Funday Monday Friday was fun~
-
Indeed it is
Though I think I ruined the second game
Sorry D: -
You'll never post again
(post count).
A friend and I barely eeked out a 2v2 win, and it was only because:
Opponent zerg never teched beyond lings.
Opponent protoss never, ever, ever, saturated his main, and only got one expansion, which we constantly denied. At the end of the game (25min), he still had all 8 mineral patches at his main
Easily put: this game was highlighted by it's extreme incompetence, on both sides (more so on me
).
Across several of the games I played today:
I've gone against 3 protoss who seem very committed to all stalkers. I means 4gate+ all stalkers
It wouldn't be bad, if I didn't always believe they were really commiting to mass stalker (I was always anticipating a robo tech switch, since they got expansion around 8min in).
I didn't win those games, despite having 2-4 rax pumping maurauders near the end. I kept on making vikings, because I expected coloussi...
And harrass is near impossible with mass blink stalkers defending lol...
Anyhow, that has been my day in SC2.

Just don't ruin it next time! j/k

Woohoo finally done uploading
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4SXktKdoWJw?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4SXktKdoWJw?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='640' height="385"></embed></object>
That's the first game though
Had to split it to 2 parts. Oh, it's at my point of view ._.

How did I do on this match? I almost lost.

why are we uploading recodings to youtube when its so much better to just give a replay file....
-
That is so true. But you don't have to have the hassle of downloading, opening, and then deleting.

If you are going to narrate or "cast" your game then record it so you can be in control of the point of focus.
If you just want somebody to see your game a replay file is much faster, smaller, and easier. -
Oh! You have to teach me how to compress to h.264! I don't have that codec.
What's "cast"? -
I thought K-lite has it
It appeared for mine in virtualdub
-
I couldn't find it. What is it named as?
-
x264vfw - H264/MPEG-4 AVC Codec
._. -
Yeah, I don't have that codec. Weird... :[
-
Well i got the full mega k-lite codec pack
Might have some extras in there
-
How did the funday monday match go?
Sorry had to get to work early that day. Will try to go online again this Friday =) -
First game was good, second game I ruined it with tons of zerglings, third game was good
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Yeah cheater
I dont know if we had even one single balanced game out of all of them.
One game somebody went stalkers so that ruined it, You went zergling one game, Easy got Thors one game.
It came down to T1 units owning because they got out fast, or some T2 owning because they were hard counters to the units everybody else used. Like the thor game, I was pheonix... what can I do lol? And I think we had hellions and vikings as our other 2 units, so we were just screwed.
But you know what, even though it sucked that nobody really picked the right units for a even and balanced game I had fun anyways, and that was the point. Mass phenoix is fun
lift workers and shoot em' down
Just to bad I cant get like 2 phoenix to work together to lift a thor :/ -
You had helions and ghosts that game
I was the Viking
I do agree how multiple phoenixes should be able to carry a massive unit. Perhaps scale so that each phoenix can lift up a 125hp worth of unit so 4 phoenixes using the skill can lift up a thor
Anyways, what's the plan this week? :3 -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Probably normal games, unless there is another good monday challenge we want to try that works for our multiplayer environment.
I just got thinking the best way to make sure we had a balanced game on that "only one unit" challenge would have been for us all ot use the same unit
Then it would come down to micro/macro a lot more and may be pretty interesting.
Go for econ and a larger army or go fast army and try to get the early kill? that kind of thing. Would have to be a ground unit or an air unit that can hit both ground and air.
Would be kinda crazy though if we went say banshee, since we could not kill each others units we would be forced to go with missile turrets to survive, then you would have to choose between spending money on turrets for defense or on banshee for attack
That actually may be a pretty interesting game. -
Perhaps choosing 2 units. One which can only attack air and one which can only attack ground
That way you'll be forced to decide how much of your resources to spend on which unit. If you have too much of the one that can only attack ground, your air superiority will suffer
If you have too much that can only attack air, they'll consume too much supply and make your ground forces suffer
-
I was planning to go mass infestor =(
Too bad wasn't able to see how that would play out haha -
Mass infestors would probably work well
spawn tons of infested terrans. Each capable of spawning up to 8 infested terrans at full energy which is almost equivalent of 8 marines. You get bigger army for a smaller supply cost and they're reusable energy
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I tried mass infestor one game, didnt work. That was the game enemy team with like double mass stalker and something else, so they just ate my infestors alive if they were in the open, would just walk away from infested marines, and fungal growth didnt do much dmg since they had shields.
The bad part was they easily had 15 stalkers by the time my first infestors were spawning. -
Hmm you're right Vicious. Early game would be terrible. But can you go mass queens to help out at the start?
-
Yeah, that was the game I actually had the highest score, though admittedly only because I had a sizable army of stalkers just rampaging through everyone's base. Next time I'll go Collosus... or DTs
My favorite unit. Granted, one scan and they're reduced to overpowered Zealots but until then...
-
Well queens were supposed to be only allowed for larva and creep tumor spawning
-
I like the idea of massing only air units (that attack air units) and see who has better micro/macro skills? With missile turrets, if you want.
Seems like a lot of microing to do!
-
Hmmm..... viking mass 1shotting
phoenix shoot and scoot
corruptor mass corrupt (though, IMO, weakest air-->air of all three) -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
corrupter is good vs larger targets like battlecrusers, but viking is probably the best overall imo since they are easy to make, fast, good range, and can also attack ground by landing. -
True
Don't try 4starport w/reactor vikings vs 3fac thors, though
I tried harrassing all I could, but eventually, an endgame army of some 12 thors stopped that really quickly
(that, and I ran out of resources,
. I probably should of went mass marauder, or something, once he started pumping thors. Maybe mass banshee, since they neglected to get vikings...).
Again, bronze level play. I don't think we even scouted each other's bases,
Both of us had some insane MissleTurret setups near the end, too (no on his only mining base, though... that just had thors and a single orbitalcommand scanning) -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I have lost a few games to thors of the late, they are really powerfull in mass or with the right units backing them.
I swear they attack my buildings 2x faster when people are using them against me. Mine shoot slow, the enemy shoots like rapid fire. A single thor has dropped my buildings by itself in just seconds. -
I know thors have that cannon upgrade, but I've never seen it used in game
Probably because of that animation sequence it goes through.
then again, I normally see 0 thors, or 10+ thors and either way it's game over for me...
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
They are using the regular attack I think because I have used the AOE thor attack in single player.
I also have special looking thors since I have a collectors edition
-
Oh, nice!
I think the multiplayer attack is a targeted spell? I dunno, I never got a game to the point where I could build thors,
-
Yeah the multiplayer Thor's cannon is a target spell and not an AoE

