Question:
I'm testing games under Software & Hardware mode; but looking into the registry files, I have found 10 differents folders with _games.exe dword key included.
Is there any way to know which one of the folders is using by windows for my current session? Or do I need to add the dword key into each of these folders?
Or do you know any other tricks that would make the job easier for me.
Thanks -

@cronos77: same here! 10 folders or smth.. but I got no time to figure it out on my own atm

Crysis On The X3100 (Very Impressed)
OMG i can't believe i got this game almost to run at a playable framerate. Ive only done about Half the tweaks over at Tweakguide.com & look at the results, Much better than that crappy 2 FPS i saw earlier. Also the Demo Mission they gave you is pretty crappy seeing how its at night & you can't see much of the detail.
AVG 8-12 FPS My Goal 15-25 FPS
Settings:
800x600
All Low

^^ I have no idea how that guys arm got to be over his head like that, You tell me how that happen. Also the 2 black things on the left side is weird too. -
8-12fps almost playable, eh? What is the average frame rate when several enemies are on the screen shooting? I haven't played Crysis, how big do the battles get? I bet the frame rate drops considerable during the larger battles.
-
lol, I'd guess 1 FPS in fights, and crashes whenever there's an explosion.
-
it actually only drops to about 5 FPS when in Action scenes, but im going to install the Full Game tonight & report back with some better screens with action scenes & in Daytime, cuz the demo mission really sucks.
-
it doesn't crash at all even when Exploding stuff up & theres no reason why it should either.
-
Yes there is. Lots of games will crash when they the action gets so intense that the GPU cannot handle it. Explosions can cause this.
-
yup it does, and the arm over the head is also annoying -.-"
-
Yeah i can't stand it either, but it didn't do that the first time i installed the game though.
-
Well, in demanding games like Crysis, turning off FRAPS will help a lot. I know with Halo benchmarking, taking a screenshot dropped frames from 52 to 49 for a brief moment. At least on the X3000 and XP, it doesn't crash at all with low settings. It crashes after couple of minutes with almost everything high, but then I just enable to see how gorgeous it looks lol! In high, not running FRAPS allows it to run much longer without a crash.

While comparing my friend's new TL-58 with the Go7150 and my laptop (see sig), Company of Heroes ran significantly better on mine, barring the horrible scrolling issues I have after patching it to version 2.00 and beyond. Unfortunately I have no benchmarks or screens to back this up at the time to compare the difference, but on the default 1v1 map, my laptop would run the game at 30+ FPS initially as compared to the mid teens for him. Looks like the x3100 has some potential to be a decent performer.
-
Deify88, the scrolling issue might have something to do with the game running in software mode. I checked the reg settings, and sure enough the team behind the drivers have set COH to run in SW mode by default. I tried to run it in HW but it froze on me.
Often times games will run faster in SW, but when you scroll or when lots of special effects are being used the game will take a bigger hit in SW mode than HW. COH use to work much better for me before the latest patch as well. -
PES will choke, it chokes even on dedicated graphics chip and Turion X2. So no-one has tried FIFA Manager 2008? What about any of the AoE games?
-
What do you mean by "will choke"?
And btw, check this out guys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNKn5N9NtqY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kw9I1TiQnHs -
^umm... still a pretty low framerate. It's very difficult to get a framerate high enough for CoD4 multiplayer with this card. 25- is not nearly enough for 32 man servers, with bullets flying everywhere.
-
Those videos are total bs, Call Of Duty 4 does not run that good especially on that Multiplayer map they was at, The X3100 doesn't handle smoke very well at all & that map is filled with smoke. I tweaked the living hell out of call of duty 4 & i get about 20-25 FPS on that map, & NFS Pro Street crashes when starting a race for me so i don't see how they got that to work & at a smooth Framerate too.
-
I'll second that, the game runs terrible as soon as smoke is rendered. UnReal, can you post the latest version of your sp/mp config for CoD4? I really want to enjoy this game on my laptop while I don't have access to my desktop.
-
ok here:
i also put an autoexe there which made the game run even better, but yeah with theses config's you should be getting some awesome FPS. Also make sure to change my name to ur profile name in the Config & Config MP -
Well on XP CoD4 tends to run worse than Vista so that compounds the problem.
-
When I say choke I mean it will struggle, in other words run at very low FPS.
-
This has probably been mentioned but your T2310 is a Core 2 Duo Merom chip...just running at 533 bus and 1 MB cache. It's a good chip especially for the money.
Sorry, this was from many posts ago.
BTW, I have the T2310, 2 GB ram and the X3100 and so far the scores have been higher than my previous system with the TK-53 and nVidia Go6150...
Nice lap top for $450..... -
yeah thats what i was sayin its an awesome laptop for the price, but i got my when it was on sale for $399 not $450 hehe
-
Is the X3100 graphics chip listed anywhere on the computer? All I see is "Intel 965 Chipset series"......no mention of the X3100 in the notes or anything.
-
The 965 Chipset includes the X3100 I beleive.
-
GM965 include the x3100.
-
I assumed that I have is (says it on the bill of sale) but there is NO mention of it anywhere in the hardware or graphics properties. However, according to the Vista gaming score, it was 2.4 for the Go6150 and 3.3 for the X3100 that I have now...big jump.
-
hey!
Looking for some advice here, running Vista 32-bit with x3100 (ver 15.7 drivers) and must say i am quite surprised with performance on games like COD2, CS:S, Wolf:ET and GTA:VC. Obviously COD4 runs like stink but i was on a tight budget when getting the laptop and could not afford dedicated card.
The question is.......would i achieve better frames in these particular games if i were to dual-boot Vista with XP and game in XP? (specs in footnote)
any help appreciated! -
heres the specs for post above
-
new drivers out! (at least for XP: 14.32.3)
-
Interesting. Any notable changes?
-
hmm...lil increase in fps..
-
Doom 3 With new & old drivers
Doom 3 is an OpenGL games; Quake 4 suffer also from a decrease in FPS.(at least for me). As you can see, in Doom 3, the decrease is from 25% to 60%.
Old Drivers: 14.31.1
New Drivers: 14.32.3
-
i still don't understand how ur getting it to run that good. the new drivers seem to fix the stuttering & skipping, but it still slows down like crazy every like 5 to 10 seconds when entering a room or just turning around.
Can you upp your config settings so i can see if it runs better for me? -
Unreal, it's possible your CPU is holding you back. Note that cronos' CPU is a C2D while yours is a Pentium. Two totally different classes. To add onto that, your CPU clock is 200MHz less than his.

