    Thank you!

I was planning on asking the same thing soon. I'm glad to know that others have noticed the same pattern.

8.8 pounds for 17 incher is is quite light...my dv5t itself is almost 6 pounds... the envy isn't bad but would have been great if it had

    1. Optical drive.
    2. 1GB GDDR5 5830...

I would ahve loved the second. I can live without the ODD. For a 5 pound laptop, it is quite powerful and portable. But no match to a true gaming rig.

Hmmm, 8.8...wow...for what I am used to, it sounds very heavy. I've never had a laptop more than 6 pounds. (though the Envy far surpasses that with the extras such as the adapter, the ODD and the wireless mouse, and all those little extras it becomes heavy...

    LOL at both of you.

My Dv5t is about 6pounds + adapter is about 7... i got those normal laptop bag so its quite hard on shoulder... for Asus G73 , u get a bagpack which makes it much easier to lift it... and for me since , i carry about 10lbs of book each day , it should be a problem...

Well, I am a happy owner, and this laptop is nice. I'm pretty sure most people advertise the laptop they have or want...lol

    Ouch...many books...get an e-reader ;) lol

Well, backpacks are certainly easier to carry, but a messenger bag still beats it when traveling lol. (although not for riding a bike grrr)

ROFL, ahahahaha. MUAHAHAHAAHA. Stop... I can't stop laughing. Please... messenger bag is better for traveling? Oh please, I'm about to collapse from laughing so hard.

Oh btw, his 10 lbs of books aren't probably pleasure reading that you just get off Amazon... Think about it, 10 lbs of books. Who needs 10 lbs of books. And then ask yourself, do those books come in e-reader format?

Oh btw, on a school campus. The people who get their laptops stolen are the ones with messenger bags. They are much easier to pull off someone's shoulder and they are much easier to target as probably having a laptop. Backpacks, harder to take off and harder to tell if it's just a books, or if there is a laptop in there. Just saying, everyone I knew that was mugged and had their notebook stolen used a messenger type bag.

And school campus in the city are heaven for muggers. Lots of stupid students walking around with their MacBook and iPods, iPhones etc in easy to steal messenger bags (so they can look fashionable).

HAHA! Same here.. Didn't know what messenger bags meant but after seeing google.. HAHA! Bagpacks are way safer and more comfortable.. i'd get a bagpack anytime... way more comfy... and lighter when carrying same weight...

Idk what kind of weird cities you people live in, but over here people walk with Macbooks in a sleeve in their hands and don't get stolen o_O

That being said, a backpack distributes weight way better than a messenger bag; that much is fact.

wow i just got flamed for supporting a messenger bag...geez

at least here I can carry my laptop in a bag and its all good, and better to carry around, considering how it doesnt fit my normal backpack and only a Gap one I have...

And if you get stolen in a campus while carrying your laptop with you, wow either youre unlucky or very distracted...I dont leave mine ever. And if I do it is with someone I trust.

Pretty much what I thought when I read that post. I have used a messenger bag for the best part of the last 5 years with my notebook. I live in one of the most densely populated cities in the world and travel through some of the busiest airports.

Of course, it depends on situation, if I am going to be carry a large load with me I am going to use a backpack, I am not interested in injuring myself for stupid reasons.

But I don't see a valid arguement in security reasons. Of course, I don't know where you live.

Bad Company 2 is so bugged. This game was hardly ready for release. I'm sad I dropped $50 on a broken game. Now I have to wait 1-year before they get all the kinks get worked out and by then I will have lost interest.

PC games just keep getting worse and worse. :(

yea, I think I have decided to skip buying BFBC2 until a later time when I have a computer which can comfortably run it. Either that or scrap the whole thing and start playing with this 360 I just bought. Atleast I got a solid 2-years out of my m860tu until I encountered something I wasn't sure i'd be able to run... sigh..

I used a messenger bag before, but nor for a laptop. Arguably carrying a College Biology book is probably equivalent in terms of weight and shape lol :p

I find that messenger bags can be useful if you've got less stuff to carry(they're less bulky than backpacks), but for more weighted items I prefer a backpack.

Mind you, I'll start bringing my lappy to Uni this fall so we'll see ;)

Thanks! I have no idea why it is a bad idea to travel with a messenger bag, especially if you want to travel lightly, it keeps things organized, small and easy to take, not to mention it looks better :wink: and if you have bigger luggage you can carry all that together with no problems, as in a backpack you cant...

And for uni it is quite comfortable when carrying the Envy. This laptop is quite big, and a backpack sometimes just doesnt cut it...but now im forced to use a backpack, since I ride my bike now...instead of walking 15 minutes, I pedal 5-7 now and walk 2 a lot faster ^_^
