yeah i agree with you vicious. when i do use the bow im moving around with my team alot more than i do with the rifle.

 

yeah it works well, you have a few meat shields up front like a heavy or soldier and people are pre-ocupied with them and your right behind them getting a great chance to pick off targets.

That heavy that would have ripped through your team with his medic pal, you just shoot right through your team mate and kill the medic, or often times can kill the heavy outright with a headshot. You just need to be weary of the spy sneaking from behind or the pyro rush.

 

The bow is ok, one time this medic was chasing me with his health syringes and i had like 17hp left, i waited around a corner on egypt with the bow stretched, as soon as he came around i hs'ed him. I was like 'YEAH BIATCH HOW DARE YOU FOLLOW ME!?'. It was good.

 

man i'm jealous. i still want to try out the bow, but haven't been able to find it yet.

in cs 1.6, i'm a rushing-type awp'er. the bow seems like it'll fit my play style very well. as for tf2, i'm just a bad @$$ assault engie.

 

Oh, when I play engineer I'm always an assault one. ^^
The wrench has, like, 70% crit chance, which is pretty useful for owning enemies, no matter the size.

Why don't you just unlock the achievements? That's how I got it. Just choose the easiest and pin them to the HUD. You should get the bow in no time.

 

i have no idea which achievements unlock what. i kinda went on a break from tf2 for a while until this update came out. should i just goto an achievement server?

 

You CAN go to an achievement server, but what's the fun in that? <:
I think the achievement unlocking works the same way as it always have - depending on the number of unlocked achievements you find new weapons. I think 24 achievements for a class unlocks EVERY new weapon for it, but I'm not so sure about this.

Yeah you have "milestones" so many # of class specific achievements no matter what they are unlocks a mile stone and an item.

I think now that they let you use achievements again the hats are the only thing you have to find.

I need to get that evil medic gun, the butslauger I saw so many "battle medics" owning with that.

 

Now that the old weapon unlocking system is back, Valve is sure to add some more stuff to find, EXCEPT hats. I mean they said how much work they've put into the trading system, it would be a shame if all went for nothing.

A good sniper with the rifle is more help to his team than a good sniper with a Huntsman. The problem is that all the awful snipers give the good ones a bad rap.

 

I use the bow because it's satisfying .

 

my gripe about the sniper rifle is that it really limits yur mobility and field of vision. the bow really creates a whole nother playin style for the hunter. one that i very much prefer.

if u compare the sniper rifle to say, cs 1.6's awp, where u can be an aggresive rushing type of awper. thats one of the reasons why i never really played the sniper in tf2. it doesn't fit my playing style at all. i hate standing behind and campin. i like to be in the middle of all the action cuz i'm just a bad mofo like that. i prefer to play an assault engie. i can own pretty much any class at close or mid range with my shotty and wrench. only one that gives me a problem head to head is a heavy cuz they just have too much hp. don't let me build my sentry and dispenser to lvl 3. i'm usually the foundation of my team's offensive and defensive scheme when i play an engie.

 

...and I'm the sniper on Red on Badlands who racks up 65 points, more than my entire team combined, all on the first point because Blu can't even make it to our end of the tunnel without a bullet in the head.

True story, points and all. My point is, a good sniper (And I've played against a few very good snipers in my regular servers) can completely shut down a path or chokepoint, to the point that nobody can get through without an uber. You just can't do that with the Huntsman.

 

But you must made my point in a way, the sniper is very much area & stage specific of when you can do really good and rack up those points, in the smaller rush like stages the huntsman is better and gives you a fighting chance.

 

Thanks to reinstating the Milestones method of unlocking items, I now have everything for the spy + sniper except for the Razorback and Death Ringer. The old system was annoying me because it gave me 4 bows and I got virtually nothing else It's much more fun completing achievements (NOT on achievement servers).

 

Looks like the patch from yesterday removed the getting items while in spectate bug.

