No point since I'm not the only one complaining. Patch is coming.

Console gets a bigger font increase than PC though, so it still might not satisfy you
-
It doesn't need to be a massive increase.
-
So I tried to do that but FullScreenMode was already set to 2.
But now it's working as it should. I don't understand, I didn't change anything... (not complaining though!)Mr Najsman likes this. -
I have this same bug too. It happens sometimes. I couldn't figure it out yet.

Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Just for the heck of it, I downloaded the Polish and German language packs and played the game in those languages, with English subtitles, of course.
I can say that the Polish voice acting is much better than the already excellent voice acting for the English version (and they have British accents too - what more do I have to expect?). The German one is approximately the same quality as English, given that I can understand ein bisschen Deutsch.
Now, if only CDPR would include a British English strings pack. Has anyone managed to decode the .w3strings files in /content/? I'd like to mod them. It's strangely jarring to hear British accents but read American English. Nothing against it, of course - it's just armor vs armour, fiber vs fibre, blinkers vs blinders, -ise vs -ize. -
For years it wasn't an issue. All my time with the 650M and 780M were flawless with no game ever refusing to go into full screen mode.
This is a new trend that started last year and I really don't like it. Dragon Age Inquisition is the worst offender. It just outright refuses to go into fullscreen mode at all. Absolute joke.
I don't blame NVIDIA, because until recently it was all fine, proving it can work smoothly when devs code their games properly. -
That's what's broken about it. Scaling based on resolution means that what looks good at 1080p on a 15" screen will look bad at 1080p on a 55" screen and vice-versa.
Good UI scaling is based on dot pitch. Few PC games, if any, do this. -
Dragon age inquisition is the worst coded turd I have encountered in the form of a big release in a long long time. Makes ubisoft look like Leonardo davinci.
Not to mention I absolutely hate its cheesy art style. Don't know what I was expecting from the dragon age franchise tbh -
Hmmm... it played up again just now, refusing to even launch at all. Then I restarted Windows and it was behaving itself again. Very erratic - not good.
Anyways, when the game actually works it looks freakin' amazing. Sure a hell of a lot worse than the pre-release footage, but still absolutely gorgeous. That sunrise in the beginning section... oh my.
Performance dropped significantly after exiting the tutorial, as I feared it would. Still gives fairly consistent performance, with no erratic large drops, which is very nice. Hovers between 30-40fps, staying closer to 30fps on average, unfortunately dropping into the mid 20's during some cutscenes. But that's with all the graphics sliders turned up to the max, so I guess it's not too bad. It seems playable enough. Disabling HairWorks nets an instant 10fps gain but I think I'll keep it enabled - especially considering future patches will hopefully help. -
It is based on dot pitch. You're bringing the external factor of view distance into the equation. Idk how devs account for that variable, short of providing manual tuning for UI scaling and text size which so few games do. BF4 and Sleeping Dogs are the only ones in recent memory I can think of which have this.
-
Yeah, see, this makes you part of the problem. Viewing distance isn't an external factor. It's a primary factor. It's where the user is. You know, the user, as in "user interface"? The entire reason user interfaces exist?
Devs don't account for it because it's hard while scaling with resolution is easy and never mind the text scaling problems that players gripe about.
But I seem to be repeating myself.... -
How does this make me part of the problem? If I were in charge, I'd make separate UIs for KBM, controller, PC, and TV.
-
Good luck with that because now you're making four different UI variants for one game: console with controller and small TV, console with controller and large TV, PC with controller, PC with keyboard/mouse. If you're targeting Steam as a distribution platform then it behooves you to consider four more UI variants: PC with controller and small TV, PC with controller and large TV, PC with keyboard/mouse and small TV, PC with keyboard/mouse and large TV. None of these cover users who use a mix of controller and keyboard so that's another three(?) more UI variants. That's at least 11 different UI variants that you need to design, mock up, implement and test if you want to cover all of the different interface and display combinations out there.
Good UI design is hard... I'm definitely repeating myself. -
So the dev either reaches for the low-hanging fruit by designing a UI for the target audience of that particular game/genre and platform, or provides enough manual UI tweaking controls to allow for end-user customization. Does this answer your question?
And yes, you're definitely repeating yourself. Seems to be a habit of yours. -
It wasn't a question.

^^^Mhmmm, I'm loving this game more and more, and I still haven't played it!

How's that new desktop coming along?

Hopefully I should have it at the end of this month. -
Guys, Plz help. I am stuck in the below objective in Witcher 3,found everything in the castle still game is not progressing.

