So after clean installation iam using now only the high res texture pack and some gameplay changes but nothing that decrease my fps.
I get about 30-60 fps because i only have a gtx 460 with 768mb GDDR5 thats not so much memory for the high res textures but it is still a smooth gameplay i think =)
Cant wait for Dawnguard it looks just amazing and the new spells look really interesting
-
Really need to get back into skyrim and put battlefield 3 down! Ive got so many mods it'll probably take a few hours updating them all.
-
I think the werewolf perks, crossbow, and mounted combat should be included in the next patch of Skyrim instead of the DLC.
-
I think everything should be included in patches instead of DLC.

Why not just give us the whole game for free, while they're at it?
All kidding aside, the entertainment value on this game is in the hundreds or thousands of hours for a lot of us, not to mention all the free mod content constantly being created.
I'm happy to kick another $20 their way. It's still a better value than any other games I've purchased in the past few years (except TF2 which was free). -
Hear, hear!
In all reality, without the prevalence of DLC, there's basically no chance that features like mounted combat, crossbows, and additional skill trees would have ever been released as a patch anyway. Why would a company throw additional content at people who have already forked over their 60bux? -
What really ticks me is bill gates throwing yet more money at bethesda to get exclusive first release of dawnguard on xbox.
-
When they say that, isn't PC included? I always thought when things came out "first" on Xbox people were simple referring to Xbox vs PS3
-
No ps3 and us pc users will need to wait like a month later or whatever their schedule is.

Man what a huge thread. I built my gateway nv78 for this game!
All I wanted to say was, the orcs are AWESOME, so much cooler than they were in oblivion and morrowind. -
moviemarketing Milk Drinker
Totally agree, surprisingly even some of the Orc chicks are smoking hot! -
One of the more underrated races in Skyrim are the Argonians imo. Their shiny scaly skin are pretty sleek looking imo. Want an Argonian companion asap ;D

Is that an easter basket you're carrying?
Nice! -
I wasn't aware that you can equip flower baskets, although I did see NPC's carrying them around.

