Pity Forza is only Xbox 360 exclusive. That probably would have fit the bill pretty good.

I was playing Tropico 3 today and I really liked the gameplay of it. Are there any games out there that are like Tropico but you can also attack other countries like an rts?

Never played Tropico but you may want to look at the new game called R.U.S.E.

Pretty neat game, I like the idea of RUSE to deceive the enemy. Its a new twist on strategy.

Its also made to work well with touch scree monitors and works on triple monitor setups like I have at home.

I only have two monitors set up right now(including my laptop's monitor). Setup works well though. I like being able to play games on one while browsing the internet on the other during loading screens

It's a much older game but the Impressions game Emperor was a city management game that allowed you to send troops to attack enemy cities, it's probably the only game of the studio that allowed multiplayer.

Speaking of old games I just got a partial memory of this one game where you go from castle to castle in a turn based game and you can create your own custom units and stuff and have to allocate them in a good manner for mobility and attack power. Then you have to decide to leave people behind to defend that base or take most of them with you for fighting power.

I think that game was up to 8 players and had online support. Its so old I doubt it even runs on Vista/Win 7 or 64bit based systems.

I just want to remember the name of the game now. I have the disk somewhere but think I threw it away because it got all scratched up.

I know it was on like page 6 or 9, but I created this Official thread to post questions just like this, so I don't blame you for not seeing it.

But I did work very hard on it, and would appreciate it if you could use this instead of making a whole thread about it.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=470596

And yes, it is under the general gaming info sticky.

I don't think anybody has recommended HAWX yet? For what it's worth, its a pretty fun fighter pilot game, albeit lacking in realism (but really, its fun).

Freelancer is an older space combat sim, but the story mode is a lot of fun and there's plenty of stuff to explore. Good for a rainy day.

If you liked Wing Commander: Privateer (and what 90s-era gamer did not?!), Freelancer is its spiritual successor. Scale is horribly wonky, but it's a great game and it's loads of fun.

Let's not talk about the actual sequel. *shudders*

Other good space sims are Freespace 2 and the X series.

(Yes, I realize all these games are 6+ years old, if not older, but the space sim genre is pretty much dead these days... old games are all we got!)

Freelancer has loads of mods which enhance the game and make it look and feel more "current date". Shattered Worlds is a great Freelancer mod which will soon have capital ships (or already has, haven't played for a few months).

Crysis, far cry 2, Arma II for FPS games. Dawn of War I/II I heard are good rts games.

    Ha, well Thank You.

But there is a LOT of games I left out, due to the fact that it would take me roughly weeks to add every game to it.

This thread is mainly for people to browse the first page, and see if there is any games that they would like to play.

But if there isn't a game on the list that catches your eye, then you simply post a question about some other games of that genre that you are looking for, and hopefully someone can give you a quick response.

I was reading through all of the great games and I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw "Runescape" pop up after all of these great titles. Very Good list by the way. I can vouch for the awesomeness of the majority of these games on your list =)

BTW...Anyone recommend "Torchlight" yet? It's a really good game with low system requirements. Hack and Slash like Diablo, but prettier =)

Could you get a little more in-depth with you MW2 feedback? You say it has a lot of controversy and that it's a game "you'd love to hate," but that's about it.

I love MW1 multiplayer but haven't tried MW2 yet. What should I know about it besides the dedicated server issue?

Well it's different for everyone, but for me, it's a broken game, with a terrible community of games (not all of them ofcourse).

Commando is ridiculous (you can lunge from like 20 feet away with a knife).

Painkiller only rewards terrible players (it doubles your health for 10 seconds if you die 4 times in a row).

One-Man Army and Noobtubes is ridiculous (they stand in the back of their spawn, shooting grenade launchers at the enemy spawn, then with one-man army, they switch back to the same class to re-fill their ammo.

Matchmaking is horrible as well as host migration (doesn't work half the time).

Infinity Ward barely even supports the game (there are numerous bugs in the game, like 10th prestige glitched lobbies, care-package glitching [This was fixed nearly 2 WEEKS LATER], and there are other glitches too), and with all of these, IW has barely even attempted to fix them.

They charge WAY to much for map packs (roughly $15), and have the audacity to call it a "Stimulus Map Pack".

The kill streaks are extremely overpowered.

I could go on all day.

But for some reason, you keep going back to the game. You get upset, throw something, maybe even not play for a few days, but you always come back to it.

Has anyone ever played Necrovision, by Aspyr games? It's quite cheap on Amazon. I've only begun to get into it, and one doesn't need a powerful computer to play it. It's got DirectX 9/10 modes. I always wondered why there weren't more World War 1 shooters, as opposed to games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc. It reminded me of Clive Barker's Undying! Loads of fun if you like the war FPS/survival horror type genres.

In exchange for the just cause 2 recommendation, I'll toss one out: Galactic Civilizations 2 (turn based strategy game). They keep the game up to date with patches even though it's a few years old and it's pretty damn fun.

You're lucky you haven't gone up against some pretty pro bots.

I remember a game (on Advanced), and something happened involving a boomer, a witch, a spitter, and a smoker. It was not pretty.

Another nod for Unreal Tournament series...

And probably second for me is Battlefield 2...

I don't find the L4D/L4D2 bot AI particularly sophisticated (you can pick 'em off at long range with no real response until you hit the 'trigger' a la Diablo or WoW) but then I suppose brain dead zombies aren't very sophisticated...can't complain about lack of artificial intelligence in zombies...

Played the older UT games briefly when younger, but the AI could be downright vicious to any but the most experienced FPS fanatics.

Well I was planning on ordering a MSI GX640, but my refund didn't come because of some glitch in the Chicago IRS office, so I wont be getting a gaming laptop for another month...*tears*

Anyways I really want to play games, but I have a terribly old PC. Its a stone age desktop BTW =p

    Specs

CPU-3.2 ghz Celeron ( Single Processor, I'm pretty sure )
    RAM - 448mb
GPU - Its terrible, I'll leave it at that

Can some people recommend me some games that can run on my pc? I really don't want any choppiness and I am perfectly fine with playing on the lowest settings. Lol Dues Ex on Lowest detail... still fun

    So far I've played,

Freedom Fighters, Freedom Force 1 and 2, Max Payne 1,2 FATE, Diablo 1 and 2 ( I think Diablo is kind of overrated...) some other crappy ones that arent worth mentioning.
