Hopefully there will be a sale on skyrim this friday so I can get it for my friends for christmas![]()

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
A game this popular and just recently released won't be getting a sale this early I am afraid...
You will have to wait till next year for even a sale on Skyrim to even happen. I will admit that Skyrim has been in gaming this year, the biggest selling game so far, even surpassing the lots of MW3, BF3, DA 2, DX: HR and even Portal 2. I am sure Bethsoft would not need even mention the word 'sale' to even get more copies sold at retail price in the coming month or two. -
Q: How do you play caster? I mean pure caster that does damage purely with spells.
What trees to level besides destruction? What armor to use? I mean surely you can get robes to start with but can you just disenchant them and enchant light armor with +destruction damage instead? -
I also focus on conjuration for raising dead or summoning atronarchs. They can help keep an enemies attention so you don't take as many hits and need the armor. Also with conjuration, if you find yourself within melee range and need more protection you can conjure armor to keep you protected until you can escape back to a safe distance again.

Horse never survives long. Climb mountain, slip, horse dies. Running along path, wolves, then a sabre cat and then a bear eats my horse. Traveling elsewhere, see dragon. Pull it down to fight, but dragon ignores me and runs over and eats my horse. Now I'm running on foot again.
-
^^ I was frustrated with horse at first as well. Then i learned to leave it away from camps that i am planning to engage. One thing to note: horse will ALWAYS find its way to you if its alive so you dont need to worry when leaving it in the middle of nowhere to travel by foot. Leave it, fast travel somwhere, horse is near you again.
I dont engage anything when running as well — cba to dismount to kill a bear, i just run away. -
There is an invincible horse.
-
This is why I didn't bother with a horse. I actually did buy one and realized how much of a hassle they are. So I reverted back on a saved game to get rid of it and haven't bothered since.
Once you huff it to your locations you have fast travel available anyway, so I'm fine without a horse. -
i don't use fast travel. for me personally it ruins the whole immersion feeling of the game which is why I rely on my horse. But they are stupid imo. I am looking for a mod that will give the horses proper AI. If something a few levels below them attacks, like a lone wolf, it will stomp the hell out of it. But if a pack of wolves or something stronger than the horse appears it will run away instead of fighting and dying.
Falling off a cliff I am ok with. I wouldn't expect any horse to survive that.
Edit: A trading system with the horse, like with the companions, would be a good addition too. Loot a dungeon and then place it on the horse so you have space available to loot another. Horses have always been used as pack animals so why can't we do that in game? -

I'm playing a pure mage right now and I'll say this...later in the game you simply cannot only rely on destruction, you NEED to summon stuff. Also expect to die a lot, your companion will die a lot too so save often unless you don't care. I would also recommend maxing out enchanting so you can get more bang for your buck...because lets be honest - you won't be wearing a lot of light or heavy armor so you need as much of an edge as possible.
IMO, in terms of difficulty I would say a stealth MM/rogue is by far the easiest class to play, followed by mage, then warrior. Warriors are so stupid hard to play...at least sword and board. Hopefully 2H is a lot easier -
I played stealth archer and i didnt ever used a companion nor died...
Vs dragons just had to use resist pot and maybe a health pot or two.
But why do you think i shouldnt use light armor? i can enchant it with anything i like.
Summoning mobs to fight for me fits fine i guess.
As for the warriors — some dragons completely drain stamina. Not sure what warriors can do vs that. -

Did you finish the mages guild quest line? If not, you'll see why. You should be ok using leather gloves and boots though but you won't be able to use many skill points -
Link's not loading
What's it about?
I agree wholeheartedly. I spent something like 4-5 hours just running around the place and exploring every little bit, just to make sure I didn't miss anything. Reminded me of... Ultima Underworld.
Junk.
You can wear light armour, or even heavy armour, if you want to. The problem is that these armours affect your magicka regen. Robes are probably best. Just conjure up some meat shields or bring along a tanky companion. Lydia works okay to start with. Eventually, if you pick up the house in Solitude, you get a housecarl who has 500HP. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking, she does...
Sword & Board - ridiculously powerful, is what it is. I've been playing through the game on Master as a sword & board warrior, and I think it's probably the easiest class to play as. Mages get gibbed and staggered too easily, while rogues are going to have a lot more trouble with anything that can't be sneak-attacked.
Me? If it isn't a caster, it's going to have a hard time doing any damage at all to me. If it -is- a caster, then an Unrelenting Force or Ice Form will shut it down until I can get close enough to hit it in the face. Hit it with my 400-damage mace.
Archery doesn't seem too bad in Skyrim, either. Loads better than it was in Oblivion, and works quite nicely with Sneak. I started training Sneak and Archery after maxing/almost maxing my regular combat skills, and it can help tip the odds (even more) in my favour before a fight even gets started. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Go and play the Dark Brotherhood quests and get a familiar horse that can never die. In fact use her to duel Krosis mano a mano for you if you want!
Just by occasionally using Sneak and Archery (and by looking at the perks) I will agree with you. This is one of the first RPG games to make rogues look like they are walking gods. Most other RPG's often make playing as a Rogue very, very difficult.
Or if no one noticed, you can disenchant some of the magicka properties from a robe and put it on your armor. That is what I am doing on top of a very good and very specific Dragon Priest Mask. Sure it is not as good as wearing pure robes, but it is a good trade-off. I am sure mods in the future will bring out customized mage armor if you don't like the current options you can partake.

