Has anyone tried running the 174.60 drivers on this system? I'm still looking to replace the stock drivers, but I'm having trouble deciding which to use. I'm pretty set on these now, but if anyones had issues that I should be aware of, can you please let me know.

Also, I had a question for all of you that are constantly changing drivers... Do you guys do complete system purges, or do you just remove them in the add/remove. I know I've read a lot that its good to purge all drivers to avoid duplicate files or incompatibility, but I've also seen some say that it doesn't really matter. What do you guys usually do in terms of this?

    Thanks

Could someone running Vista please open up their Device Manager, go to Action > Print, select "All devices and system summary", and then print it to a PDF and share it?

I do not see Print in the Action menu for Vista. I looked his up online and I cannot find info on how to print a Device Manager Report in Vista, only XP. I'm assuming you are currently using XP due to the contents of your tag. If you find out how to do it in vista I will print this for you.

So I am unable to push the Core clock beyond 575 w/o my games crashing. I can get the Memory clock well into the 900's as I've seen in the forums. Is anyone else having issues reaching the 600 Core that others have been getting in here? It could be the game I'm playing; the Witcher, I hear it's really buggy in Vista.

I also hear installing XP voids your warranty, but couldn't you just uninstall it?

It was late, lol. Totally missed that one.

As far as your clocks, not all gpu's clock the same. I get 600 core and 850 memory but did not push higher. Yep, witcher may be the problem so can you try another? Sorry , don't own witcher yet.

'bout the same as stock, using everest. there seems to be a discrepancy between programs reading CPU temps.

Would any of the 2 options be worthwhile and make the laptop fast enough to last for a year or so if I can get the T7250 for a good price?
I am not sure if I will get the 1.66 or 1.83 CPU with the laptop so I include both options:

    1.66 (T5450 2MB cache 667FSB) to 2.00 (T7250 2MB cache 800FSB)
    1.83 (T5550 2MB cache 667FSB) to 2.00 (T7250 2MB cache 800FSB)

In the 2nd case I know that 1.67GHz is not much but the FSB will be 800 rather than 667. If the T7250 is very cheap is it still worth upgrading to that?

Ask nTune to reset to factory clocks. This program could use an update but does everyting include log temps in the back ground and generate a text file without a fuss.

Your stock clocks should be core 500 and mem bus 799. You can also create profiles to jump right back to your custom settings after a restart, much safer than flashing a 7900GS.

Sure, LOTS of satisfied customers with stock CPU. You may be happy with the stock speeds for games or invest for video encoding and such, if needed.

Mine was original 1.66, It was fine for most things, if it comes with the 1.83 then better yet.

I was asking if an upgrade to a 7250 (2.0GHz, 800fsb) that I can get for a cheap price is worthwhile

Is that $165 or £165? I checked Ebay and the lowest price I found for a new CPU is $199 + postage which is too much for me at the moment.

If it is $165 please give me the link and I will get one. If it is £165 then I think I will get the T7250 as I will only pay £40 for it.

For more than £100 I could get the
    T8300: £126.60 http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sspec=slapu
    T9300: £171.00 http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sspec=slaqg

but cannot afford these either at the moment.

    Sorry, fingers get tangled.

Sure, yes, if it's cheap enough. I was trying to say, try your stock processor out before you make up your mind. For gaming I would vote no. Your mem buss will always be 677 due to our chip set.

I will check then what I get on Friday. If it's the 1.66GHz T5450 then I am going to exchange it for the 2.0GHz T7250. If I get the 1.83GHz T5550 then I am staying with that and get an 2.4GHz T8300 in a couple of months.

This will be my backup laptop anyways and I only got it just because it was so cheap.

In 1 hour I am getting a M570RU-U clone, in which I am putting an X9000 and hopefully getting it to work at 3.2GHz. I got the Blu-ray drive as well and getting my first movies from Amazon tomorrow. Should be fun!

What is a M570RU-U clone? I thought Clevo made that to be re-badged by whoever?

    When I said clone I meant re-badged. It is a Novatech x80r.
Run 3Dmark06 with some overclocking on the card and got 11371, very happy!

Love the info from eveyone on this forum. Bought my lappy a few months ago and LOVE it! Does anyone know how to set up RAID on this laptop? Scanned through most of the forum and did not find any info on setting it up.

    Thanks!

Okay so I've had my 6831fx for a year now, and i recently ran 3dmark06 for the first time in a few months. The score i got confused and distressed me. I got about 6700 3D marks out of this thing. The last time i checked, I'm pretty sure i was hovering around the 7000 mark. So is this supposed to happen?

    Please help!

If you're still interested, you probably need newer video drivers from http://www.LaptopVideo2Go.com You will need to download the nVidia driver (on their site as well) and their custom INF file. Uncompress the drivers to a folder then copy the INF file into that same folder and overwrite the existing INF.

You will want to try different drivers because some of them are beta and have performance issues. I look at the user reviews on each driver before I think about installing them.

BTW, Windows 7 RTM 64-bit runs fantastic on this machine! WOOOO!
