    Hi,

I'm not positive, haven't used my laptop in quite some time but they are from the 80 series, I think 80.40....I will have to check later. So far they give me better performance then anything else.

I won't be able to check for a day or two, as I haven't got my laptop. But I'm almost positive it's 80.40 :)

Hi there... Please tell me how does cards like Go7400 compares to integrated GPUs in terms of battery life? I'd prefer to have a card to play a little but battery life is very importand to me (I'm travelling by train about 4 hours about 2 per 2 weeks).

Could you name me some notebook with Go7400/X1400 and such battery life (circa 4 hours).

Thanks in advance and best wishes.

I beleive your battery life would depend on many other things/setting rather then just GPU (screen, HDD and such). I have my GPU at performance settings when on battery and I averge about ~1.5 hours or less with 6 sell battery when gaming. Perhaps you could squize a bit more if you dim the screen but I doubt you can get a big jump with that. Perhaps installing some power management tools could yeld better results. Try searching this forum for what tools are better for your system.

I haven't tried any new drivers in a long time though. The 80.40 were giving me best performance but to be honest I haven't tried the last few releases...

hi everyone my dv5000 finally arrived and i found two unexpected things!
first my go 7400 has 512mb dedicated! no turbocache and crap... and second it came with forceware drivers and i updated them to the 84.63 from nvidia's page and they do support go 7 series so i wont try the laptotvideo2go ill stick to these ones... i though there weren't any official forceware drivers for go series...

No Go7400 has more than 128MB of memory; what you're seeing is the total video memory, dedicated + that shared by TurboCache.

Don't worry, there wouldn't be any difference between a 128MB dedicated and 512MB dedicated Go7400 (which doesn't exist).

Not an awful lot with the Go7400, although somebody did overclock their's on another thread and went from about 700 to 900 3dMarks, almost 30% increase! Although I don't think this is normal, usually the difference isn't so big....at least not from what I've seen, but to be honest I've not really tried overclocking mine much, as it gets hot enough when at stock in my laptop...

Are you running Vista? Vista uses its own memory sharing scheme. My desktop has a 7900GT with 256 dedicated, Vista reports it as 751.

Does anyone know if the 7400 go can handle CS:S in DX7 1280*800 and get a constant 100 fps?

I doubt you could get a 'constant' 100 FPS, but it can reach 100fps in places (I tried Day of Defeat Source, not CS, but not much difference)

Most laptops have a 60Hz display so getting 100FPS is pointless. 60FPS is the most that screen can display. You'll want to cap it at 60FPS, otherwise you will get image tearing.

Hi there im new to these forums so sorry if this is very clear cause it seems like it, im getting a dell 6400/e1505 t7200 duo core 2, with 2gig ddr2 533mhz, and the ati x1400.

I know this is ati's competitor to the go7400, but would i get better or worse quality than this??? ill be playing alot of sims 2 so im sure ill be able to max out all the settings on that game and still get at least 60fps right??

Yeah they are practically similar, the differences are not worth worrying about. Sims 2 will run fine, it's not a hugely demanding game.

I tried it and the NV7400 can play Stalker on high-max detail level as long as you use static lighting. The result is 30-40fps. If you turn on dynamic lighting it gets ugly though.

It should run both games fine. You may need to turn down some settings on Age of Empires to low-mid to be able to get 30+ FPS out of this card.

Would it perform much better than my geforce 5200 fx 128mb on this desktop? With this thing it only lags with high quality shadows (never tested fps though).

I haven't tried, but the only reason I haven't is that it's barely playable on my desktop PC with the following specs:

    AMD X2 4400+
    2 GB RAM
    Nvidia Geforce 7800

Going down to 800x600 on like low-medium detail barely gets FPS to around playable levels. R6: Vegas is poorly optimized for the PC. Even if you crank up the settings, it doesn't look anywhere as good as what the X360 offers. It's disgusting.

I play it on my dv6000t and get fine FPS. I play it on medium settings with static lighting. I am also using Vista, but I'm unsure that the patch addresses an increase in FPS, I think it's just to stabilize it. That said, it's been very stable for me thus far. I'll try and post screens when I get home.

I'm a bit underwhelmed by the graphics of STALKER. I've been playing FEAR for a while and moving to STALKER really makes me notice how good the animation was in FEAR. When a soldier in FEAR was doing a barrel roll over a crate to get away from me, it looked really smooth. In STALKER it seems like the bad guys hesitate a little while they try and figure out the best path to take.

