man with my 980M i can practically run this at 1080p30 on ultra settings (no hairworks).
-
-
I can run at 1080p30 with hairworks. I do have a small overclock of +125/+100 but looking at your signature your 980M can go higher than that so it should be good to go.
-
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
That sounds a little low. The 980M is around 70% as powerful as a desktop 980... You should be getting 45-50 FPS easy. -
i'm using the in game 30fps cap so it's fine: anything 3rd person 30fps is fine.
i think mine is +100/+300 but will have to double check. -
I've got the latest driver 353.06. If you haven't that could be why we're seeing such different performance.
Though I suppose with an open world game like this out depends where we are in the world.
I've only explored the opening area, after the dream tutorial sequence when they attacked by all the hairy beasties in the sunrise wooded area - so it should be a demanding enough section to compare. -
I am also using 353.06.
-
Which part of the open world did you measure your performance? If I can travel to that same location then we compare more reliably. Then we'll know if it's expected or if there's something funky going on with your game.
980Ms should perform identically.
Unless it's because I have Prema's fantastic VBIOS mod installed? -
I have svl7 vbios, should I flash it to prema's?
-
Well it shouldn't really make a difference if they're both doing what they're supposed to do - eliminate throttling and unlock overclocking etc.
My best guess is that it's just because we're exploring different parts of the game world. Which is depressing, as it means I should expect my performance to drop as I get further into the game. I thought the opening section in the woods with all the hairy monsters would have been demanding enough... -
Doesn't svl7 come with a stock overclock to like 1200MHz and a 1v undervolt? Your performance is worse than mine too. You made sure its full screen, not borderless window right?
-
it does; it clocks at 1.2ghz @ 1v. should i flash prema's mod instead?
it's in an open area with a decent level of vegetation. -
For troubleshooting maybe but Prema's isn't overclocked so you technically should be having better performance. Not to mention I'm on stock vbios and can't maintain 1226MHz without power limit throttle.
I keep wanting to try svl7s but I don't know how well it works on the SM-A machines. I had so many problems with the 880M vbios that it makes me nervous. -
oh ok, so best to stick with svl7 then cos i haven't seen much throttling in games or in 3dmark11.
-
Is is just me or was TW2 looking better than TW3 in terms of graphics?

Prema removed the power limit entirely in his vbios mod lol.

That's a lot of fixes for one patch. I think I'll hold off until it has been confirmed that this patch doesn't introduce more bugs.
-
So flash to prema or stick with svl7?
-
Hey, is 1.05 patch compatible with previous versions?
-
?????
-
Maybe he meant the save game compatibility, which a lot of people have problem when migrating to the newer patch.
-
Yeah I meant that. What else could I mean anyway. Is it save compatible?

Oh wait, your first post was a sarcasm? Lol'd so hard, not even angry. Or maybe I took the bait again.
True, I'm still naive around here BUT only in foreign forums, you should see me on local
It's the latter, thanks alot

Sarcasm? Me? When?
I'm not clever enough for sarcasm. True story. -

Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Was it Kaedweni Stout? Redanian Lager?
This is barely a third of the full change log. Man, 1.5 is a HUGE update. See here.
P.S. When I typed "Kaedweni" my phone attempted to auto-correct it to "Kardashian". I nearly smashed my phone.Last edited: Jun 5, 2015 -
Technically speaking, Prema should be slower since he does stock clocks @ 1.062v with his mod. Would be interesting to see if there is indeed a difference though.
-
ah, cos i am trying to find out what the differences are.
-
Prema uses stock clocks and the average ASIC assigned voltage of 1.062v for stability and removes the power limit entirely.
Svl7 has a stock overclock accompanied by an undervolt to 1v and I believe has an adjustable power target rather than removing it entirely. Someone who is using his vbios would have to confirm the last part. -
Are you sure that's not including the 1.03 and 1.04 change logs? Because 1.05 rolls up 1.03 and 1.04 into a single bundle.
-
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Doesn't look like it - I don't recognise any of the fixes from 1.03/1.04 in the list. -
Mine's at 1.0500V stock though so...
-
He's talking about MXM. Your 980M is BGA.
-
I blew Prema away with my master... ASIC assigns 1.018v to it. He said that Clevo average is 1.062v and that they must have cherry picked my cards - one of them is 78.8% ASIC and the other is 72.7%
By the way, can someone tell me if you can undervolt with svl7's? -
So far so good. I never have save game compatibility issues with this game.
Ptooey, i just saw the full changelog, that's a lot. Somehow the official website was unavailable last night. -
1.05 is a huge update. Pleased with that.
-
Have bug with some quests and contact with support, I can't take quests amd finish them
-
Oops, it looks like I misunderstood. I thought you said regarding file size and ADD read *NOT* pleased with that.
It is? It's same size, actually smaller than the others. 283MB is all.

I've been using their GOG Galaxy client. It works fine for me. It's only one file, and updates are automated.

Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Has anyone noticed that each DLC adds an additional program listing to the "Programs and Features" pane in Control Panel? That means by the time the free DLC program ends, there'll be 17 extra programs, all for TW3. WTF, CDPR? I'm currently updating Windows 10, so I can't take a screenshot... If anyone can, please post it here...
-
Maybe they want to make it easier for their costumer to uninstall it, if they decide they didn't like one particular DLC rather than uninstall the complete package and can't keep the other DLCs.
-
Yeah seems like a smart implementation
-
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Yes, but it seems unnecessary to create extra listings in the Control Panel when you can control what DLCs you have/don't have in GOG itself. On Steam, this doesn't happen. Imagine if you got a game like Civ V/Train Simulator which have some twenty-five DLC, and you had 25 extra listings in Control Panel to sift through. It's only 6 now. You'll probably get at least slightly annoyed when there are 10 more after all the DLC have been released. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Yes, but OCD...
At least Valve has done something right with DLCs on Steam... -
Not all of us want to fuss with another client on our machines. It's bad enough I have Origin, uPlay, and Steam. I don't care how many uninstall entries it creates, if I choose to uninstall it I'll just delete the game folder.
-

Oh I hear you. Every time I'm done playing some Ubisoft game, I throw out YUNOPLAY.
I'm just saying that I like how Valve tackled DLC thing in Steam. I wonder if one installs TW3 and DLC through Galaxy, but they still get all those uninstallers. -
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Yep - my copies of TW3 and the DLC were installed by Galaxy, and I still get the un-installers.killkenny1 likes this.
