, I highly recommend you use it. I have been getting killed by Hakirak and Shobster, hearing them coordinate my death is interesting.

I will be gone all day tomorrow but will return on Friday. HTwingnut is an Admin so he will run the show.

Anyone who wants to volunteer to be an admin let us know.

 

I might join in and all next week and I might contribute funding. I have been overworked over the last two weeks and it will all end for a bit next week...

 

Just had our first donation. Thanks for getting on board. If you donate, please PM Htwingnut or myself so we can add you to the list. The ClanPay system tells us your PayPal name, but we all only know your NBR or BF3 name. All we need in the PM is your name so we can cross reference it with the donation list.

 

Also it might be a good idea for someone to draft up a set of rules for the server so once it gets more popular both Admins and players will know where they all stand as far as what is acceptable and what isn't.

Also, you might want to look into getting some sort of forum section or stickied thread made so people can appeal bans and things like that.

I think the highlight of last night for me was Sh0bster's death defying leap from the transport chopper to the gunner seat in the attack chopper.

 

Damn, I hate paypal. Was trying to make a payment but apparently I have to do this monkey dance verification. You'd think they were on the front lines in the war on terror given all the hoops I have to jump through. Gotta setup a phone call, use a PIN, now they want to mail a letter, send them a photo ID, all this verification stuff is crap. And it turns out the money is on hold for an order I placed a few days ago. I just did this verification stuff a few weeks ago

Anyway I'll be sending my share as soon as I get all this stuff done. I had a lot of fun lastnight. Especially doing the samething over and over, and dying the same way over and over

Is this only for NBR server, if so I'm in. Though I don't play much BF3 but I do play a few hours a day.

 

Yes, exclusive for NBR, although we want it publicly populated but will bump users for NBR users if it comes to that.

By the way, I started a 16 man server with a few friends of mine to practice, but restricted it to 8 players. Didn't realize you can't make them unranked yet, and after I did a bunch of stupid deaths lol. Started the server basically to practice flying and trying out the vehicles. Feel free to hop in, but it's for practicing only. Don't shoot others unless they confirm it's ok. Me and a few buddies have strict control over it so it may reset or bump to the next map on a whim. Please share the vehicles, and give myself, chiefdog69, and Dohb0y priority if we want it.

It can run with only a single person on the map and set vehicles to respawn at 20% normal time it takes (varies map to map). They are all conquest large maps and most have airplanes and/or helicopters.

PM me for link and password. I only plan on running it for a month, but if it's useful maybe another month, hopefully unranked will be available soon.

I will put out a list of donors once I have time to figure it out. I will keep the amounts confidential though. FYI the money donated goes into an account for us held by gameservers.com. It does NOT go into anyone's personal PayPal account. We are free to spend the money on whatever services we want. The more money in the account, the longer term we can buy service, which reduces the overall price.