can i play pes2008 with my Toshiba Satellite L45-S7423 (1.46GHz Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2310 1GB DDR2 120GB GPU/VPU Intel GMA X3100

There is some kind of light, in a few room that can make the fps go as low as 10 but on avg it's between 20-35.
Tell me if you see an improvement. -
Once again to make things clear, the T2310 is a Core 2 Duo clocked at 533 Bus and 1 MB cache. It ain't the processor. There are many more factors...Motherboard, bios, drivers, background programs, etc.
The T2310 is a Core 2 Duo with lower bus/1 MB cache...It's Merom through and through and it's not a Yonah which is basically 2-Pentium chips slapped together...believe me. It's a FAST and efficient processor....especially for the $$$$.... -
thanks for explaining that once again.
Edit: @ cronos77 yeah it ran a little better, but still slows down like crazy in places that it shouldn't slow down at all like in a hallway where there was like no lighting or detail, which is weird. & also tells me that it has nothing to do with the lighting or detail cuz it runs awesome in alot of other areas with heavy lighting & Detail, its somethin else, but it really sucks though -
@Unreal
that's strange.... Did you run it, with the new or the old drivers? -
the new drivers, but it didn't make any difference with the new ones or old ones in performance on Doom 3
-
@ UnReaL596
thanks for those COD4 cfg's, i also have T2310 and x3100 and the cfg's you upp'd earlier in this thread worked a treat (though i did have to start singleplayer again lol).
Also thanks to mikelets456 for giving me faith in T2310, which has been getting slated in other forums. -
I'm looking at both of your settings and the systems are real close. "unreal" do you think the additional 512 MB of ram would make the difference that "cronos" is getting?
What are your video settings in the bios? Wonder if it changed with the new drivers? Also, sometimes HD bottlenecking or motherboard efficiency could make the difference.
I'll have to try this on my system tonight because it's very similar to yours.
Who's dissing the T2310? I think they see the word "dual core" and immediately assume "Pentium". Funny thing is there was a test on the internet and the T2310 ran about the same as the T5XXX series Core 2 Duo 1.5 Ghz in all tests. I have to find that link again and post it. -
i really don't think its gunna make much of a difference. atleast for old games but with UT3, Cod4 & R6 Vegas i might see a difference
-
well it seems for me there are next to none post on this question,
is it better off to switch to Xp on a Vista default laptop for better gaming and performance. My laptop specs are DV6500 Core 2 duo T5240, 160GB 5400RPM, X3100, 2GB in dual channel ddr 2 667, and which driver would be best to use with XP. Currently my counter stike 1.6 performance suck (avg 25-40 fps) and its the only game I play. -
Counerstrike gets much higher performance in directx 8.1 mode, and XP has much better support for directx 8. However, if you are getting 25-40fps, whats the problem? As long as its a stable frame rate around 30 fps, I dont think its worth dumping vista for XP.
-
there is a few post on this thread stating that the FPS increase with windows xp drivers for the x3100 over vista had more problems. How do I determine my driver version? this ti what it says in my gfx control panel information.
Driver Version: 7.14.10.1364
do I have 14.10 version? or 1364?
and what version do you guys think I should use -
Sorry guys I wasn't trying to diss out the T2310... I'm not very knowledgable with notebook CPUs. Well thanks for teaching me some new stuff.
-
LOL. I got E6600 but get 8-10 fps in 640x480 Low in Doom 3 Demo. Granted, it could be because its the demo. I know its the problem of bad OpenGL drivers because putting it to higher detail doesn't really impact performance. That's with the X3000. Cronos is getting really good. Is the X3100 somewhat different architecturally or something?? Intel mentioned something about G965(GMA X3000) not good in performance for DX10 that's why it has no support(funny I know, but maybe there's some differences??).
In hardware, getting 10 fps, CPU doesn't matter at all(unless you have something like Pentium II 300 but the chipset doesn't support it
).