What? Now you can play your beloved flight sims *The way it's meant to be played* (tee hee)

So how does the game work on Windows 10? I'm really annoyed with this stupid maintenance garbage that I can't turn off in 8.1 no matter what I do so I want to try 10 but I'm curious how games perform on 10 right now.
-
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Still kind of broken. Haven't tried Witcher 3 per sé but 3D graphics in general seem to be messed up in Windows 10 - even CoD BO and BO2 crash with the latest drivers. You might consider waiting for RTM. -
Are you on fast ring? Fast ring should be getting close to RTM.
-
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Yeah, fast ring. But as everyone says, it's still quite buggy. Let's hope 2 months are enough for M$ to iron out everything - apparently they are nearing code completion and lockdown. -
Well its Microsoft so its more likely to be 2 years before they have everything ironed out.
I ended up with both a local and a Microsoft account thanks to a freeze after the install finished. Since I've used the TP before but with legacy boot, I'm going to assume it doesn't get along entirely with Clevo's EFI which could be problematic later. Anyway since this is the TW3 thread I'll post my findings later

And run them at 30 FPS no less! -
Windows 10 performance is quite bad... which is odd... because the frame rate is extremely high but even with the lowest settings, it stutters every few seconds. Such a shame because everything else I've thrown at W10 has actually performed better than in 8.1 so far.
The nice thing is that TW3 has to be one of the first games I've ever seen outside of Steam games that does not have to be reinstalled when you dual boot a second operating system. I copied my Witcher 3 folder to my document folder on W10 and just launched the game. Nothing else needed to be done.Ionising_Radiation likes this. -
They'll fix it. Windows 10 that is.
-
I found a fix. Disable SLI. Game looks better at 35FPS on single GPU than it does at 65FPS in SLI. nVidia broke SLI it seems.
-
Gon'na add that image to my signature for my next gaming laptop.
-
Has everyone played the first two games? If not, why?
-
No. I'm somewhere late (I think) in Chapter 1 of the first game right now. Never even started the second.
Why? Because too many other games on the pile to play, never got around to picking them up until a few months ago when GOG ran a pre-order sale that got me the first game for free. -
No, I own them but just didn't seem to get into them. Maybe some day soon.
-
I played both of them, mainly for the story and way better choices than Bioware does. I didn't mind the way TW1 was designed because I spent year playing Neverwinter Nights online. With TW2 I hated pretty much every aspect of the gameplay, especially the controls and how things changed so that half a year later they could announce a console version. What do you want to ask? (I also read all the books but the recent collection of short stories.)
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
I played TW1. Loved the heck out of it.
TW2 I tried, but it doesn't run properly on my current PC. Even after EE. -
I started Witcher 1 over a year ago. Took two long breaks for some reason but really got into it and finished it a month ago.
Currently at the later parts of Witcher 2. I like that one a lot too and it plays like a champ on my ZM.
Witcher 3 code is waiting at the bottom of my ZM-box
The general concensus seems to be you can certainly play Witcher 3 without having played the first two, but you miss out a lot especially regarding the characters. -
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
I started on an RPG rampage late last year, starting with Skyrim (yes, I got it exactly 3 years after release). Then I wanted more, because Skyrim felt boring after a while. In that, I've got some 40-odd side-quests and the main quest still incomplete after nearly 200 hours of gameplay - I was supposed to sneak into the Thalmor Embassy. Then I discovered the The Witcher series, and have gotten hooked, and purchased TW2 as it was 85% off on Steam.
Despite all the complaints, I've got to say, The Witcher 3 is excellent. Each side quest has such a rich story to it, and it shows the brutal side of war with no frills attached. Kids die because of your choices, women get raped, people get hanged or massacred.
You're no superhero either. In Skyrim, after a certain level (around 40 or so), killing dragons becomes easy-peasy but I could only kill a level 10 wraith only after exceeding its own level. This game makes you think about every attack and plan your strategy beforehand - you get surrounded even by noob Drowners or Nekkers, you're screwed because they attack very quickly, and you can lose health as quickly. You also can't just spam potions to regain health (ahem Skyrim's Potions of Restore Health). -
I got bored of Witcher 1, just didn't interest me. I got somewhat deep into Witcher 2 but never finished it. But I'm just that way.

Started the Witcher 1 at release, didn't get into it, finished it when the EE released. Started the Witcher 2 at release, didn't get into it, finished when the EE released. Started the Witcher 3 at release, loved it, can't continue until they fix the dang XP quest bug... so will most likely finish it when the EE is released.

This game even has a 50 Shades of Grey reference.
When speaking to Zoltan Chivay about Dandelion's many escapades, ask about Marabella. Apparently she called him 'Christian' and she called herself 'Anastasia' when they were.. frolicking. -

Sure took you a while before you've noticed it

How mighty have fallen... -
I bought the first one from gamesplanet, it was the only place I could buy it digitally. Damn I loved that game.. was waiting for it to come out for like a year or so. Read the books.. Dug the second one as well. I just fell in love with the world and the characters.
-
After you've finished up with The Witcher series I recommend you check out the older Elder Scrolls games, specifically Oblivion and Morrowind. You might get some fun out of them.
