Not to keep this going, but just because one companies top model is not comparable to another doesn't mean they don't have one. Just because the top model of the Mustang is nowhere near as fast / expensive as the top model Ferrari doesn't mean they aren't both sports cars. They are for different buyers.
-
Not yet, anyway. But they're growing. Which means there is competition.
-
A Ferrari buyer is unlikely to purchase a Mustang "instead" of a Ferrari model, just the same as a "Mustang" buyer is unlikely going to purchase a Ferrari model.
They are different buyers in different markets, not comparable.
Just because they both sell cars doesn't mean their marketing departments are going to target each other in business competition.Last edited: Aug 9, 2016 -
Who is growing what?
Nvidia can ship downscaled GPU's in the lower segments of the GPU market.
But, AMD won't be "growing" GPU's to compete with the 1060, 1070, 1080, at least not in this generation.
And, when AMD produces GPU's that compete with the 1060, 1070, 1080, Nvidia will again release their next generation GPU's, putting AMD back in competition with discontinued Nvidia GPU's. -
He quoted me about ARM cpus growing in popularity... I mean he was right...hmscott likes this.

My feelings exactly
-
So we agree they are different buyers. They are still in the same market though. It gives choice. Maybe not to you or me or someone who wants the bleeding edge but it is a choice.
I wasn't talking about amd or nvidia here. I was merely mentioning that ARM is competition to Intel.hmscott likes this. -
We aren't agreeing
I saw the one word post with "ARM", I didn't get the implication how that affected your other post. You can edit your original post instead of following up with single word posts.
We are talking about GPU's here, not Intel/AMD CPU's.

If you punch in 1060 in the search field on xoticpc it shows the MSI GT62VR Dominator-027 with the 1060 for $1549. You can't actually go to the product page but we can see FHD IPS, i7-6700HQ and 1060 6GB.

Yeah, some of the XoticPC next generation notebook product listings were visible when created, indexed and now searchable, but should have all been pulled down - 404's now.
If you find an XoticPC next generation notebook URL that works, please post it

It's OK, I prefer squirt guns.
My single word post had a quote attached about where Intel's competition was, I merely answered. We then expanded on that slightly with the growing market share. I was posting something about Intel and ARM but wasn't discussing Nvidia / AMD. Sorry about the confusion. I will do better to keep on topic.hmscott likes this. -
I merely want Pascal in a laptop form. We're all excited and everyone has been waiting a long time, so of course there's plenty of emotion to go around.

Exciting days ahead. I can't wait! We are so close, omg.
"M" series announcement coming August 17th-19th at GamesCom.

Wondering how the 1070 stacks against the 1080m...
Awhile back, I heard two stories, one with the "m" variant, the other with no more "m" moniker. If the m is present, it will be very interesting. If not... Meanwhile, it is moot for my machine, as 1070 seems to max it out...

Lol even that was confusing, they called it M series but referred to it as mobile 1070. Also aren't we probably gonna hear about it a little before that from MSI at least? Or will that just be the laptop models and they won't talk about the gpu specs.hmscott likes this.

It's not a reliable source... But we're literally a week or so away, so I think the hate and debate can wait.
Yes, I intended for that to rhyme.Last edited: Aug 9, 2016 -

I thought people would like to know that Eurocom has released something really sweet on their website. See it before it's gone...?

Also, please guys, nothing is truly confirmed until NDA is over so take a step back and cool off.

Lol that P870DM description:
"Virtual Reality deployment will allow companies to create and test new products faster, accelerate training of future highly skilled specialists (i.e. heart surgeons, pilots, mechanics), assist sportsmen with quicker recoveries after major surgeries, increase participation of culture by providing VR based tours of major world art collections, architecture, theater and symphonic concerts to name a few."hmscott likes this. -
I'll be fairly disappointed if there are no 13"-15" laptops with 120Hz display options.
It's almost 2017, guys. Come on!Prototime likes this. -

Well, 13-15" laptops, by virtue of their diminutive size can only house a 1060 at most, which can do most modern games at 1080p 60 FPS. 120 Hz is overkill; I'd much rather have G-Sync.Prototime likes this. -
The 1060 is definitely powerful enough to enjoy gaming at more than 60 FPS. You don't need max settings.
Yeah, G-SYNC would be expected, too. -
I would argue that the P750DMx will have the 1070. It's got the same cooling as the 770DMx... Now, it won't have the 775DM heatsink, so now way above that. 13" I agree...

I missed the context and can't see signatures on tapatalk...
Knowing that is what he's on, unless they do something special with vapor chambers on the 6x series, you're definitely right...

At any rate, I can't find any 1080p high-refresh-rate panels within that size range on Panelook. There are 1366*768 panels, but I doubt anyone here wants them.
So... no, we won't be seeing 120 Hz on small screens for a while more, at least. -
I love how you guys just assume what I am talking about, lol.
-
The OLED panel in the AW13 has something like a 1ms response time, but does anyone know what it's refresh rate actually is? I can't seem to find that info.
-
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Response time ≠ 1/refresh rate, just saying.
What are that panel's exact specs? Resolution, IPS or not, etc.? -
Correct, it is not equal to 1/, which is precisely why I ask the question
I honestly have no idea about the panel details, seems hard to find.
-
Well what are you thinking for a system?

Damn if the price is 1549 we should add another 200 for the 17inch laptop also 25% VAT for us in europe a laptop with 1060 will cost us something between 2200-2300USD, I better start looking at 980M when they are on sell i guess.hmscott likes this.

For 15", the only one I'd consider purchasing is the Clevo P751DM. Assuming there will be a new Pascal version soon.
I still want 120Hz regardless. Personally never play at max settings, anyway.ajc9988 likes this. -
They will have a new Pascal version and new heatsink/better fans! So you should have a 1070 as a possibility... I think any 1080 variant would be exclusive to the 775 and 870 models...

Then, FFS, don't give us a range and expect us not to assume, if you already know exactly what you want. As far as I know, 13/14-inch notebooks are a fair distance away from the P7/P8 series of notebooks, both physically and in terms of price.
Lumping a W230SS/P640RE together with a P750DM is just illogical. -
God I hope not. If the P650RG successor can only hold a 1060 when it could hold a 980m before I'll be so disappointed. The GT63VR leak had a 1070 in it and the GT60 always had the same gpu as the P650RG. I hope that remains true.hmscott likes this.

Hi guys, in the last years I always bought Clevo laptops for my coworkers (the two in my sig are only the mine ones) but honestly in these last two years I haven't seen anymore a real beast like the P570wm was (eg. its beastly xeon CPUs) and this is a very pity because in my job this feature is very important. In the P870DM2/3 I see an upgrade on the gpu side (ok), but a workstation with only an i7-6700k as CPU imo is very insufficient for the workflow

The displays offered are going to vary from reseller to reseller. I would never settle for a 60hz display again, though.
I'm more surprised about the 2x LAN ports. It seems cool, but why? What's the special benefit of having two LAN ports, other than for the sake of feeding a wired internet connection to a second PC? -
You're shopping in gaming PC's, not workstations. It's about as good as it gets.
-
Yeah definitely would be nice to see another x99 based laptop.
Current desktop replacements still dont have the CPU power of HEDT nor the GPU power of the big die chips. Its still not true "desktop replacement".salvafxr likes this. -
I was just pointing out that he's shopping in the wrong section, like shopping in the women's section looking for men's underwear.