playing a dual wield rogue who doesn't use archery is quite challenging on master difficulty, especially if you roll without any companions.
once you start getting to blood dragons and frost dragons, unless you get to the highest level perk with 100 sneak that makes enemies ignore you, the only way to defeat them is to get dragons to attack other creatures or giants so you can sneak up on them. I spent hours trying to beat one frost dragon.
If you play with a good companion, the game seems much more balanced, however, on master difficulty (at least for my poor hand-eye coordination).
Also, the archery perks for Slow Time and Stagger Effect are a hell of a lot of fun. I started out not intending to use archery, but I find I'm using it all the time now. Using the slow time perk, you can fire off 10 shots with a bow when an enemy is charging before he even gets close to you. And if your sneak is high enough, they will all be triple damage.
It's still the most rewarding to use daggers for backstabbing, however. Even as a very low level character I noticed the stealth gameplay was massively improved. You can make a sneak attack, run away, hide somewhere and eventually get your "hidden" status back, then go and get some revenge.
Even at level 35, I'm still one-shotted frequently by enemies because I haven't specced into light armor or health at all. So it's a sort of "glass cannon" build I suppose. -
I'm doing part of the main quest to get my 8th mask. I havne't encountered the Dark Brotherhood yet, but I'll look into it.
-
Shadowmere can survive dragon attacks, endless forsword ambushes, draedic princes, giants, mammoths, etc.
But it can't survive a 30-foot drop from a cliff?! -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
But can you explain her ability to climb mountains that are physically impossible???
Mako Horse!
-
Wow. Seriously, you need a special mega achievement for playing the game without fast travel. That's nuts!
-
There are items that further increase your backstab multiplier.
It's obscene. -
^^ playing with companions isnt for me at all xD
-
I don't use companions they just get in the way and my destruction spells almost kill them anyhow. I tried using Lydia but so annoying so when she got mobbed, I just watched her die and then killed them off myself and then I looted Lydia, and sold her gear.
So far, I'm level 27 and I have no issues being pure mage destruction. I've killed everything from Elder Dragons and every Dragon Priest so far on Expert difficulty. I don't have any plans to play on Master difficulty. -
I had 4 companions so far and 2 of them died lol
and they were the ones that you get for free like the one assigned to you by the Jarl and another that you get for beating her in fistfighting -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
I stick to using Mage Companions since their AI are way better than any of the Housecarl Jr.'s (see what I did there?
). The ones from the College of Winterhold are pretty solid. Plus give them extra tomes of their magic specialty and they will use them for even more goodness.
The Housecarl or melee companions are not that good, but I will vouch for the Mages.
Currently a duo of pwnage with Brelyna. -
I think I've got my favorite character I have created in any of the TES games. A dark elf vampire mage named Drakul. The racial fire resistence negates the fire weakness of vampires so I've got only the positives. Plus, the grey/white skin and red eyes are fitting for a vampire. I'm specializing in destruction and conjuration so I'm basically a necromancer raising dead armies to fight for me. The Ritual Stone goes perfect with this character as it gives one chance a day to resurrect multiple slain goons. All I need is a red cape and a harem of women following him around and he would be perfect.
-
Is feeding easy to do? So you can stay at stage 1 vampire?
-
I suppose here may be the place to ask.
Does anyone here play skyrim with the 560M?
I'm ordering a notebook tomorrow and the skyrim is the only game I wish to play on ultra.
I'm wondering if I should buy a notebook with a Nividia 560M or pay more for the ATI 6990.
I'm a bit apprehensive about ATI's drivers though, whereas nivdia already has a beta driver out. Anyways, can anyone give some input? -
Ya, feeding is easy. Just sneak up to a sleeping npc. And if you search around you'll find quite a few bandit hideouts. I prefer to feed on them so I don't have to risk getting caught in a city.

