The Sims 2 + Expansion Sets
Everyone's favorite game... (not really)
The Sims 2 runs pretty well on Vista, consider it's a 2003~2004ish game. However you will see a little performance hit if you run the new expansion sets, like the "Seasons" etc....
Settings, everything is high ....
![]()
Oh yeah, this is the "Seasons" expansion set, sorry, didn't catch the snow...
![]()
Small family, low income, high frame rate...
![]()
I've got to let my Sims wear pants ...![]()
![]()
Can you believe that car costs 300 sim dollars?
![]()
Conclusion:
Overall, The Sims 2 + Expansion Sets run really well on my laptop. If you want more frame rate, try limit the amount of Sims on one screen, try play on small lots/houses. They will definitely help the performance.

Resident Evil 4 PC
RANTING STARTS:
Ok, I have to admit it, the PC port of Resident Evil 4 sucks... really.
First of all, it doesn't even support Mouse and Keyboard play, which definitely not cool. And the controls and camera are just lousy, looks like they just rushed through the production... not worth it.
RANTING ENDS.
Interesting that Resident Evil 4 doesn't have video settings, other than the resolution setting and keyboard mapping. (set at 1280X800)
Texture looks nice from far away...if you come closer, it's really blurry...
Oh by the way, Ashley is really annoying, can't you just climb down the ladder yourself?!
Smoky...
Oh no! Stomach acid, shake it off man....
Spooky...
Oh crap, now I have to fight this?
If they get you, you are dead...
Conclusion:
Well, there you have it. It runs at around 15~25 FPS at most the time regardless if you are outside or inside. And there's really nothing you can do, since there's no video settings, however you could just lower your game resolution to 800x600 to gain some performance boost.
TIPS:
Definitely wanna update the game to the latest version, as it provides many bug fixes and performance boost.
If you must play with the mouse, go ahead and try the "Mouse Aim" mod, which allows you use the mouse to aim, however the end result is really bad, as it's simply just a gamepad emulator, the sensitivity is really hard to control and getting used to it.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
TomTom, the specs on your dv6000t are some-what similar to mine, what did you get for the Windows Vista "Windows Experience Score"?
-
a low 3.3 ... ha ha ....

Woo
Have a image?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
Yep, everyone's been talking about it. And there you have it.
Almost all setting is set to maximum... however with "Static Lighting" (DirectX 8)....
Flashlight doesn't cast shadows under Static Lighting (DirectX 8), don't know if it will under DirectX 9...
The textures are looking pretty sharp...
Pretty realistic looking fire and lighting...
Huge environment... no cars?
Handgun/pistol
Powerful machine gun...
Useless handgun...
Dead ... Game Over, man, Game Over...
Conclusion:
Surprisingly, STALKER runs pretty well on Go 7400, if run it under Static Lighting (of course). However you will experience occasional stutter as you enter from one small area to the next... however no big deal...
Try to set the "Grass Density" to medium or low, you don't really need that many vegetations...
Do not let NPCs use their flashlights, as they will slow down your system dramatically especially when 3 or more on one screen...
If you really like vehicles in the game, go download the vehicle mod it's really simple and nice. It's weird that the vehicles were originally planned for the game, they somehow dropped during the final production, now I have to walk about 10 minutes in real world time to get my rewards ... not cool.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
Go back to Page 10, I believe I posted it there..
-----
You guys really should have brought this topic up earlier, I had several more games installed and now they are gone, I really don't feel like installing them again. Maybe I will, anyway, more screenshots to come.... keep this thread alive folks! -
Please try counter strike source with net_graph 3 in your console ;P

Orbiter Edition 2006-P1 Build 060929
Not much of a space flight simulator fan, but the freeware "Orbiter" sure sounds pretty sweet. For more info: http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/orbit.html
All effects are enabled, video settings are at maximum, run at 1280X800X32.
Also downloaded and used the "high-resolution extension" planets textures, as shown in the screenshots.

Added Rainbow Six Vegas and Red Orchestra.