I did not plan to do that for the weapons, but I debated doing it to try to get some of the hats.

I actually have all the sniper/spy items now. I found all of the spy items in one game right after I got done unlocking them lol.

I found like 3 of those useless razor backs, and I found lots of huntsmans too. I got all the spy achievement milestones very easy, the sniper ones took me a bit longer, but maybe I am getting better at the game.

Sniper/Spy were probably my 2 worst classes and now they are my best. I still stuck with the soldier probably.

I'll have to start a trade thread when they open that feature so we can donate our duplicate items to those that need them, hopefully somebody has some duplicate hats to share

 

looks like my hats will have more value to them now if people cant just spectate and get them.

 

Value to the owner maybe but really good for nothing else, what would you trade for? Nothing currently though they say there will be more rare items like the hats that will be drop only down the road.

I would assume cosmetic only, people would be upset if actual items are rare drop only.

I wonder what character is going to get the next update, I cant wait as they have all been really good IMO. Im really digging the Spy update stuff. I use both ambassador & cloak & dagger as my normal kit now. though sometimes the regular invisible watch is better.

I am not a big fan of the dead ringer.

I am thinking of trying out the normal revolver now as I have on WAYYYY to many occasions hit somebody with a crit headshot from the ambassador only to have them live, even after a body shot or two, so I am thinking the faster rate of fire and higher body damage of the normal revolver may actually be better for me. I swear I always die in 1 hit from the ambassador when I am on the receiving end of it though, thats why I was so eager to get it.

 

I've gotten all the new items now due to the achievements except for the razorback, which I don't really care about. If/when they do set up a trading system, I'd be down to trade for the new scout bat, I don't have that yet.

 

I got that today as a find, it would be up for trade as I dont use scout, and I have razorbacks to spare.

Im sure its supposed to be a random system but it has not been to random for me, I found a lot more sniper stuff while playing the sniper (thus why I have like 3 bows & 3 razorbacks) but I didnt really find anything until I unlocked it first.

Now that I started playing spy, its just the opposite, I find lots of spy stuff, got like 3 dead ringers now, and 2 cloak & daggers. Still only 1 ambassador though.

I guess your backpack can get full, so now that I unlocked that stuff via achievement I guess I can toss it safely if I need space.

 

Yea for some reason I've gotten lots of Nataschas, Sandviches, and Bows. Other than the bow, I had to get the rest of the spy/sniper items via achievements, which I did not farm. Farming achievements is no fun IMO. I did it for the medic update, and I regret it.

 

I farmed for Pyro because I never play the game and didnt have time to get them, but I only got like 8 of them lol.

I got the spy achievements rather easy, I did get some of them on a "fun" server I would call it. Its a match that never ends like Arena but w/ respawns and there is very low gravity. Stage is called Cyberpunk, I go there when I want to just play around.

Good huntsman stage too since arrows fly all the way across the stage, I dont think the stage itself is setup for low grav I think the server owner did it.

I searched for it tongiht at work and couldnt find it, but its in my history on my desktop.

Also I have no idea why but I can not for the life of me get any server on my favorites list. I have tried 2 or 3 different ways, everything short of typing the IP address in and my favorite server list is still blank.

Importing sprays doesnt work too well ether, only got 2 of them to work, the rest I had to manually move to the folder. Of all of them some of them dont even work.

 

i would trade a few of my dupe hats for the demo hat.

Sounds like they went to fix an error or maybe traced people that got them for sitting idle for a long time.

Considering I have managed to find time to play every day and not got one yet, I imagine most people that have like 10 of them got them illegitimately.

 

yeah i got all my hats in one server so it was an error but i never sat idle in a server to get a hat. i got all my hats with the "error" so why take all but one?

 

Maybe you got that hat legit and then it triggered the errors.

 

the first hat i got was the heavy helmet. soldiers stash was one of the last hats i got.

 

Well guess they dont know which was the first, you can trade it for the one you want soon I am sure.
