Oh yeah definitely. The orange box games all have the basic same sytem recs. If you can play half life 2 well then you will have no problem at all. The 1900 is a good card.

Seperate threads would be better, because of amount of pictures and stuff. WE could have a thread that posts review links or something.

You reminded me,that I will start a TF2 NBR community. I will add names to the list, and now your officially on my buddy list.
You search through steam ID sometimes it doesn't work so ask the person for their login name.

 

I want to play TF2 more than anything, but my University has blocked all the Half Life multiplayer ports. That includes CSS sigh.

I have preloaded EP2 and Portal tho, can't wait for Wednesday.

Have you tried using Hamachi? It emulates gaming via LAN but you're actually playing on the internet. In other words, to play online, you select the LAN option in multiplayer.

By the way, you forgot to mention that TF2 lacks a minimap (my biggest gripe with the game).

 

Well most TF2 maps are symmetrical - which means that what is on your side is mostly what is on their side. Except for like dustbowl and gravelpit (the ones where red defends and blue attacks)

 

Yeah the game usually points you to where you need to go and sorta tells you where you are. A minimap might have helped I suppose.

Ok Valve has confirmed that the Orange Box gift giving will begin on the games release so most likely thursday . I have a copy of half life 2 and I believe another member has his to give away. Legally your not allowed to sell those games guys so just letting you know.

If you want the game and don't have steam its free to install and you can get demos and watch trailers from Steam so its not a bad application to have.

Yes I did, I got to play a bit of Half-Life 2 at a friends house as well, but since I really only wanted Portals and Team Fortress 2, buying the Orange Box would save a lot of money AND get me half life 2 as well.

Good review! I'd really appreciate it if someone with a "gift" copy of HL2 and HL2 episode 1 would give them to me... I've never had the chance to play either, I saved money and went for the Counter Strike and Day of Defeat Source pack without the Half Life games, but I'd really love to check them out! Thats pretty generous giving away HL2, even if you cant use it. I don't have a steam copy but I have a copy...and i can't imagine HL2 online is much good? I do have DODS though on steam...

 

HL2 death match is fun, I've never played online but I remember about 2 years ago when it was new we played it all night and the next day at a LAN...

Eight hours left!!! I couldn't be more excited.

It makes me sad though, to think that Halo will always outsell Half Life, even though Half Life is MUCH better.

LoL yh. I just read the IGN review and i must admit Forerunner's was more entertaining.

 

I have no problems playing any of the games at 1680 x 1050, 2 aa, v-sync enabled all settings high. Your card is more powerful so it should run better for you.

Finished portal, good game. I will have portal review up I am thinking by tomorrow night. Half Life 2 Episode 2 I am figuring friday but thats a strech I'm going out of town with some friends friday. I'm thinking saturday night.

Sorry guys I would have it up earlier but my test is tomrrow and I haven't started studying. (yeah i know i played portal today but when I heard it was so short I just had to get it out of the way. Not doing the bonus maps/challenges yet lol or I would spend forever.

 

lol but the problem is that you have a desktop processor..wouldnt that affect it?

 

No not really only games that processor plays a heavy role is in games like supreme commander, and rts units that have may many units since the processor has to control the ai for all of them before the gpu can render them.

I was about to beat Portal yesterday night, but then I was all like, you know what, I'm going to save it for tonight and finish an advanced map too

 

Should not effect it at all really. The CPU won't even come close to bottle necking 8600 series cards. It really becomes an issue when you get into the 8800GTX line up.