Hey no problem, keep it up guys!
Expect more screenshots in the future... -
Hi. As you can see I'm new BUT I've been skimming through this topic for quite some time now.
I too have a HP dv6000t with a Go7400, and my specs are almost the same as TomTom's(except for I have 1.5GB of RAM and a 1.73 duo core). I'm running Vista 32bit, and I would like to know which drivers work well with Battlefield 2. I've tried the drivers from HP and they were horrid.. Everything I played from Guild Wars and Half Life ran horribly. I tried modded drivers, and I noticed a signifigant boost. HL2 and Guild Wars both run above 60fps on high settings (1024x640 rez). But now I'm having issues with BF2's textures..
I've had success running the game, and gladly no issues with Punkbuster. But I get really weird flickering issues. The foiliage doesn't show up correctly and flickers, sometimes the trees, and with anisotropic filtering on even near by textures are blurry.
Please help, I'm not looking to run the game on max. Just medium without these crazy texture issues. -
Don't turn on AF or AA with a Go7400
Anyway - I used to get some wierd texture issues with some drivers, namely the foliage would turn white, or sometimes, the entire ground. Going back to older drivers solved it. I'm still using drivers from the early 80 series, but I haven't tried any new ones in ages as my laptop doesn't get much use. (not for gaming anyway) -
AF and AA works fine with anything I play but BF2
But yeah it's mainly the foliage issue thats bothering me
.
So umm are you using XP or Vista
? If it doesn't drop my performance with other games, I'll downgrade my drivers.
-
Here are the CNC3 Screenshots for my comp. Most of the settings are on medium, resolution 1024X768. I noticed that regardless of settings, the frame
rates stay somewhat the same, yet if set too high, the game itself will slow down, making a 15 minute game take 30 or more. So medium keeps everything running quickly. Even on medium, the game is beautiful:
Unfortunately, I also get this:
Usually after around 15 minutes of play, the game will crash with this error. The system requirements lab
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
says that laptop video cards may work but are not supported with this game. So, I am talking with EA tech support and trying to find out what is causing
this. From what I can tell this problem is pretty common. So just be aware that this may happen as well. Anybody else experienced this?
EDIT: Okay, thanks to TomTom's suggestion, I downloaded fraps and got some fps info. First, I played around with the settings to where it looks the best visually without slowing the game significantly. (A structure that should be built in 15 seconds will be built in about 17 real time)
With this, the game itself dosen't slow down that much, yet fps does go down a little. Lower fps on this game dosen't usually matter too much (at least for me), as you are not required to spin the camera around quickly or react to something like in shooters. It is sure looks pretty... On these settings, the game will run at about 25-30 when not much is going on, about 20-25 when in light to medium battles, 15-20 when in heavy fights, and if you are somehow getting in a brawl as extensive as the second picture (That was not me playing, it was two brutal AIs, I would expect regular players to never get in that big a fight) things will slow to about 9-14.
The Direct3d error is still occuring as well. If anybody has this game on a 7400 and it does not crash, let me know what comp, drivers, etc. you are using, I would be most interested. -
i also experienced that problem as well. Keep me informed LosingSanity about what is causing it.

Can I put out a request for more Oblivion screenies? The ones on the front page are "no longer available."

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
My favorite RPG/First, Third Person Shooter/Fighting game...
Published in 2004 and used Valve's famous Source Engine (Same one used in Half-Life 2). Though a little bit outdated game, but it installed perfectly on Vista. No crashes, no freezes, it just runs perfectly!
Settings - Everything is at maximum, highest resolution at 1024X768X32 (Sorry, no wide-screen support), bump mapping enabled, soft shadowing, etc...
Unique dialogue response system, you control your final fate ...

Conclusion:
Well, as you can see from the screenshots, this game runs really well on Go 7400 with Vista with everything sets at max and every single effect enabled. As I've mentioned before, no crashes, no freezes during gameplay. Although I experienced a sudden drop in the frame rate at the beach (around 15~20), but nothing serious. Can't run the game in wide-screen aspect ratio, but it looks still pretty good even though everything is squeezed.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Nice set! Added to my main page: Halo 2
-
oh man, can't believe Halo 2 runs like crap on Go 7400, seriously disappointed...sigh... Don't know if 2GB of RAM will do any good.
If nobody will post Oblivion screenshots, then I will probably do it. -
This is a good idea
-
LOL
Of course it's a good idea...lol -
*nudge nudge*
There's no rush; take your time...
-
Installing Oblivion right now, so...yeah....probably have to wait for another hour or so...
Funny thing, I've never actually finished this game before, so bear with me. -
Why thanks for going through all that just for me
I'll be sure to rep. -
Hey thanks, well, actually I'm going to do Oblivion anyway, sooner or later, but anyway... cheers!
Probably going to do Age of Empires III, FSX, Prey, Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Quake 4, etc later... I will take requests along the way (if I have the game). And yes, I'm running out of hard-drive space... lol
-
I actually want to get an idea of how well Oblivion will run on an 8400 GS, so yeah. *clinks beer*
I'd be interested in Quake 4 and Quake Wars (is that what its called?) on it too...
-
I've already done QIV and the source engine games on the 7400, they're on the main page!
And someone else also did Oblivion on the first page....
As for Ram, having at least 1.5Gb would definitely help. As it is, I only have 804mb free system memory after TC usage so thats probably a minor bottleneck on certain titles I test. -
Fail. Go look at the first page yourself

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
This is only a simple preview, as I'm still struggling on tweaking and adjusting the game settings and game .ini files in order to have a nice balance between performance and visual. Therefore I will not include any test run comments right now.
(Heck, I'm still trying to pass the first level.....)
More info and screenshots will be coming soon....

