Ray tracing another BS

Skip the overpriced RTX / 1660xx GPU's, and get a get a nice new / used 1070, 1070ti, 1080, 1080ti, RX 570, RX 580, RX 590, RX Vega 56 / 64, AMD Radeon Vega VII - faster for less.

Nvidia's RTX GPUs are a scam.

166- Nvidia is pulling a fast one between pricing and ray tracing which is a waste of time and your money. The RTX 2060, RTX 2070, RTX 2080 are all a scam. Hackintosh fans- it took a year before the 1000 series drivers were made available. Now, even the GTX line cannot be used on Mojave. This does not bode well for the RTX line ever coming to future Mac OSs.

My 2070 is head to head with 1080 OC. 1080 costs around 700-800, I got the 2070 for $450. I'm OK with that.

OK is relative considering 2070 is $499 when 1070 I believe was $349 card? But look at Intel. $450 for a 8 core 14nm, refresh from a 4 year old architecture?

Yeah I know NVidia may be scamming us all. I just hope the RTX 2070 will plow through next gen PS5 console ports.

 

Played again Shadow of the Tomb Raider, this time Ray Tracing enabled... I see no big visual differences TBH.

 

At least RTX GPU usage is at its peak for DLSS computation.

I'm tired of kids stating an i3 demolishes 2600X Haha... If it was 2005 I'd believe it. Intel single core performance is/was best. Switch it to Multi-core performance it simply outpaces locked i5/i7 with unlocked multipliers and performance/$

 

Do you mean the time I spent playing with RTX enabled is good for DLSS optimisation? Because I always play with DLSS disabled, it sucks in all the games I tested it.

 

DLSS perform better when you run it many more times to get Deep Learning's exact RT and Image optimisation brings to the table. But, there's a downside disk space will have a small reduction because older results may have been stored as cached to improve in-game visuals based on older feedback results. Its just a theory because I don't have SOTR and RTX GPU with me.

 

No, that's not how that works.

Nvidia does the game runs to generate DLSS ruleset's for games. Nvidia provides driver updates to support DLSS ruleset's for new games - and presumeably offer updated ruleset's as new game updates are released.

Nvidia does the multiple runs of games on their DGX AI appliances, and all you can do as an RTX owner is to turn DLSS on or OFF.

 

Oh thanks for the clarification. I didn't know nvidia tests their rulesets themselves, I thought it was done on the end user RTX hardware in real time. I hope they perfect DLSS in driver updates.
