Looks like the command to unlock all weapons even on unranked servers has been disabled. Sigh. What is DICE doing?

 

Are you sure, I just played in one yesterday with Philiphan (thanks for the flying lessons). I guess it is possible that the new update removed it.

Oh and I was excited about Caspian Tower falling. It's a scripted event at the end of the round. How dumb. Give us the chance to blow it up.

It encouraged me to leave after one game that's for sure.

 

We can skip the knife play tonight, not my style either (although I could see trying for a short round).

I will be in the NBR server sometime between 6-7pm pacific, and will stay as late as I my eyes can handle it.

 

I'm always up for trying something new, but no one was on the same page. I'm running around with a pistol and getting picked off by the same sniper time after time.

 

We need to be careful with things like pistol/knife only. It's considered stat padding and EA can reset your stats or worse ban your account.

 

Or shutdown the server as well.

HT's new server is unranked I really want to get some time in, got the kids all weekend though so not sure how I will find the time.

BTW Deagle do we have DI this Friday? I think we don't so that means Friday night I may be free.

Maybe BF3 night for me then, or SC2.

 

Yeah my server is fun just to go in and check out all the weapons, fly choppers, jets, and drive tanks a bit, plus check out the maps if you're a newb.

I may have a few days with rush maps only so you can go in and blow up all the M-com's and see where they're at. Helps when you actually get in game instead of making it to the general area of the M-com and not being able to find it! That happened to me a few times.

Finally getting the feel of the M98b so now i can pull off some nice ranged kills.
Still gotta get the hang of the bullet speed though.

I'd recommend turning idle time lower and team balance on as that tdm on caspian got to a point of no fun with just 2-4 against 8 with 2 people idle on my team.

Server has been updated to play the 4 new Karkland maps.

Admins, Procon doesn't support it yet so don't delete the maps unless you find a way to add them back.

Played on the server several nights ago and had quite a bit of fun playing team deathmatch - think it was around 8v8 or 7v7. I just don't know if playing conquest on that server will ever really work out.

 

We've done it a few times. Works well with the smaller maps.

 

Is it limited to the small maps though?

 

I remember this one time where we actually managed to fill the server up to 32 players. Then Grand Bazaar showed up and 75% of of the people left.

I think it'd help to fill up the servers IF:

- People would remove the *NBR* clan tag from their nick.
- Be more talkative in chat.
- Tell non-NBR friends to join the server.

Squad Deathmatch needs to go away though, It's hard to get people to join when there's a 4v4 already going on, and it seems like a pretty un-popular game mode.

TDM or Squad Rush is a great way to fill up the server up to about 8-14 players, after that either a round of Rush or CQ on a fun map should seal the deal, assuming there's about 6-8 NBR ppl in the server to start off with.

Also, since the server is going with fast vehicle respawn, we might want to have that mentioned in the server name, since some people (not me) like fast vehicle spawn. A lot of people on the other hand though (including me) like a *slower* vehicle respawn timer and the server might want to advertise that instead (just a suggestion). I know a few "Slow vehicle repspawn" servers in europe and they're almost always full.

 

I think stock respawn times are fine. Not sure why you would want people to remove their NBR clan tag though? That's the point of having a server and playing together.

 

On several occasions when we're about 12-14 people in the server, and an admin re-arranges the team so all the NBR people (of which about 80% are on mumble) is on one team and the other "random" players on the other. Kind of discouraging to play when they see the scoreboard with tons of (NBR) tags on the same time while getting owned, so people end up leaving pretty quick. Also add to the fact that some of us are colonel ranked while most of the times the random players are around lvl 10-35

 

It's fine if a handful of people are wearing the nbr tag, if they end up on the same team people expect as much anyways. A lot of you guys wear tags from other platoons as well which is just fine. It does look really intimidating/bad when you've got 12 nbr tags on one side, so I can see where ht is coming from... but like I said it just doesn't really happen.

Some of the things you've brought up are things we need more people to chime in on, too. I like conquest, I don't like rush or TDM much. I very much prefer maps with vehicles, more-so air vehicles. I'm stuck on what to think about vehicle respawn timers; on the one hand slow respawns encourages treating the vehicles as important assets/targets, making it seem more battlefield-like... on the other hand, slow respawns heavily discourages anyone without a service star from taking a vehicle, or if they are lame and don't care what other people think they'll drive off and die within a minute, crippling the team and leading to rage. Fast respawns as it is right now encourages new players to hop in and give it a whirl because if they get shot down the vehicle will be up again quickly, and it makes it fun for those of us who prefer certain vehicles coughheliscough.

There's nothing we can do about rank stacking though, since we're only allowed 1 soldier.

 

Well said, personally I'm not a big fan of TDM/Rush either, but it seems like a good/better way to bring in people when the server is low on players.

I also prefer maps with vehicles (the way BF should be played). The Infantry maps could be thrown in once in a while as a change of pace (It's not like I hate them), but still focus should be on the larger maps with air vehicles on. Just my opinion.

In terms of Faster/Instant vs Standard/Slower vehicle spawn, while I see there's pros/cons of each setting, the people running the server will have to make a choice. There are tons of unranked practice servers out there for people who want to practice, however some players don't have the time to practice and just want to get in on some stress free action once in a while with people on mumble. If it's a question of "cba to practice so boring geez so what if I crash" well taking that path will be a lot longer (and more hurtful) for the team than just practicing.

Whatever happens in regards to the vehicle spawn timers, I still think it should be mentioned in the server name in Battlelog since I know respawn timers affect the choice of servers for some people.
