I know that none of these work with BGA, but will there ever be a BGA Prema bios? Would love to use these.

if the newer drivers work with the current BGA modded vbios then you don't need it.

@Prema Thank you very much for the time you have put into helping us all love these gpus! I do have a question though if you could spare a minute to read it!
Is there any chance we can get a lower voltage version of this vbios, or the ability to undervolt through the slider in nvidia inspector? I am having the same issue as thegh0sts. I am running AW17R1 with 8gb clevo 980m and 120hz display. All the same as thegh0sts. He is running modded fans that run at 100% usually, where as I am running the stock fan profiles. Unfortunately the stock fan profile doesn't kick the fan into full speed until 85*C. So even with the 1.1.1 vbios I am noticing temps in the 80*C range quite regularly. I Don't plan to do any major overclocking and My ASIC quality is 81%. I was just hoping to make the system run a lot cooler. At the moment I have to leave Nvidia inspector running in the background with the Temp priority at 88*c just to be safe and I'd rather have lower temps and lower voltage vs power user tweaking. Most 980m's ive seen running stock vbios seem to operate load voltage between 1.01v and 1.05v, but the 1.1.1 vbios is set to 1.062v. Ideally now that you have unlocked the voltage slider to add voltage it would be fantastic if we could start off at a lower base voltage.
The only reason Im asking you is the stock vbios that my card came with caused crazy throttling constantly (it was a 1.062v one as well). your vbios fixed this but now I am having a different, smaller set of quirks.
Thank you! -
the vbios does not determine the voltage, it's the ASIC quality that determines what the voltage the GPU uses.

I did the vBIOS flash and got my new system rebuilt this weekend. Works absolutely flawlessly with the 361.75 drivers and no issue with the GPU being detected as a removable device in Windows as has been reported.

The vbios works on the M15x with no issues. Clevo 980M.
Boy this is one hot little GPU though! -
yeah it sure is.
glad to know your M15x is running again...

Using the clevo version v2 mods atm with 361.75 in my M18xR2 with dual 980m. Fans work as normal. Most games running full throttle fine except FFXIV. Had to disable HBAO+ but that seems to have fixed it. If it throttles in one of the few areas that can cause it like the Start of Pharos Sirius capping the FPS @60 completely stops it. Using windows 10 as well and its mostly working normal except one time it decided to burp. Got 1 blue screen on cold boot and an odd memory exception the 2nd time. 3rd time it booted normally so dunno if its the graphics driver that time or one of the other drivers like OSD that caused that.
-
oh i see that the latest drivers show my 980M as ejectable....errr....
-
Theres a hotfix out for that but its also removable by editing the registry. Its a glitch cos they added USB 3.1 support or something for new GPU.s
-
can't install without the modded drivers.

The asic quality determined the voltage with the stock vbios yes but with the prema vbios it overrides this detection and just runs everyone at 1.06v This is why I want to try undervolting slightly. Prema stated this is the details of the vbios:

Thegh0sts, I forgot are you using a AW18? I no longer need to mod the Nvida drivers after I updated to bios A12. I was really bummed about that.
Never mind, my phone wasn't showing full posts couldn't see what you had. -
Just ask him. Some of us who had thermal problems kicked some cash his way and got undervolted versions. Each one has to be made individually because of how Maxwell handles voltage. That high ASIC isn't helping your thermals any.
-
I updated my vbios yesterday and everything was smooth. I have to try now with newer drivers to see what's up.
-
Unless the AW18 BIOS works with my AW17 R1 then I need modded drivers.

I have been trying to get a hold of him. It wont let me create a conversation with them for some reason and I have posted with the user name in the post both here and on TI and I havent heard back yet...
Also why would higher asic be worse for thermals? -

I have an ASIC of 77.6% at 1.06V it runs pretty hot. In fact M15x standard heatsink cannot cool when it is running at full speed. Liquid Ultra probably can but still.
Previous vbios (svl7 and johnkss) ran 1206mhz at 1V exactly and was dead stable and cooler. Prema can make an individual vbios you say? -
Higher ASIC chips have a lower voltage requirement per clock but have higher electron migration through leakage and thus run hotter. They make great desktop chips and tend to be amazing overclockers but that comes at a price.
As for @Prema, he's a very busy man. Just wait for him to get back to you. He has a life outside of making mods
Also don't expect miracles. Maxwell doesn't tend to undervolt very well. My cards are running at 975mv and still hit 80s with max fans. Leakage doesn't really go down unfortunately. -
How are you able to undervolt? My nvidiainspector slider bounces back to 0 every time I try to undervolt
-
King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
That is exactly it. Prema made a vbios for Ethrem allowing it to run at 975mv.
Sent from my SM-A500FU using Tapatalk -
Exactly this. Keep in mind it's not perfect. Maxwell doesn't like undervolting and I have some profiles for games that will crash under 1v despite being far less demanding than maxed out Heaven which I can run for hours without a problem.

