I like to join but feel like I'm always the high school freshman that crashes the senior party because I suck so bad.

Just curious, how does the placement matches determine your league? By win loss ratio in the placement match ?

 

If Portal 2 is out I know I won't be on SC2. But I doubt it will be, just hype for the next round of their stupid virtual game.

 

For those of you getting Portal 2, it's going to be $35 at Best Buy

 

I got 2 questions:
1. How does the placement matches work? Is it by the win loss ratio?

2. Why is the in-game name only limited to 12 characters? My in-game name is 'Motionpictur'.... that's how far it goes.... thinking of changing my name....

 

1. "During your placement matches we match you against players from a wide variety of players and skill levels and we watch the results; whether you win or lose. From this, we are able to determine your ability and place you in a league that we believe to be appropriate for your level of play."

2. Who knows

 

They try to assess your skill level based on the skill level of the people you beat and those you lose to. You can't see your rating, though. It is hidden.

 

I beat diamonds and lose to silvers lol.

 

Think i'm almost diamond in 2v2.
I need to get on some 1v1. I wonder how rusty I am

 

I am a good place to start since we are pretty well skilled. May help our 2v2 games too if we 1v1.

Im rank 20ish in my random 2v2 in platinum but dont think im close to diamond.

I did mass sentry last night for the first time, guy went mass marine/tank and it was so awesome to own him

 

I think i'm 12 in Platinum now. Think i'm around 50 in 1v1 cause I haven't been playing
i'll be on tomorrow night..

Yea i'm going to cut back on 2v2 for a while and get back to 1v1.

I dont know if I should continue with Random or just settle down on a race

 

same scenario im in, im like 63 in 1v1 with tons of bonus points. I also kinda want a race.

I do so good with protoss or zerg when I use one a few games in a row, using just one would make me a lot better. But I do not play competitive just for fun so thats why I will stick with random.

Its nice when we both spawn as zerg with random in a 2v2

 

Haha. Indeed. I'm pretty equal with all of them. Well my zerg is probably a little weaker compared to T and P, but it's come a long way. I use to be really bad.

Tried some 1v1.... didnt bode so well.

Lost 4 or 5 in a row.

Got out macros and had no clue what to do in a ZvZ, got cheesed to death 2x by a PvP (double gas steal no 4 gate, --> cannon rush --> DT's OMG grrrrrr)

Then got out pressured by a TvP where he must have 4 gated and took out my rax & depot at the front and then I could not catch up, was working on stim push but he broke my stuff just before stim finished.

Finally I just won one.... PvZ the zerg fast expo'ed I took out his expo with a 4 gate, he cleaned me up with tons and tons of lings.

I managed to go for DT but he had detection, so I went stargate and 2 pheonix, 2 voids, and 6 DT's with a few zealots worked really well. Chased off his overseer with the pheonix, then the zealots & DT and voids started to clean house against his mass speedling. I had my bass well covered in cannons to prevent a counter.

I really am off my game or just lost my ability to play 1v1.

After losing like 4 games in a row the 5th game I won with a marine rush.

I used TLO's 6rax rush though so he gets some credit as well.

I played 5 games today, lost 3 won 2.

Thought I would do better. I lost 2 of them to a 4 gate even though I pretty much knew it was comming. Just couldnt hold it off for some reason (zerg). Esp the 2nd time when I had an expo outside my ramp and got forcfielded into my base.

I had to win one game via 7 roach rush, and I kinda consider that cheese. The 2nd game I won I got terran (my worst race I think but my w/l is better) I did the 1 rax fast expo just keeping the 2nd CC in the base for scv production & mule till I scouted the protoss expo.

Got 1/1 upgrades, stim, combat shield, shells. Scouted colosus tech. Got double starport reactor and moved in with like 10 vikings and a stim push and just mowed him down like nothing. Felt so good

Just got done playing a 7v7 with Force. I didnt do a thing except help defend our base a bit from harrasment.

I was trying to Macro up and by the time I moved out the game was over

 

There is no macro in a 7v7 lol

 

Pfft I didnt want to roll out with 5 guys when the map was so big, I got close to 200/200 before I wanted to move out.

I had 3 bases, colosi, voids, chargelots, blink stalkers, and 3/3/3 upgrades

Considering the game before mine was FFA where they ahd 20k minerals/gas each and was doing mass carriers and stuff I figured I needed to be prepared, I guess team games go way differently.

I was surprised our team coordinated the early attack so well.

 

What? You can do up to 7v7 now? What'd I miss? I'd be up for a 7v7. Monster CPU required I guess?

 

I had no lag at all in the 7v7 on Ultra via my desktop.

Granted it was no 200 supply 14 way battle. Probably custom games like evolves and other mass unit games are more demanding than even a 14 player map.

As for new. Its not exactly new you still are limited to 6 people in a group so same as when I did 4v4 on NBR Game Night and had to invite the last 2 people to the game manually. You just do the same thing for a 14 person map.

It's made tons easier now though since you have chat channels, so you can invite them from the chat and not have to have them on your friends list.

Too bad the turnout for NBR SC2 Game Night is all of 2 or 3 people now so we dont have any more of those 4v4 battles and nowhere close to 7v7.

I may get on tonight late I do not work but worked last night and have had to watch the kids all day since then. So just now getting a chance to turn in. I have no clue when I will wake up.

 

Can someone help train this noob in 2v2 or something? I find no motivation to deal with random people online as practice. :|