Nice decapitation - poor Khajiit! I once decapitated a ghost, wish I had thought to take a screenshot at the time.
And I like your camping set up - is that from a mod? -
It's the Camping Kit of the Northern Ranger.
Steam Workshop :: Camping Kit of the Northern Ranger
The firewood in my game looks terrible. I'll look for a mod for that. -
This is what you need my friend: Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized at Skyrim Nexus - Skyrim mods and community
it fixes all the high res firewood textures that Bethesda messed up and is more optimized than the original Bethesda DLC with the same or better quality.
Here's a few more pics from me
-
I prefer to use skyrim Hd along with other texture mods. It looks a lot better than the official texture pack.
Heres some pics ive got with texture mods in use mainly the imaginator mod, more scenic style shots though:Attached Files:
-
-
I use the 2k textures as well, although they are more GPU taxing than the ones from the link I provided.
-
True and i would recommend atleast 1gb of vram for it to. Ive seen skyrim up to 1.5gb vram usage before on my 3gb gt 555m.
-
With my gtx 460 (768mb) high res texture packs are really hard to enjoy evertime i watch in another direction my fps drops from 50 to 30
-
Guys does adding new texture packs make the game run any slower?
also what downloads/texture pack to add to the game? im so new to pc version of skyrim, the game looks really good compared to console version -
It will effect performance a bit but if you have over 1gb of vram it will help.
Go here for the top 100 skyrim mods Skyrim Nexus - Skyrim mods and community
I use Skyrim HD mainly and lots of other mods. -
woah how overwhelming.
what are the good mods, good graphic mods for oblivion and morrowing? -
moviemarketing Milk Drinker
I've found that the official Hi Res texture pack released by Bethesda and a couple of others, such as Real Glaciers and Skyrim Flora Overhaul don't reduce my frame rate at all.
Also, there is a fantastic little mod that greatly improves the way that distant terrain looks, with zero reduction in frame rate, called Enhanced Distant Terrain -
how is official dlc texture? how much does it look beter?
-
moviemarketing Milk Drinker
Personally, I think it looks great. I don't know of any kind of comparison to the stock textures, but I'd suggest to try it and if you don't like it you can always switch back to vanilla or try a mod.
I sent you a PM with some more possible mod recommendations, depending on what kind of gameplay you prefer - let me know if you have any questions. -
That's beautiful! The graphics of your game is so different! -
Thats only at 1600x900 aswell as its before i got my desktop and 1920x1080 screen so it looks even better now. I'll have to take some newer pics.
But honestly get this mod IMAGINATOR - Visual Control Device for Skyrim at Skyrim Nexus - Skyrim mods and community it will do wonders, you can control contrast, saturation and every colour setting you can think of in game with real time changes. -
Iam not the owner of the video.
Skyrim performance on a laptop with dual 7970m =)
Skyrim on Ultra with HRTP and the 7970m in Crossfire - YouTube -
moviemarketing Milk Drinker
Very nice, what is HRTP? Do you have any other demanding mods installed?
Also, what is your framerate like without using the FRAPS or whatever software that was? -
Sry but as i said iam not the owner of the video ^^
I think HRTP stands for high resolution texture pack but i dont know if the owner uses other mods -
moviemarketing Milk Drinker
Sorry, I totally misread that! Thought you said you were the owner
I would have expected a lot higher frame rate with dual 7970m's, since I get 40-60fps with a single crappy 5830m and I have some high res texture mods installed. But it does vary in certain areas, maybe if I got to exactly the same spot shown in the video it would drop. However, I haven't recorded any video, so perhaps that is the reason for lower frame rate. -
I think without the recording software you can get up too 20fps more =)
But i saw that the fps are not really higher as on a single 7970m :O -
is it worth getting this game for pc if i already have on ps3? is there a lot of mods flying around like there was for oblivion?
-
moviemarketing Milk Drinker
Yeah, there are already thousands of mods and the developers just fixed an issue with the Creation Kit that affected big quest mods, so in the next few months there will be more and more of those.
Personally I wouldn't be able to go back to playing without mods or playing below 1920x1080 resolution without high res textures, 16xAF and all the other settings available for PC -
This, i would never buy a bethesda game for a console. You just miss to much.
-
I really would like to see someone playing skyrim on a high end laptop with really much texture and a enb mod (sharpshooters extrem graphic for example) because iam really interested if this would run smooth =)
-
i am interested to see that too
-
Well enb wont work on optimus so you need a non optimus laptop unless you try the injector. Imo i think all enb mods look ****, i just use the imagintor mod with tex packs, you can mostly achieve the same results with ZERO performance loss.
-
Can you send me the links of those mods except imaginator mod? Also, what are your settings for imaginator?
-
Sure my settings are a few of the presets mixed being: warm northern lights, pop photo shoot, nice overall enhancement and warm northern lights again. Then just tweak the contrast and saturation to your liking.
I'll link the mods later when im at my pc (on ipod now) but i'll give you the names of most of the texture/graphic mods: Skyrim HD, Water, SMIM (static mesh improvement mod), lush trees and grass, imaginator, enhanced blood textures, glowing ore veins, realistic lighting with customisation, skyrim flora overhaul, Improved npc clothing, XCE, better gold, hi res paper, real ice, hi res road signs.
There the ones off the top of my head but i'll link them and have a look for the rest later. All on skyrim nexus btw. -
Let's Play Heavily Modded Skyrim - Part 13 - YouTube
Here is someone playing on a Alienware M17xR3 with a enb mod =)
But i dont really like this enb mod in my opinion this doesnt look that nice -
I just installed Imaginator yesterday and loving it. I am using Photop pop shoot, then Warm Desaturation twice.
Looks fantastic on my system, much more realistic color balance than before. -
Yeah i think its a fantastic mod with real time in game changes and no loss in performance. Combine it with realistic lighting and you have a very nice looking game.
-
I really like Realistic Lighting, it makes me feel anxious when I go out at night and makes dungeons feel very immersive. I have this mod which causes a very interesting Argonian called Two-Tails (the *DWARVENBORN* he calls himself rofl) to be trapped in a tower surrounded by Dwarven Constructs. It was incredibly beautiful fighting them off in the darkness of the night. One would think that the details of the HD textures would be lost in a mod that makes nights darker, but it only enhances the focus on what you DO see and creates a feeling of realism.
RL ultimately turns me off because of the little things that are wrong with it. The grass at night is pure black when you use a torch or the spell Candlelight to create some vision, which causes a very odd looking contrast to the fully lit ground beneath it. If they somehow fixed that problem I would be using it for sure.
--Edit: UGH! Bethesda has fooled me again. It is not RL that causes the pitch black grass texture bug, but the 1.5 patch!
For anyone wondering, this is what I'm talking about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrnxpTcUvPQ
Never really payed attention to this problem during rainstorms but it's there.
I only noticed it more with RL enabled because I HAD to use torches to get around and the bug only shows when a Candlelight spell is enabled.
I read on a TES forum that 1.6 beta has an option to disable the grass shadows so I will be giving that a try asap and reporting. -
moviemarketing Milk Drinker
Anyone pick up Dawnguard on Steam yet? Did it work OK with your mods?
I'm planning to, but I probably won't have time to try it until the weekend.