M15x doesnt seem to care which vbios i run. I will simply flash back to old 1v 1200mhz vbios as new drivers work with it anyway.
So glad I have an old school machine

I hate that mod... It never worked right on my machine. I have a Clevo though and that's a Dell base.
-

Running a clevo card though
Sent from my SM-A500FU using Tapatalk -
That doesn't really matter. Dell vbios = works better on Dell machines..
-
I installed the latest nvidia drivers and it somehow... crashed my machine? It rebooted and everything seems to be working fine. So far, gaming with newest drivers and vbios seems OK. I will continue testing to see how it goes.
-
All of the 361 drivers have been a bit buggy. NVidia needs to get it together.

Sent him multiple messages and shout outs over the last few days.. He's either swamped or travelling.. Another person here who would love a 0.95V 970M vBIOS mod..Ethrem likes this.
-
Yeah I haven't heard from him either, he's probably just swamped. I wouldn't blame him for taking a break for awhile - I bet he got inundated with messages when nvidia pushed 361.75 since it was a Game Ready driver.

He's really busy lately. I asked for a 0.9v 970m and 0.9v 980m vBIOS mod from him but he said he's too busy right now.
I certainly got miracles, it's just your laptop is cursed, that's all. Maxwell is great. -
the 361.82 HF just boots to a black screen....hmmm...only closing and opening the lid makes it work.
reverted back to 361.75 and it works. so i don't know if i screwed up the inf mod or if there's a kink again with the driver and vbios?Last edited: Feb 4, 2016 -
i wonder if we can get a copy of the stock version of the new vbios?
-
No problems with 361.85 in our testing on various Clevo's...except that 361 driver are bad OCer/performer in general...
You may wanna re-do your .inf mod.
All on my website under the stock section. -
i tried fixing the inf mod but it still broke so i am thinking it's a broken driver cos the prev driver is fine.
-
@Prema, can you please make a UV version of 970M vBIOS for me? Pretty please, 0.95V
-
I am in no way affiliated with Prema, but he is awesome.
Just wanted to say.. money (paypal) talks
(I think)
-
I don't mind giving him some money but I do need to have something first lol.. I think he is a bit inundated tbh so there's a delay in his reply...
-
I am just tired of hearing empty talk and have to deal with some serious real world problems...
I don't expect anything in return, but so many are making promises which they never keep once they get what they want. That's even worse than being part of the 70.000 (that's right seventy-thousand) hit'n'runners which used my Mods for free only in 2015...

nope, i absolutely love it....i'm just ramping down my work so i can ramp up my departure prep. gotta get my tax done, close a bank account and phone at month's end.
EDIT: bought a tablet to watch movies and tv shows on cos the in-flight stuff is low quality, low range, and with subs i don't need

I just donated. Figured it was worth it since I can now use current NVIDIA drivers with my modded 980M.

361.82 works fine for me on my laptop, have yet to try it on my Desktop but I imagine it would work just fine there as well.
Then there's people like me, who are incredibly generous and want to help out modders financially and donate quite a lot!

Exactly. Even if half those 70k "hit n runners" donated a few bucks each... I love the beauty of freeware/shareware because you can set your own price. Problem is that people set the price as free 99.9% of the time. You hate to see a mandatory cost on stuff like this but for Prema to continue, it may be required eventually. Same thing happened with UncleWebb and his ThrottleStop program. Thank goodness that he also keeps trudging forward...
You can only do so much for nothing. After a while some compensation is needed, because as we know time is valuable.D2 Ultima, Solo wing, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
Hum, modded inf from laptop2go doesn't work for me. So sad.
If anyone has a modded inf that works wich doesn't come from laptop2go, i would gladdly appreciate !
Prema has released v2 of his 980M and 970M mods - GSYNC or no GSYNC - fix for 361+ and new base