Hellions = not good against mech.

I thought they worked out okay ... but then, I was on the double mass stalker side.
-
lol yeah I was confused at first when I ordered my stalkers to move and some of the stalkers on screen didn't.
I think I rather like that game mode just for the fun. I need to remember to build a detector though... I saw Vicious' infestors burrow before I could get them all and only then realized I had no way to see them. Then squads of infested marines started popping out everywhere and I ran.
Next time if I play Collossus/Immortals I shouldn't forget to build a detector, but if I build DTs I'll be more worried about encountering them. -

For this weeks NBR game night. I think if we can we should try the Infernals map again, that was a fun map IMO.
Also maybe mix it up with some none game custom games.
I tried a few today and played one called sentry scramble or something and it was pretty fun. Kinda like pacman meets online multiplayer except other players are trying to kill you
Something like that only takes a few minutes and can be good filler to relax after tensing games and give the players not so great at normal SC2 games a chance to win in some other random stuff. -
Oh i forgot about sentry scramble
I saw Husky commentate that one and never found it in SEA servers D:
Lets do it >:3 -
like... all sentries!?
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Husky did a commentary on it? wow lol didnt see it. I just found it randomly today as it was on the first page of most popular games.
edit: watching that cast now. it looks like a much older version of the game, map looks better now and after you die as a sentry you spawn as a ghost to kill other players until all sentry are dead.
as a ghost you cant shoot, instead you can emp forcefields and create new fireballs. -
Yeah it was back in the beta
It never had the ghost before
-
People will use any excuse when they lose... at least I admit I suck!
-
I've been playing just Protoss lately.
Having a lot more fun playing them than Terran. Not sure why.
Sentry, Stalkers, and High Templers are amazing to play with. -
Same here. Moved from Terrans to Protoss and have been having quite a bit of fun. I usually go for a mix of Zealots, Sentries, Stalkers, Immortals and Colossi. Forcefields are great for when I don't have enough units on the front lines to keep the opposing army from attacking my Colossi in the back. They should work just as well for High Templars!
