For those that want to be a werewolf whenever they want and as often as they want
1. Go to Falkreath Prison and speak to the prisoner in the last cell. The prison is in the bottom floor of the barracks.
2. Offer to take the cursed ring of Hircine from him and hunt down the beast
3. After you kill the beast Hircine's spirit will appear and ask you to hunt down Sinding. He's the prisoner.
4. When you find him in Bloated Man's Grotto don't start shooting at him. Walk up to him.
5. Agree to help him kill the hunters and do it.
6. Once the hunters are dead turn on Sinding and kill him too.
7. Hircine will appear and give you the Savior's Hide armor as a reward.
8. When you leave the cave he will appear a second time and reward you with the ring if you tell him that you failed to bring down Sinding.
This is obviously a glitch since Hircine gives you two rewards. There are multiple ways to do this. The way I said will get you both rewards. Also, if you start shooting arrows at Sinding instead of talking to him you will kill him and only receive the Savior's Hide. Or, help him and don't betray him at the end and Hircine will only appear when you leave the cave and you will only get the ring.
What the Ring of Hircine does is let you transform into a werewolf as many times a day as you like. Instead of using the beast power equip the ring and then use the ring from the magic menu. -
Can I shoot fire balls as a Werewolf?
-
no
just got those big claws.
On a positive note, I have seen a few mod discussions at the Nexus where people are talking of doing werewolf mods where you can have full access to spells, armor, weapons, etc. -
Has anyone beaten a dragon priest on expert~master difficulty yet? I'm playing on expert and the first dragon priest I ran into absolutely dominated me. Had to run away from it.
-
The Caller?
-
Huh? The what?

I'm in the same boat, except the first dragon priest I ran into was the uber-powerful Knosis. -

There is also a howl attack (I think you use the shout button or power attack).
When you release it, it makes enemies run in fear. -
You use 'z' to fear everyone around; it's pretty overpowered since you can use it on any non-massive enemy, doesn't matter how powerful they are, they will stop attacking and run for a minute while you beat them to death.
Edit: yeah same, I ran into Knosis when I was level 13 I think (went to seek out the dragonshout because of a letter I received); every fireball it threw takes away 80% of my HP lol. And those fireball ranges are HUGE. -
This is what anyone set on fire looks like in my game.. sigh. As you can see even the bandit thug is weary of being consumed by blocky black flames.
-
^ Lol wow. Do you have your drivers updated to the latest version?
-
Why in bloody hell are you playing vanilla Skyrim?
-
Not yet, I'm currently using 11.10 and was going to update when they came out with "working" caps for skyrim.
-
Vanilla? I most certainly am not. I have a bunch of different mods already installed. The best one so far is the custom FXAA injector, makes the game look really WOW.

Might it be one of your mods causing your issues?

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Let me test it tonight. I got some stuff to haul back to Breezehome anyways from Labyrinthian.
As for the Dragon Priests, I know that the one you seek in the place I mentioned above was really easy. He won't dare to attack you if you kept slashing him with your melee. I have a sense that was a glitch... -
Cant say i seen any glitches like that when i have been playing. D;
I use vanilla with AMD Catalyst 11.10 WHQL.
Been making a ton of money grabbing all the armor and weapons enemies have dropped, brought them back to town for some blacksmith upgrading.
Currently rocking full Dragonscale + my glass dagger (Legendary). :3
(Still gotta go meet up with he Greybeards) -

Did you try adjusting your Catalyst A.I. settings?
-
If it's a glitch, only you have it.
I just tried the method you described, and Knosis still killed me about 5 times before I gave up. He still throws fireballs like a boss even when I'm hacking away right at him. I don't think he's even scratched by his own fireballs. -

Finally decided to order Skyrim and had 2 questions:
Is any type of online activation required? (I don't have a personal internet connection)
Which website has the cheapest hard copy I can order? -
It is a steamworks title, so it requires steam and therefore internet to get the game going as far as I know.
-
Yes, it is a Steamworks game. And I bought mine from GreenManGaming.com for about $50.
-
Ah...well that's disappointing.
-
How do you post here without internet?
Couldn't you download it at a cafe or something? -
Just download it and set Steam to offline mode. Voila.
-
The game randomly quits on me after a few minutes. No error or unexpected quit message...
-
I really wonder after playing the side quests. With all those world-destroying mage orb, world-conquering key etc, how the hell is a black dragon even remotely the biggest ?