Magicka and Stamina combat regen rate at Skyrim Nexus - Skyrim Mods and community
One of the few mods I'm using. The regeneration of magicka and stamina is only 30% of your normal regeneration rate outside of combat. So I spend a lot of my time dodging enemies for my magicka to regen, playing tag. This mod fixes that. Doesn't make sense I think to have different regeneration rates. Can't think of a logical reason why regen would decrease just because I'm in combat, still firing the same spells.
Personally I think this is a fix for a Bethesda bug, even if they did it intentionally, I call it a bug since it makes no sense to me. -

If your magicka and stamina regen rate was that high, there would be not much benefit to potions and all the magicka regen items.
Currently I craft and use a lot of potions and it makes them that much more rewarding. -
My alchemy is 65, I make plenty of potions. I prefer to have my magicka gear actually do something.
-
Lower regen in battle makes perfect sense....
-
None to me so I love the mod.
Anyone else who agrees with me, this mod will be awesome for you. -
yea, i agree, makes sense..
Wish there was a witcher type mod.. no potions mid battle.. plan and prepare before it..! -
I agree with the others. Will you regain your own stamina faster if you aren't doing anything or if you are still fighting? Plus, I think it's more of a challenge having to keep an eye on your stamina and magicka and use potions during battle.
But that's the great thing about mods, anything we don't like and would prefer to have different we can.

LMAO...

I have two toons...
-Spellsword (1H melee, destruction, light armor, conjuring)
-Sword and Board warrior(1H melee, block, heavy armor, blacksmithing)
Honestly, the mage kills a LOT faster and destroys other mages (dragon skin + ward + 1H weapon = whole room of dead mages), but the warrior is a LOT harder to kill.
I wouldnt say either is easier... each has its strengths and weaknesses.
As for armor for mage... early on robes are better, but after enchanting reaches a reasonable level, light really does become quite viable for mana regen.
Robes are easier to get really nice mana and -%mana spell school enchants and more powerful ones, and you can take the alteration perk for mage armor...
Light armor is a great middle-ground and offers significantly more protection all the time than you will ever get from alteration effects. (especially with blacksmithing) You also don't need to spend much in the way of perks to get some very nice benefits.
Heavy armor really is for warriors only... heavy, noisy, hard to run in, but offering the best protection and stagger protection with perks. I advise mages avoid. (throwing fireballs is a LOT easier when they didn't know you were coming a mile away...) You don't need to be ultra-sneaky to enjoy having the first shot in any fight in light or robes. -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
LMAO!
I wanted to share one also!

It's fairly obvious it's for balance...game would be way too easy if I had all my regen at 100% in combat.
-
Pretty sure in every mmo I've played (ones that had magic involved anyways) had either much less, or 0, mana regen while in combat.
Most other single player games you don't even regen mana/hp outside of combat, you have to find some sort of health potion or sleep. -
How many bunnies have you slaughtered?
So far for me it's 7.
Good for you, enjoy running around either jugging potions or waiting for your magicka to regen. I don't do any melee or archery as I don't like them, I like spells and I like to use them, not play tag kiting mobs around forever while waiting for regen. I think jugging potions feels more like cheating or easy mode than just use a mod for regen. -
Disappointing for Master Destruction. They are stationary area of effect spells that take a while to cast.
I guess I'll stick to the expert level spells. -
You can buy the rest of the Master Spells if your destruction is high enough. Theres a master spell for each of the elements.
-
Just got into modding Skyrim Textures. Made this awesome robe for my Mage.
Check it out.
Really digging modding so far. Been Playing around with my Atronarch summon skins to improve their looks. -
Ugh, the "Witcher 2"esque over-saturation and sharpening with that FXAA injector profile doesn't really fit with how Skyrim feels, in my opinion.
-
I thought a majority of the magic in Skyrim was underwhelming...there was cooler stuff in "Magicka".
-
Well, I like it. Good thing Skyrim's color scope wasn't designed like this from the start then.
Btw this is just a custome profile. You can tweak the FXAA injector anyway you want. You can even decrease saturation down from the vanilla levels. You can tweak tone-map/saturation/sharpening/blur/vignette, etc. -
Nice! What are you using?
-
I created new character, this time a high elf, full on mage again. But this time I'm going to side with the Imperials, the Nords suck. After being the pivotal force in their victory over the imperial, they still run around saying dark elves are worthless (I was dark elf). This time I'll side with the imperials and clean up these ingrates.
-
I have a high elf mage and it's awesome, Highborn is a pretty good power to have.
