Thanks for that :) I'll wait before shelling out $50 to access the beta then.

You just download the game, no additionol software required when I bought games from them.

L2 being a better game is an opinion, so I can't comment on that since AION and L2 aren't even similar based on how much I've read about L2.

Been playing C-Aion since I quit war few months back.

I've been playing guild wars a lot... and I really enjoyed it, if aion's worth it I might pay to play even if I'm not for that system(I liked that guildwars was free) But is it true that they changed the system? I mean, they said you pay for a certain amount of hours, but i read in the thread that now you pay for the month, even if you have no time to plya for let's say 2 weeks? If so.... it sucks... :( anyway, I'll see when it comes out, but it's very appealing.

That system is the system they use in Korea and China, and in the east in general.

In the west we have monthly subscriptions. You pay a certain amount(often 15 Dollars) and then you can play as much as you want for that entire month.

In the East, they do things differently. There you pay per minute. So it's like having a phone subscription. Your paying for the call and being taxed every minute. So is it in a MMO in the east.
So if an hour is 50 cent, then playing for 4 hours would cost you two dollars. and to use 15 dollars you would have to play 30 hours in a month.

The reason? There are lots of ideas around, and I dont have the answer, but I have been told by friends who have been to Korea, that its a custom over there to live with your parents until your married. its just their culture. so instead of sitting at home in front of the computer playing games, they have a culture where they go to computer cafees and play with their friend. its a hobby.
Supposedly there are over 20,000 computer cafees alone in Seoul, and they have the most advanced internet in the world. Everywhere is supposedly fibernet, and they have a brodband penetration of 100% which have also meant that they have a cultural thing with many koreans playing online games(including women).
Of course I am speaking about South Korea here.

NCsoft who makes Aion(and publishes Guild Wars) is also South Korean and one of the biggest of their kind in the world. I actually think NCsoft is the biggest, but I cant be too sure.

I hope this makes sense to you.

You do not understand... the leveling curve testing turns out that its like WoW.
Making a beta max-level due to testing and having the leveling curve which is guaranteed to result in hordes of maxed-out newbie characters on release are two different things.

Sigh, I didn't indicate good or evil and it doesn't really matter anyways... the dark side is listed as dark due to the amount of light on their side apparently and no, the sides are not equal as of a few days ago. The Dark side is currently easymode in comparison... and that was from someone who wants to play dark side in release.

From a wiki lookup, (class descriptions list mages and daggers as one-shotters)unless something has changed drastically, my clanny seems to be dead on and you seem to be wrong. I honestly hope you are right...

Here's hoping... to be entirely fair, L2 is stil the best mss PvP engine in release... 5 years after release... I can believe the company that brought us L2 can take 5 years of tech and make something even better.

Apparently they are going to lock down IPs apparently to keep this a regional game. Note this portion is still in development, so yes, what you mentioned might work for now... but that does not seem to be the desired effect.

    FYI
L2 and Aion are similar games... there are some rule changes, but they share MANY things including most importantly potential customer base.

You jump at the ground and miss.

But seriously, is it just me or does this whole flying elves thing seem kind of gay? Might suit a couple of friends of mine for sure. ;)

Me as a asmo 45 templar and elyos 31 chanter, I still haven't seen all of AION has to offer in the 5 ish months that I played and patch 1.5 added loads of PvE content with ridiculous hard raid enounters.

And iirc beta weekends and events only last 2 to 3 days, most people can't reach 20 by that time let alone 25 when u start your first pvp encounter.

I suggest reading reading up on AION.

Well after doing quite a bit of reading, and seeing the speed hacks are still live and REQUIRED for PvP at this point. (1 person with speed hack > 20 people without) AION is a dead game for me.

1v1 officiated tourneys are not the same as open PvP...

The chinese attitude towards hacking and cheats is moot im afraid. But there is hope that NC West takes a firm stand against it, since its socialy unacceptable here in the west.If they don't AION will fail hard no doubt about that ;o

Anyway, an Epic game (for me). Preordered the CE, looking forward to playing it, meanwhile, I spent $5 to play 60 hours on C-Aion.

The more I see the more depressing it is... the game is truly beautiful and a great deal of thought put into the atmosphere, music, and lore.

but the gameplay is designed for the ritalin generation, and cheats and hacks are so much a part of the game that they might as well ship with it...

    So very sad...

It's the same engine as Guild Wars so should run pretty well.

They haven't made a new engine since GW? Does that mean they're developing GW2 on the same engine as the original? That's kind of sad if they are.

actually looks pretty cool. aion also looks good in the pvp department since it's not very equipment-dependent. i might actually have to check this game out while i'm waitin for somethin good to finally come out.
