Exactly.....I don't know if anyone here remembers when Starcraft first came out. Basically, if you picked Zerg and didn't know what to do, just go 4 pool and you'll have very decent odds of winning.

Spawning Pool cost 150 minerals back then (compared to 300 now)

does anyone play sc now? Its still pretty popular now. Im pretty sad foreign bw will most likely die when sc2 comes out. :(
Im AoN.DimSum on iccup if you guys want to play ^^

sc:bw is probably the greatest rts game ever. There are so many new things to learn each day, and I have been playing since 2001 or 2002 (cant remember)

Ahhh the memories, recently started playing again on UMS's of course (ever since I got uber PWN'D on my3rd match in a row... Dragoon rushes just don't work anymore)... If you search around there is a gametype called desert strike, It's completly different from games I've played in ther past, you build buildings that autospawn units (but you dont control em), Just go on battlenet and play a single game of it, You won't regret it!!

lol...no! you will never be able to play it again!

coming to a close, as in everyone will be playing sc2 when its released.

Sure you can still play sc, but after 10+ years Im sure everyone will be ready for something new. Although, like many say, you do learn something new in sc eevryday. ;x

There actually is a way to run SC in window mode. First you must download chaoslauncher found at http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=65196. Put the files in Program Files/chaoslauncher and run chaoslauncher.exe. Make sure W-mode (which is the window mode plugin) is checked and hit Start, and the game will run in Window Mode.

if you're wondering, most people use chaoslauncher for the latencychanger plugin, which allows you to play on battle.net with very low latency (like you're playing on a LAN), as opposed to the standard latency of battle.net (where you get this really horrible delay when issuing commands). Even pro-gamers use it when they play on battle.net

I love watching VODS of Korean Pro Gamers and Korean commentating. It's hilarious and they're so good.

Spawning Pool was never 300 min. It's 200 now and even if Zerg 9pools, that's still really fast.

I love Broodwar and I can't wait for SC2 to come out although I doubt my netbook can run it. I guess I'll have to wait until I get a better notebook. :)

Well...bunker rush in modern competetive starcraft doesn't work too well. Even though most Zergs go 12 hatch in ZvTs, all they have to do is pull drones quickly enough and they'll stop the bunker going up. Its possible if the Zerg player doesn't notices it, but still, its really cheesy since you'll have a horrendous economy if you fail.

That used to give me a heart attack! I was like "where! Where Where is it going to happen!" Ha Ha Ha, that was fun.

I really love that game. I too think that the game had good graphics. I played it recently and felt it was great. I like the music and sound effects to. I like the Fem-bot woman who tells you your mission details.

One of the really nice things I liked about this game is the ability to move buildings.

Blizzard is strange company. They take like 10 years to come out with a sequel but when they do, the game is so fun and well made that people play and talk about it for 10 years later! :D

I don't even play much games anymore, but SCII is the one game I am getting for sure.

It was bound to happen since it is such an old game and its skill level is so high

Man, now I'm starting up Starcraft again. I can't believe how bad I am. I am hoping to play with people that suck as bad as I do. That was part of my issue playing online, always people were so much better than me that I frequently lost.

I am not a fan of the regular game these days I probably suck worse than you, but I have been doing some custom games in WC3 here and there.

Though SF4 is my new poison currently. Been a long long time since I have had a fighting game that I can play against human people. It even has voice support so you hear them scream NOOOOO as you nail them with an ultra combo :p

I get way too worked up in the standard game mode of SC and too many interruptions usually to play it.

I used to play Terran because of Boxer and Nada but I couldn't handle the build order and intense APM required for Terran so I switched to Protoss. Been that ever since. I love the crazy strats that Boxer did on those old pro maps.

Right now I like Bisu and Jaedong as players. Jaedong's Zerg is amazing.

Heh, I remember playing Starcraft all day in CAD Class on the last day of school.8 player Deathmatch....can't beat that.

Remember I was playing Marines and I had gotten out of focus because of an ongoing battle against my friend Jason who was playing as protoss, allowing my other friend daniel(playing as zerg) to move into base destroying all of my SCVs.That lead to my downfall.

Starcraft II on definitly on buy list but I'm gonna wait until price goes down.No way I'm paying 60 bucks for this game.

it's just a pity that Blizzard decided to remove lan from SC2...
but SC1 had some brilliant moments... like when vsing a friend who insists on being protoss, but never changes his strat (always going for a dark templar rush)... lest we forget building a wall playing as terran at your natural choke point, Amen

yup sc2 has no lan... There will be Lan capabilities, but that would be through B.net (as in all comps would have to have an active internet connection or something similar)...

I'll try and find the source again, google has about 1000 links that have sources of it

We'll see how things play out with the LAN issue. I think in the end, Blizzard will realize they have more to gain by leaving in the LAN play.

I hope they'll realize it, but everyone's gonna buy the game anyways so I hope they don't go "sales are doing amazing, keeping LAN out hasn't negatively affected anything! leave it out!" or maybe they'll do the opposite and decide to restore LAN play after they've reached a certain sales quota and piracy is less of a concern for them at that point

If you read about it, the reason they are taking out LAN is because of the countless # of games getting pirated.

Soo...if they were doing bad in sales, and then they put LAN in the game, it would actually make the sales worse...

yeah which is why I hope they add it in after they cash in on all the sales which they're guaranteed to have, for every person that buys it, that's one less potential pirate they have to worry about

That doesn't make any sense.Everyone knows the game will be pirated anyway.I mean, come on.Not matter what a company does to defeat piracy there is always some cracker out there that beats it.Its impossible to defeat the pirates. How much you wanna bet the day SC2 comes out there will be like 20 torrents on The Pirate Bay?

With how much blizzard is making, Im sure they will find ways to cut down the pirates...And you say its impossible, I say its not. One reason is because there are more hackers than crackers(i think) And Im sure blizz has some skilled hackers. Plus, even if there were 20 torrents, whoever downloads them will not be able to play online. So they will have fun playing by themselves.

O hey, the page says the match will be at 1300 KST. Does anyone know what time that would be EST?

Edit: Never mind, I see Korea is 13 hours ahead of us. And I think 1300 hours means 1 PM? So that means the match would be tonight at midnight for me.

dropship play in Terran vs Terran is very important due to the lack of mobility of tanks/goliaths. TvT is a matchup based on positioning so being able to move your units around the map quickly is vital.
