What do we need to do to stop this madness?![]()
All these things about "GTX 1080m" are just re-posts of Chiphell's re-post of Mr. Najsman's post in this very thread (it was removed, but people do remember, I still have original screenshots, full-sized and without watermarks).
![]()
He strategically blanked out the name of the GPU, and there was briefly up a page at Swedish shop which had a photo of MSI GT72VR with label "GTX 1080M", so everybody just jumped to conclusion it was GTX 1080M (at that time the real info was rare, we have been all just guessing, even me thought that was more plausible).
But meanwhile there was tons of new evidence, pretty much nailing Mr.Najsman's GPU as GTX 1070.
-
I reported your post. You are sharing false information that has been proven wrong, referring to your last *2 MONTHS OLD* link with the "1080M" which has "2048" cuda cores, I mean come on, if you were NOT trolling you would realise that is the mobile 1070 after all we read in the past few weeks.hmscott likes this.
-
-
Assuming you are not trolling, maybe you just have seen old info?
Those GPUs may have been called with M suffix at some point in the time. But what's launching in one week is like 99% sure named just GTX 1060 / 1070 / 1080.
Remember that AMD had their mobile Polaris GPUs named completely differently on their official slides. -
There is no harm waiting one week till the nomenclature of Pascal will be announced officially.
Tbh does it really matter if it is called mobile 1070 or 1080m?
Either way, in one week we will know for sure and then all this debating about it is obsolete. -
You are right. The only important stuff are performance and price.
Who cares about nomenclature? Because I don't.hmscott and CaerCadarn like this. -
Sure there is no harm, yet it is wasting people's time who follow this thread to read actual news that are not already outdated.
Also, I don't care what the cards are called, but what I care about is that he keeps posting *old* links, don't get me wrong on that.hmscott likes this. -
All of these device ID's are found and you believe there will ONLY be three GPU's?
I've seen the actual announcement pages. There is more, far more to come... Only after all this "desktop" mobile GPU hype dies down.
Yes, there are three of those "desktop/hybrid/mobile" GPU's but NOT only three mobile GPU's. -

These are timed to be clear once NDA is over.

What's the point of all this man?
To show you have "inside" information and are "right"?
If you really had inside information, then you should shut-up and let the NDA play out and disclose as planned and scheduled.
Then when the NDA expires, and the marketing copy publishes, you can point waaaay back to when you said it the first *and* only time.
More than enough to prove you are "right".
Everything past that is pushing the limits of your promise of silence having been shown the marketing work ahead of time, and proving to be tedious here, enough so to start getting your posts Reported.
We don't see anyone else supporting your story, so I guess everyone else knows how to shut-up.Last edited: Aug 10, 2016 -

Wow. That was really uncalled for. This thread is full for all kind of posts from alien abduction to Illuminati conspiracy theory and you think @J.Dre is trolling. SMH.
He is not trolling, he is defiantly convinced of the "M" series and trying to convince others in this forum, may it be from older leaks. And nothing is proven wrong until the laptops with pascal GPUs are officially released.jaybee83, Shadow God and hmscott like this. -
It's not about being "right." I created this thread to share information because I knew that I may have the opportunity to share unique information with people. You (and many others), despite intention, have done nothing but spit accusations at me of spreading false or misinformation without even a second thought as to what it may mean.
If anything, I should be disappointed or offended. Not the other way around. It's disrespectful, to say the least. And yeah, I am aware things change and what I'm reporting is not going be entirely accurate. But the viewers of this thread only see one side of the coin, so to speak. My only intention is to clear things up.Last edited: Aug 10, 2016VoodooChild likes this. -

As I said, I could not care less about the naming, I am triggered because he keeps posting old links that contain information which is already long obsolete, wasting everyone's time. Please don't hang this up on the naming. I just said the website he posted assumed there was a 1080M because the card had 2048 cuda cores instead of 2560 of the Desktop 1080, when it is already clear that was in fact the mobile 1070. It just shows how old and outdated the content is. 634 pages in I don't want to read links from June. Hope I explained myself enough.Ionising_Radiation and hmscott like this.

MSI has been very persistent when it comes to their 17" laptops. It's safe to say that it will have a 1070, too.
-
I didn't say it was false, I'm not going to waste time arguing something that can't be proven. I am happy to wait to learn the naming, and the follow on models - and their naming.
I am saying that you back up the rumors with claims you are a marketing person that has seen the marketing materials to be used for release, and that is a stupid thing to do.
I feel bad for you, hurting your career over such a silly thing.
I hope you will come to your senses and stop posting this same unprovable 'm' naming over and over and over.
In case you haven't noticed, noone wants to see it reposted over and over.

Of course there will be more than 3 notebook Pascal GPUs. Nobody's arguing that
All we are speaking about is what will happen right now - August 15-19. There will be only 3 GPUs launched, with a big fanfare - "desktop GPUs" for notebooks.
Beyond that it's all just wild guessing. There should be at least 4 low-end and mid-tier notebook Pascal GPUs later on this year (successors of 940m/950m/960m/965m).
Plus Quadro variant for basically each of GeForce GPU. So that would make for at least 14 GPUs, just for notebooks, even without invoking any mysterious M variants. -
-
Wild, that's enough attention from me.
Thanks for creating the thread.

Thanks for posting those links, I like how they get around listing the specific Pascal GPU

Nice catch. $2000 for a configured 1070 laptop. Not bad at all.

Well, let's wait, that configurations are not confirmed at all, but at least they starting to talk about new gpus...

Apparently Clevo's m1060 is also come with extra 8pin power supply.....So.....

Agree, this was slightly higher than I expected. The cheapest GT72 with 970M on xotic is 1399 though, $100 cheaper than the GS40. My point being that despite the smaller size and undoubtedly lower costs, the small MSIs have never really been cheaper than their bigger brethren with the same CPU/GPU. In addition, there could be a premium simply due to novelty and pre-order, i.e. Founders Edition-type milking.Prototime likes this.

Thanks for these prices – it’s useful to see how much these things cost in the EU. I’m hoping to stumble across some EU prices for some of the higher-end models.

Yup, very similar to that Bulgarian site that surfaced weeks (if not a month) ago, which promises delivery on or after the 20th of Aug. For reference so you don't have to go digging:

Even more interesting: Title says 17.3", yet the Display is specified as: 14" Full HD Non Reflection 1920x1080

is their going to be a 1065

I'm sure it's just a typo, that seems the most likely reason.

Here is another notebook from Amazon - Asus GL502VS.
This one is quite surprising (GTX 1070 in 15" thin chassis and just $1,699.00?).
Though VS suffix matches other Asus model with GTX 1070 (GT752VS), and they have image with GTX 1070 burned in, so less chance for just a typo).

Yeah, the price is a big surprise. However, I'm not surprised by the 502s having the 1070, I haven't seen any real hard data on why and how Pascal is so much hotter than Maxwell and since the thicker version of the 502 already had a 980M, I fully expected them to have the 1070 too
-
Ah, they always get me fooled with those marketing photos
In reality Asus GL502 chassis isn't that thin at all