The large outdoor environments are certainly much better than the repetitive grey walls of FEAR. Playing it reminded me of being at work.

Also, has anyone noticed the way the NPCs in STALKER just kind of flap their gums when they talk? The other stalkers look like the muppet Grover when they're speaking.

Ok, so a little off topic there, but I tend to ramble...

These aren't the greatest shots but what the heck, I was just randomly taking pictures. This is FSX, for those of you not familiar and most of the setting are on med-high with aircraft detail on High with the resolution set to 1280 x 800. I was using the 165.01 driver, which is very good performance and quality wise but it cause BSoD in FSX so I have since uninstalled it which is why I can not take more(better) pictures at these higher settings.

Now let's see how this card handles the game under DirectX 9 on Vista ... :D
Same exact video settings, except this time I chose DirectX 9 as renderer.
Do note the fact that COD2 won't even run if you don't choose "Windows XP SP2" Compatibility...

Sweet looking graphics, but ultra low frame rate ...

    Greetings, Trees...

wait, how did I kill that guy at 9 frame per second?

    Wow, that lighting is super...

    Conclusion:
Although COD2 runs perfectly under DirectX 7, even with everything sets to max and you can get relative good frame rate both in single and multilayer mode. But it has incompatibility issue with Vista, little tweaking should give you some good frame rate even under DirectX 9, such as lowering your video resolution, set texture quality to medium or low.

    Moving on folks. Now,
Empire Earth II + Expansion Set

Although this game isn't quite as good as the first one (IMOP), but anyway, enjoy.

Notice every setting is set to maximum. :D
    [IMG]

Too bad no wide-screen support, everything looks squeezed ...

    Tanks ...

    Really nice looking water ...

I mean look that gorgeous water ...

And the card just craps out when too many stuff going on ...

    Conclusion:
The Go 7400 handles Empire Earth II pretty well, expect very smooth gameplay when not so many units are on screen at the same time. If you like to build tons of units and watch them fight 'til their death, I suggest you lower video settings, especially disabling the advanced effects, shadows and the "picture-in-picture" feature. And also update to the latest version 1.3 as it contains mouse lagging issue fixes and frame rate boost.

    Heroes of the Pacific

A world war II arcade style flight game, it feels more like a first person shooting game. No joystick is necssary.
Too bad, I can't seem to get the game to set at 1280X800, it will only display in 800X600 no matter which resolution I choose. Weird problem..

    Every effect is enabled...

No, you can't shoot there ...

At 30+ frames per second (could be higher, seems like frame rate limiter might be the problem), this fighter game is very playable and very smooth. Explosions and smokes might stutter the game little bit but no major hit to the frame rate.

    Need For Speed: Most Wanted

My favorite arcade style racing game, although a 2004~2005ish game, the graphic still looks quite good.

Try stay away from advanced effects, like shadows and reflection effects ...

    Overbright effect sure is over-too-bright

Cop, man! Run! (really sharp texture)

    Oopss...

Really like that car reflection ...

    Again, over-too-bright ...

    I'm flying high ...

    glad that's over...

    Conclusion:
Advance shadow definitely slows down your frame rate, it's a major hit to the frame rate. Try turn it off or to low. Other than that, this game runs pretty well, even around 20~30 FPS.
Again, this game has no wide-screen support, so your car will look squeezed in game. Although there's a mod called "Custom Resolution", which allows you to set whatever resolution you wish, I tried to set it to 1280X800, but the game runs really slow...

    Need For Speed: Carbon

Well, a 2006 game. Runs pretty bad under Vista, it crashes, it freezes ... performance is really bad ...

Settings, "Shader" effect definitely plays an important role in your frame rate and also on graphics. If you turn it off, the games looks really bad visually, no realistic head light effect... at "Medium", it looks pretty decent.

800x600 resolution might not be very comfortable for a racing game, but it will do ...

    Just love that headlight ...

    Cool, but low frame rate...

    Again, I'm the last one...

    Really blurry and fuzzy textures...

    Conclusion:
As you can see, this game runs pretty bad compared to Most Wanted. Don't know if it's the Vista issue or Go 7400 just doesn't cut it. Either way, if you must play this game on Vista, you are on your own. BTW, the new 1.4 patch is out, which fixes Vista incompatibility issue, tried install it but with no success. I give up.
NFS Carbon overall isn't as good as Most Wanted, seems to me this game was rushed ...
