Quick question: If I download SC2 from Blizzard, will it come with all the updates, or will I have to still download all the updates?

 

Im home, just catch me on steam (just installed it) before I go to bed and I will play.

Still does a patch update like normal. It may have some of the patches but I know it does not have the more recent ones.

 

Bah I suck against all early attacks I should practice my zerg droning and army macro timing more

I'm the opposite! I really really don't like playing end game as zerg.

 

Yeah with Zerg you have to keep applying pressure and have good army position when you do engage the opponent's. I find early armor upgrades to be really good too.

 

HOTS info everywhere, mostly the same stuff on every site.

I bet it will be fun, but probably not out for a long time.

One thing that bothers me is Kerigans new look, she was fine as a Ghost originally, and even fine as the Queen of Blades, but now she looks human again and is suddenly like half Jamaican or something :/

SOTIS isn't too bad if you liked DOTA. Still a lot of leavers so its not that fun sometimes. Still waiting for DOTA 2.

 

i'm doing a study abroad for a month in Europe, so I wont be able to play with you guys until july. Just me and the insane computer...

BaconPie was on tonight, and we ended up 2v2 vs one of his IRL friends on ladder.

After that they formed up with us and we got a 4v4 team. We won all 5 of our qualification matches and placed Masters League!

We are on our grub break right now and going to do some more games in a bit.


Also could not help but notice my room has not been a sauna with a bed in it since I did my computer upgrade... It would get so hot in here on SC2 game night sometimes that I would have to open the window and crank the fan on and still be in sweat. Now its not even uncomfortable. Was it really my cpu making all that heat??? because the GPU is still the same.

Granted I did overvolt and overclock the Q6600 but I am doing so with the 2600k also and with my stress tests I think my temps are actually a bit higher on the cpu with the 2600K when its 100% load, but I guess its a lot harder to 100% a 4.6ghz i7 so during gaming its not being stressed.

 

Just want to make it clear that we beat my IRL friend in the 2v2 before we joined up with them for 4v4 . Lots of fun 3v3's and 4v4's tonight good stuff Vicious.

My internet dropped for like half a second and it DCed me. The funny thing is I was still in game, I could type inside of the "player lag" box. I saw people typing stuff like "Select DSL Hack" joking around. My own name was listed there but I was actually there. It was like being a ghost.

I wonder if we had gotten the win and placed Masters if that didnt happen. Would have been sweet.

Yeah its different I play on both about equally but much prefer my desktop.

 

yeah i tried playing earlier and was going horribly. I kept messing up my hot keys.

 

Dang, I never know what I'm doing on SC. Someone needs to train me.

 

You could always 6 pool your way to gold.

 

Play campaign, it wont teach you the game or any builds or anything but it will at least familiarize you with the games controls and how it plays.

Make sure you learn hotkeys, never click an icon as using hotkeys is going to probably be the most essential building block you need to become a better player later on.

After you have the basics down, try to learn some basic opening builds by reading up on them and then just go play multiplayer. If your not very good you will get placed in a lower bracket with people near your skill level so that you can get better.

 

Also good to keep consistent control groups so you can grow muscle memory for units and buildings. For example if queens are always 4 and hatches are always 5, after several games injecting larva and selecting larva can be done quickly. Or if you need to select your base to scan/chronoboost, it's always much faster if you know what key to hit rather, rather than having to search for your base.

I will be gone this weekend all weekend for Metrocon. Cant play SC2 game night

 

I'll be getting a new laptop soon that can actually handle SC2. I play SC2 decently and will update this post with my soon-to-be IGN.

 

I played BW, but never got good. I was below average lolz. But for the most part I knew the hotkeys, and was good at ZC and FMP. Don't really know the hotkeys for SC2 yet though.

Just reinstalled Starcraft 2 and holy cow, tons of updates. Takes longer to update Starcraft 2 than a fresh install of Windows!

 

Heh, yay we got our marine master back.

Been seeing a lot of pro players go mass marine and doing well just need to learn to supplement with tanks or dropships & do drops.
