Here are some new ones from today. I decided to go heavy with NOD and I made 10 Avatars, each costing 2200. Then I made 10 Stealth Tanks and 10 Flame Tanks and upgraded my Avatars using those 20 tanks and the cost came out to 49,000.
Just using those 10 Avatars, and some Venoms and Attack Bikes for anti air/infantry support I beat all 3 enemies.
Attack Bikes - Stealthed; Anti-Air
Avatars - Front View
Avatars - Back View; Flamethrowers

some pics of me scouting on D2 in a great server. (i admin there) -
Cool. Let's see some other people posting screenshots guys!

in online games, if you're nod, just early scorpion rush them after de-stabilizing their economy with some stealth gliders , gdi, use the medium tank mass rush them, if your scirn, beef up your def and wait for late game as thats when they're most powerful
using mammy rush = too late game and any scirn would wipe them out easy by using the teleport and the mothership trick
or just PAC and devastator (with ions storm activated for extra def for PAC and devastators combo) with annihilators teled at the back -
Actually, I know how to play strategically...especially with Nod. I utilize all their powers to destroy my enemies. My favorite methods are using stealth and hit and run tactics, but I also know how to steamroll. I know all about rushing, using Shadow Teams....(not Stealth Gliders?...lol)...I won't go into detail about all the tactics I use...
The game in which I took the screenshot of the Mammoth Tanks was after a FFA 8 Player game, with only 2 humans. And I'm not a GDI player....I'm usually Nod so...I don't use their abilities as well as I do Nod's.
Also, when I post screenshots....I post screenshots worthy of posting...ones that look awesome. Would you rather I post a screenshot of a couple of Buggies harassing a player's harvesters?
Lastly, please don't quote and leave the pictures in IMG format. Either link to them instead or just say which one you are talking about. -
hahahah those pics are awesome man
I love the guy floating in Stalker...did you shoot him or something?
Ah....I remember that mission....when you get to Ion Cannon the Temple or defend the base when you are NOD. -
Weak, C&C RA2 was by far the best RTS game of all time. I haven't played it for years, but back when I did I was at the top. I stopped playing games before the release of C&C 3 so I'm not sure how well it goes up against RA2.
-
-
The original C&C was great for its time. C&C3 is kinda cute, but still basically looks like a 1996 RTS. (It has that in common with Starcraft 2, imo)
Funny how it seems only Relic is capable of making innovative RTS games these days.
Unfortunately, I can't find my Dawn of War screenshots, so here are a few from Medieval 2: Total War:
Aztecs look funny
That's my general... Woo!
My crusade has reached Jerusalem. Gogo pilgrims and fanatics!
Taking a few pot-shots at the few surviving attackers
Halberds are cool
Sucks to be the attacker...
Sucks to be the defenders
That's how we deal with attackers around here -
hahahhahah those are some awesome pictures. Medieval 2 looks like fun.

To OP, nice pic and thread.
To everyone else making the analogy between C&C3 and the earlier ones with Starcraft and SC2, don't be so hasty. So you've seen some screenshots of SC2... in pre-alpha stage. Did you read the in-depth reports of those who played it at Blizzcon? It make just look like a "prettier" version of Starcraft, but the gameplay is going to change because they are overhauling over half of the units and adding at least several to every race, plus they way they are doing the story (cinematics) is going to be drastically different. You can say that Blizzard makes big changes with each successive RTS, unlike the C&C franchise which is variations of the same game. Don't get me wrong, I love the C&C series and I agree that RA2 was the best one. -
Well, the main problem with C&C3 and C&C Generals....was the fact that Westwood no longer exists and EA took over....and made it crap tbh (compared to what Westwood brought to the table)
I think if Westwood was still around, C&C3 would have been a much better game and received a lot more support. -
Amen to that illmatic2609!