Conjuring Question
If I fight with a conjured one handed sword does that increase experience in Conjuration or One handed or both? Also, do perks picked in the one handed category apply to conjured swords?
Thanks in advance! I've always done straight melee or mage in the other TES games, never mixed them before so I'm kinda clueless on how that works. -
I think full on Mage is fun, which is what I'm doing. All my points are in Destruction, Restoration, and Alteration.
Alteration for the increase in defense. Restoration for heals. Destruction to kill.
I don't do hybrid, I use dual cast for all three. Heal fast. Dual alteration means better protection. And dual cast fireball = stun.
Fastest way to kill anything in Skyrim is dual cast destruction. Impact keeps just about everything down and if they manage to get close, you have your dragon shout. -
It applies to both. As far as I've seen, you gain experience in Conjuration for the entire time you have something summoned. And yes, onehanded perks apply to conjured weapons too. I have the perk for chopping heads off.
-
I post at work, one of the few perks of sitting behind a computer for 13 hours a day.
I'm in Afghanistan...there aren't cafes, and we're not allowed to download anything at our 1 public wifi locaiton (even if you try it's like 10kb/sec) and it's so slow that steam won't even register that you're connect to the internet. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
I prefer a hybrid since it makes me feel like I can hack and slash with some good old magic arsenal. I found myself having good decent armor protection and melee damaging factors with some heavy armor and swords, yet having some good spells to keep your range of attack a bit high at times.
I personally favor Conjuration, Destruction and Restoration. -
My level 23 Altmer might be boned. He was originally going to be a "nightblade"-esque class. Sadly now, he doesn't have any skill above 45 except sneak... but that's because he became a vampire.
From level 1-8, I was a God. Nothing could kill me, even on Master. But, then things started going down hill fast. My old tactic of "sneak, summon flame antronach, fish for one or two people, kill them separately" started to not work at level 13 when any mage could oneshot my atronach or even turn it against me.
I am forced to play on Novice just so I don't need an apothecary's worth of potions for each dungeon, and I noticed a huge flaw in my character when I did the Peryite daedra quest. That final boss literally took hours each time before he just hammered me down like a nail. -
Yeah, Skyrim is actually refreshingly hard compared to Oblivion, or any of the Bethesda Fallout games (3/NV). I'm playing on Expert difficulty right now, level 17, light-armor bow/shield/axe warrior, and some mages can 2-shot kill me. Giants DO 1-shot kill me, no exceptions (I actually took one down for a quest though, by kiting it and shooting it with arrows, FUS-ROing it when it got too close, and having Lydia distract it whenever possible).
I find the werewolf trait to be invaluable in these situations, as you can bash even the strongest NPCs to the ground with power attacks, and also howl to fear lesser NPCs away temporarily so as to not be ganked. -
You will find ice form later in the game that is an amazing shout for locking down enemy's, run in ice form (basically turns them into a block of ice and stuns them as they come out of it) the master mage murder his minions then come back to finish the job.
Currently lvl 36, the only thing cable of killing me are mages, my own fault really cba to enchant my dragon armour with resists lol.
Anyone else found Blackreach yet? the place is amazing
Pic Below.

After putting about 35hrs into this game I've gotta say Bethesda definitely impressed me again. I spent more time playing Morrowind than I have any other game, about 350hrs, and I can see Skyrim surpassing that. I'll agree with others that it might not have the kind of graphics that TW2 did, but it's more than adequate to get me lost in the story for hours on end and completely lose all sense of time. I haven't touched my Xbox, movies, books, anything since installing this game. Only time I'm awake and not playing is when I'm at work and even then I'm on here talking about it or searching the nexus for mods every free chance that I get.
-
I think Skyrim will be the best selling PC game for 2011. I think more people will receive Skyrim as Christmas gifts, and buying on Black Friday than any other.
BF3 is already dying. And Skyrim is just one of those games PC Gamers will be playing non-stop for a VERY long time.
I still enjoyed Witcher 2 way more than I'm enjoying Skyrim. But I've only completed one quest line and right now gathering Dragon Priest masks (Have 4), and probably wasted well over 20 hours. I'm only level 23. This game area is certainly large, but it's all the same. All the dungeons look the same to me, the same mountains, shacks etc. But seeing a Giant beating on a dragon's head and winning never gets old. -
I just found that place yesterday. Although, I just ran through it instead of marveling its beauty. Some monsters killed me pretty quick there.
-
I've put in ~40 hours and am only level 18 right now, didn't even retrieve the horn yet, also I'm wayy too weak to kill any Dragon Priest i.e. Krosis. We must be playing at a different pace then. Found Expert difficulty to be the most fun, nice balance of challenge and reward.
-
Lol yea, after the first dragon fight, I found another who attacked me in the middle of a plain. I thought I was done for since I didn't have any soldiers to fight with me and out of nowhere, BAM! A giant attack the dragon and basically saves my life. I run away and see the Giant and the dragon fighting in the distance and a few mammoths join in to help the giant. The dragon flies around and I hide in a dungeon. That alone is ing epic rpg material.
-
I'm playing on expert. Dragon Priests aren't very difficult if you are a mage. I just kite them around. In every place there are obstacles you can use for line of sight. While waiting for magicka to regenerate, I just keep something between myself and the priest.
-
I see, yeah lots of elemental resistance probably helps a lot, I'm playing a light-armored bow/shield guy and cannot deal any damage to Krosis without him landing a fireball or two on me and insta-gib me. Summoning a dremora with Sanguine Rose doesnt help either as Krosis is about to convert it into his own summoning.
-
My skill level for Destruction, Restoration and Alteration are all 65+ because I use then constantly. I use armor buff, obviously heals and then I do dual cast lightning most of the time. It's the one I find mobs have least resistance to.
-
Does anyone know is soul gem fragments do anything? I have quite a few that are pilling up.