Update:
Ok folks, after couple weeks of experimenting and tweaking Oblivion on my laptop, I can now say that Oblivion is finally playable...
Main difference from previous attempts:
I installed the modded driver for Go 7400, thus gave me more resolution (wide-screen) options for Oblivion, screenshots taken above were 1280X800, and now I can change to 1024X640, which is still a wide-screen resolution, and the difference in frame rate is huge...
I also changed some values in the Oblivion.ini configuration file, for even more frame rate, like adding more space between grasses, adding Dual-Core CPU support, etc.....
The new settings...

Inside the city of Skingrad...

Inside someone's house at night... the door was not locked...

Chapel of Skingrad, note the lighting has effect on frame rate...

Meet Sister Palielle...

Lousy weather at Anvil at night...

Anvil docks at night...

Beautiful morning at Anvil docks, the rain has finally stopped...

Anvil Castle by water side, nice water ripple effect...

I love caves and ruined forts, lots loots, lots frame rates...

Sneaking is good...

Somewhere near Anvil, discovering some old ruined fort...note the grass distance between each other, whole mountain looks, well, bald...

Bam...an Oblivion gate...

Inside of Oblivion world...

Near the tower...

That dude is on fire, man....

Leave you a night scene near Imperial City...too bad didn't catch a full moon...

Conclusion:
Well, tweaking Oblivion is hard, really hard...but it has finally paid off with some nice frame rate.
The screenshots were taken from different general locations on purpose, from city to the wilderness, from inside of a house to the creepy Oblivion world, the frame rates were ranging from really lousy to really good.
Weather, lighting, amount of on-screen characters, grass and trees all have significant effects on frame rate.
In the wilderness: 10~25 FPS
Inside of houses/castles: 20~50 FPS
Inside caves/forts: 25~60 FPS
Inside cities:25~35
Frame rates are all over the place, it's best you tweak your Oblivion.ini configuration file to suit your needs.
I have complied a tweaking guide for your pleasure. They are various stuff from the internet, you can find more if you do a search.
Good Luck!Attached Files:

Oh, I don't like the FPS on that...
Thanks anyway! -
Overclocked my 7400 to 550/900 and scored 2450 in 3dmark05 i could go further but its getting too scary !
-
For everyone with the 7400, try installing oldblivion. It's a free mod that lets oblivion run better on weaker/older cards. http://www.oldblivion.com/
-
It's there, just at the moment whatever server the images are hosted on is not working....you can still see the 'Oblivion' and 'Battlefield 2142' headings...
-
Well... I don't consider myself picky, but I'm more interested in the actual pictures then the headers.
I actually did a google search for 7600 and oblivion - something like that anyway - and it returned a cached version of the page. I could even see a tiny thumbnail of the oblivion pics, but I couldn't make them bigger because they don't exist anymore.
Just thought I'd share
-
Use tools like Riva Tuner to track your temp.
I overclocked my 7400 to 594/837; The highest I can clock it to w/o artifacts is 605/850. It gets up to 50 c, which isn't bad. But I have a fan next to it, keeping it at a cool 40 c.
Just keep track of your temp, and look for artifacts while playing games. If you notice any artifacts, lower your clocked settings. -

All in all, Half Life 2 runs extremely well on the Go7400. The game tries certain visual effects like the blurry transparent glass in the windows, and the glossy floors, which bring the FPS down further than normal. But the game is highly HIGHLY playable. You'll seldomly see less than 40fps on these settings, and less than 30 fps is extremely rare. -
If the resolution was dropped to 1024x640 I could see the Oblivion running atleast 15 frames better on avg.
But the drivers TomTom is using won't allow 1024x640 I believe. I hate the drivers HP recommends for the Go7400 in their laptops..
I use a modded form of ForceWare 158.42 from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com, and I've noticed a major performance increase and more resolution options. -
added: Hitman Blood Money
-
thanks a lot Havoc, i really appreciate it. my doubts on whether or not hitman will run on my x1400 have been squelched.

As you can see, Guild Wars runs EXTREMELY well. While playing on the original Guild Wars continent, it's rare to see framerates under 60fps. When it comes to Nightfall, the game runs at 40-60 fps. The framerate drops to the 40's during combat while over a lake or any other body of water due to reflections. -
very pls Colin DIRT

I'll do Dirt tomorrow, no time today. Should run, seeing as even the 7100 is supported....
