should i bother even dl the client right now on my laptop after hearing about the graphics?

Yeah, definitely download it. You'll get a good framerate at all medium. Did you already buy an early access account? The X3100 is an integrated card, which is integrated into the motherboard and shares resources with the GPU to render graphics. The 3650 is discrete and will literally be 30-40+ times faster than something like the X3100, so you'll run Age of Conan just fine.

Here's something notable for anyone with a NVIDIA video card: NVIDIA has just released new drivers that are optimized for the Age of Conan retail client and should show a nice improvement in performance! These drivers are recommended by AoC's devs on the AoC forum and show some huge performance gains, stuttering/choppiness/tearing are fixed, and the game doesn't crash anymore (as quoted by other users and the devs themselves). All of this is in the beta client, so you'll expect even better results with the retail copy.
Download it here:

yes i have an early access account but the dumb site keeps declining my credit card when i have a 0 balance on it and have all the info correct, any fix?
-
These official drivers are not compatible with mobile cards I believe... have to get the one with modded inf from lv2g right? I just tried to dowload them for my 8800m gtx. Won't work. -
Right click -> extract-> edit nv4_disp.inf-> add your 8800M GTX in supported devices & on the device names.
You just have to know the 8800M GTX's codename. You can just copy the 2 lines from a lv2g inf and add them. -

That one might be the beta driver, which might be a bit buggy. Unless it was released May 13 or later, then it's probably the retail driver.
-
how do ati drivers work, is it just like catalyst X.X? arent there driver numbers like nvidia does? like the latest is catalyst 8.4...does every ati card then just download this for a driver? I wish i had batter drivers...

Necromancers.... their self-buffed PET would eat three even-levels of any class that couldn't CC them for breakfast at one point... necros went AFK with their pet in combat mode and gained XP in a hurry.
Warriors being so massively underpowered at one point that they might as well not exist... then they get /defensive and quite literally the pendulum swings... and the tank-hybrids are still paying 140% XP while being about as much of a tank as an enchanter in raids...
Complete heal... what a boondoggle... one mid-level spell broke the whole game for a long time.
Spell resistances.. at one point casters might as well not exist... you measured your raid in rogue DPS... and it took 4 mages to equal one rogue.
Cleric... the only class you really needed all the time and the only class which no real person ever wanted to play... can you say BORING? I remember the class cross-server 1v1 tourney where two finalists tried to HEAL each other to death in protest.
Conan most certainly isn't for everyone... but let's not over-romanticize about the past. -
Still has my cake. -

Gotta love UO "PvP"
Woohoo! more 5 vs 1 archer/mage ambushes!
Thunk!
You are Dead
Someone is attacking you!
Gotta love PvP that doesn't last long enough for the client to actually show it to you. -

AoC will be the best MMORPG ever, if it's done right. EverQuest is decent, but Star Wars: Galaxies sucked hard (I've head it only has 10k subscribers left). At least wait until we get a chance to play AoC before you leave a comment that the game will be horrible for no good reason. Just my $.02...

Apparently a lot of people experienced memory leak problems during the Open Beta. Most of the problems were fixed in a patch, but I think this game is going to require more than 2.0GB of Ram. Will adding a 4GB Memory Stick in ReadyBoost boost my performance in game than? Which is the best stick to use? I heard that even Windows Vista 32-Bit can use as much memory from ReadyBoost as you can provide since it is not Physical Memory, is this true?
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
The game will run fine with 2GB, but 3GB-4GB will be better. ReadyBoost could lower speeds and isn't as fast as real RAM. Problems like memory leakage will be fixed in the retail client, Funcom didn't delay the game 3 or 4 times for nothing, they wanted a near perfect launch.
-
Most funny was someone yoinking a weapon out of your pack... (because you wouldn't notice someone making your load 30+ lbs lighter!) -
Conan runs in 2GB... but more memory is better.

MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Kernal, are you planning on playing AoC? BTW, guys, I'm installing the game client now (from the early access), I can't wait to finally play the game on May 17 at 1pm EST when the gates of Hyboria open for the limited number of people that've gotten into the early access! I've been hyped to play this game for more than a year.
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Alright, guys, I think we should choose an official server for NBR. What do you guys think about that? Funcom released the early access server list (with more available afterwards) today. Deathwhisper will be the official Age of Conan PVP server for NoteBookReview!
-
Yep.
I am not in the early access as I will be unavailable during that time to actually play. I will be playing as of release. -
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
What do you think of having an "official server" for NBR members? Like I said, Deathwhisper will be the official AoC server for NBR.
-
I know that 2GB will suffice, but when my computer should be running it on Medium to Max Settings and isn't due to memory leaks would ReadyBoost Help?
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
ReadyBoost won't really help. It could even make the game slower, it's not the same as real RAM. It was designed for people with less than 1GB of RAM, and I doubt you'll see any memory leaks on your rig anyway.

Funcom said that all of the servers, except the Oceanic ones, are located in NJ (where I live
). They said that there shouldn't be any problems with low ping rates for people on the west coast, so it'll be great for everyone, especially if you're on the East cost, or located in the same state, like I am. Plus the guilds planning to play on Deathwhisper seem better than the ones planning to be on the other servers which'll mean a better community. Just wanted to let you guys know...
-
ok so ill remember to join that server, my name will be Elirius....its this name in every mmorpg
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Alright, awesome. May 17 can't come soon enough... I'll post my char's info once I create it.
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Hopefully we won't need to group to get around without dying on the first day on a PVP server. It sucks that Funcom gives us the DX10 files, but they won't let us enable them in-game on the EA client, unless they change that with another patch.
-
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/487/1/
Interesting article for DX 10! Looks amazing. Makes me wonder if I should buy two 8700s or just stay with my 7950s. -
I see that Deathwhisper is a PvP server. Anyone planning on playing on a PvE server? I'm in the EST timezone.
-
Any European NBR users also getting AoC? Maybe we could also decide on a european server then if we are enough

I have a question for all of you who either played in beta or have the current client; I noticed that my gpu temperature raises pretty significantly while just being on the login screen, going from an idle of around 42-45c to 60c+ with my fans on and I'm not even doing anything. I have read random posts on the aoc forums of people saying their gpu temp was higher on the login screen than in game as well, and I'm hoping this is true as it seems unusually high. I know even macbook pros can play this game and I'm on a sager 5793, so it can't be my system.
Forgot to add, I fully expect in game temp to go over 60c obviously but I am more or less looking for confirmation that this login screen is supposed to be doing what it is for me, otherwise I might have to look at trying a different driver or something if in game starts climbing well over 70 and beyond -
Yes mine does as well harrynom, but how do you know it plays on macbook pros when the final release hasn't even been released?
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Probably from the beta client. 22 hours and 50 more minutes to go until the game officially launches for early access members!
-
Apparently Funcom has given Game Stop permission to sell the game today, but players still cannot play until the 20th unless you have early access.
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
I hope I can pick up my copy from BestBuy tomorrow, DX10 still isn't enabled in the EA client despite having the DX10 files in the AoC folder. At least Funcom has been constantly improving the game, there was around 300MB of new patches so far today.
-
yea i pre-ordered at bestbuy too, but i think they are holding it till the 20th
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
I'll try to call them later and see what they say. It doesn't really matter, though, we don't need the retail copy for another 10 days from tomorrow. I've heard from people that got the game early from GameStop that the disk says they already have the full game if they have the EA client installed, so the data's exactly the same I'm still waiting on a DX10 patch, which'll hopefully come by the time the EA starts.
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
This is pretty cool:
http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/33432
It's a video from Funcom's presentation of AoC at the launch party. -
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Funcom didn't forget about DirectX10! I've just read the latest patch finally enables DX10 in-game, just in time for early access! Only 13 hours and 41 minutes left until early access accounts can finally enter the world of Hyboria!
-
Is it 1pm est or 12pm est
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
1PM EST, but it could always be a few minutes earlier or later (probably earlier if anything, Funcom has been great so far with the AoC launch).
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Less than a hour to go for early access members! There's a few more patches today, I'll check if there's anything new or different in the settings.
-
With any luck, they throw the switch and the servers go live a little earlier than promised! Tired of looking at the loading screen!
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
I'll just browse a few forums and listen to music while I wait, it's only a half hour more. Check out GameTrailers, they have amazing videos and demonstrations of Age of Conan (in HD!) that'll really get you hyped to play!
