okay for the MBP users around here.. I have the intel core 2 duo 2.2 Ghz santa rosa 2 gb ram NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with 128MB SDRAM and it works perfectly! Everything on high is possible, I'm a little bit laggy if I use everything high... Medium is perfect (resolution=1400x900) and the game r0x!

Guys i read a couple of reviews of this game and it sounds amazing...
only thing is i dont know if my laptop would play it okay?
i would want to at least play it at 1280x800 medium settings to enjoy it.
Im using a dell 1520 with the following:
T7500 2.2 Core 2 Duo
3gig DDR2 667 Ram
8600GT 256mb (Clocked at 515/430)
Windows XP SP2
Anyone playing on similar? Could i run at 1280x800 medium and average 30fps? -
Double post sorry

I've been hearing talk about the demo running more smoothly than the full version. Is that true?

Difference between DX9 and DX10?

not a great deal. -
Wow, was wondering why the game was getting such great scores from all the review sites - until I bought it this afternoon... I came home with my friend and watched him play through four hours of it on Easy, then immediately restarted and did it my way on Medium - and had a blast.
The reviews don't seem to touch on how non-linear the gameplay is... I mean, I'm only about five hours through, and the game definitely does 'push' you to complete certain objectives first, but if you're happy just wandering around and exploring (or foraging, as I do) you can happily do the objectives out of order. There are SO many ways of combining your powers and weapons! It's so well designed.
I also like the way the NPC's wander around - this isn;t one of those games where you can happily clear out an entire area and have your safety guaranteed. Very impressive game.
Well, enough of my ranting (My girlfriend has commandeered the Xbox to play Harry Potter) I'm off to bed. One (Short) sleep until My Dell Vostro arrives, and one sleep until I can play Bioshock. -
Check out this review! Personally I like this review more than the reviews from Gamespot or IGN...

god mode for anyone
go to your bioshock folder and find the DefUser.ini file. find the function button and assign "god" after it.
ex. (F12=GOD) then when playing hit F12. hitting f12 toggles it on and off. you can assign it to any F button
played and confirmed it working -
Hi,
I am running Bioshock on my laptop on 1680x1050, everything on max settings.
Problem is it gets too laggy when there are multiple enemies on screen.
Is it normal? Any advice how to boost performance? What can I expect from the 7950 gtx with WSXGA+ res?
Shall I put settings to medium?
Shall I force global lighting?
Thanks in advance,
MateoTTR -
Lower your resolution. If you want to run bioshock on 1680x1050 you really need a desktop PC -
Or a patch or driver that actually makes it reasonably playable on high-end hardware...
Though Bioshock even with no enemies on screen, I can't get mine up to 1680x1050 without extreme stutter. -
Wow really?
2x 7950GTX SLI should be able to handle 1680x1050 seriously...
On my rig it is almost playable, but the shuttering when enemies pop up just makes me aim poorly.
Framerate is acceptable with no enemies on screen though (20-40fps).
Going down in res will look so bad because of image scaling. I would rather try mid settings first... -
I dont know if anybody else has this problem, but on my 1520 w/ Vista and medium settings, the game crashes every time it loads Fort Frolic. I can load the level by turning visuals and res to minimum, but it still crashes sometimes after that. Additionally, every time I hack a machine, it gets really slow and choppy.
Anyone else have this problem? Im running on DX9 mode, and all extra options turned off...
thanks in advance for any help -
I'm happy so far and hope to stay that way. -
For those who have an M1710 with a 7950GTX - what kind of settings are you playing at? I've tried playing on high settings at 1440x900 rez and I get some stuttering. Ive also oc'ed my gfx card to 600/700. I'd like to hear what kind of performance you guys are getting so I know if I'm pushing my card to the limits with the settings I currently play at.
Thanks! -
hrmm i run at at high settings on 1440x900 the fps can be kinda low (12 - 60)but it doesnt affect the game that bad. Only get stuttering rarely.
remember to switch off dynamic lighting. -
how do you check FPS?

I'd get BioShock, but the thing is, I'm scared I'm going to become mentally disturbed.