Have you read the developer interview where they say outright that they think all the innovations that have happened in the RTS genre have made the games worse? That's right, they're saying outright that "all the features that made DoW and other modern RTS'es become such *huge* hits... well, we don't need them. We're going to make Starcraft following the Starcraft recipe. We don't need no stinkin' innovation".
Oh yes, they are changing some of the units, oh yes, the storyline will be different. That is not innovation. Have you played DoW? CoH? SupCom?
The point is that Blizzard is still using the 15 year old recipe, and they have already stated that they will not innovate significantly, and they will also not adopt innovations made by other developers in the genre.
Starcraft 2 is every bit as much "variations over the same game" as C&C3 is. Both refuse to get up to date. Yes, they both come up with some new units, rebalance a few others, update graphics and continue without a new storyline. And no, none of them dare to go beyond that.
(That's not to say SC2 won't be fun to play. It probably will, Blizzard are good at that. C&C3 was fun to play too. But they're still rehashes of the same old recipe, stubbornly ignoring how many improvements and innovations other RTS'es have come up with in the last decade. -
-
Jalf, I see that you're absolutely set in your opinion, so this will be the last post of mine in this debate. You just said that "they will not innovate significantly" - I can agree with that; I didn't say that it's revolutionary with each Blizzard game, but definitely has had some innovations. I'd like you to link the exact article you're quoting there. Also, you're criticizing a pre-alpha build of SC2 that you haven't even seen in person or played, AND are criticizing a company that hasn't made an RTS in 5 yrs. All of the RTSs you named have all come out since then. Yes I've played DoW and SupCom; I agree they're innovative and great games, but that wasn't my point. My issue was with you saying that there is no innovation in Blizzard games and likening their development to C&C: if you truly think that the span of WC1-->WC3 has as little innovation as C&C-->C&C3, then you clearly have not played the Blizzard RTS's much. Or maybe you have something against Blizzard, I dunno? Save this argument for just the C&C franchise, or for when SC2 comes out, and then we'll talk.

might post some pics when i get home
mainly M2 total war ones though.

Oh....a lot of people play Medieval 2 then? I heard of the name....but didn't know if it was good or what.
-
i dont always do that well, but I am usually on top of the list. and since i only scout and most people disregard it, its pretty funny when i kill them with it.
i think more then half of my kills are headshots, which i think is pretty good. -

I can't find the article (I thought I'd saved a link to it), but it was made very soon after the game was announced, and what they said was something like this:
"We feel that many of the so-called innovations made in recent RTS games really detract from the game, so you won't see those from us"
(It was pretty clear that they were talking about SupCom's camera-zoom in particular)
I just thought it was the wrong attitude to take. They sound too much like "We'll do this like we did 10 years ago. Screw all the progress that has been made by other games in the genre"
Of course both companies have innovated and made their marks on the genre. I'm not denying that.
But the amount of innovation from Dune 2 (the first RTS) up to WC3 (the last of the "classic" RTS'es) is very minor compared to what DoW, CoH and SupCom have done. The innovations made in the former games are.... a better interface, hero units and different damage types, and.... uh... Not much more.
Now if we were to list the innovations made by DoW alone:
- mixing melee and ranged combat added another layer to the tactics (allowing you to tie up the enemy's powerful ranged units by engaging them in melee)
- the different races are played completely differently (Starcraft had a bit of this as well, but in DoW, they even have different economies, and different numbers (if you play orks, you'll have maybe 3 times as many units on the map as someone playing space marines, that makes a big difference)
- Cover (I think TA had that as well? In any case, Blizzard/Westwood RTS'es didn't)
- Morale
- Squads
- The reinforcement system, allowing you to replace fallen squad members without having to return to base
... and so on.
Then we have CoH and SupCom as well. All in all, these recent RTS games have completely reinvented the genre. I'd expect Blizzard to at least acknowledge that.
I don't really have anything against Blizzard or their games.
I'm just pointing out that it's not innovation they're most famous for, and from what they've said so far, SC2 will be fairly conventional, even by Blizzard standards. (Who can blame them? They're sure to have a huge hit on their hands)
I don't doubt that it'll be a fun, polished game. And of course it will have a few minor innovations too. It wouldn't be Blizzard otherwise. They're extremely good at making fun, polished games based on existing recipes. (And as lunateck said, that might not be a bad thing either. It means we'll get some "traditional" games as well as all the fancy innovative ones like DoW or SupCom)
But I think it's a shame that they don't seem to take the competition seriously. That they seem to believe that they're still competing against Westwood only, who aren't particularly innovative either. -

I moved shortly after I got baptized. Then after two years of living behind the Zion curtain, I got out of there to save my testimony, lol.
Moving to Italy in two months though - They only have a tiny branch there in the city we are going to - so maybe I'll end up being branch president. Woot!
Now we're REALLY off topic! -
