I wasn't talking about DRM specifically, just that the success of GOG might have a little something to do with CDPR not nickel-and-diming gamers for DLC like most other companies do.

Why does every gamer these days claim to be a software engineer or hardware developer. It must be why games have gone down the pan, all the best coders are unemployed trolls on game forums

    are you unemployed

Bad news everyone! The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt

19th May is the day before my birthday. This delay is so that CD Projekt RED can give me a birthday present, obviously.

I recently saw their Dragon Age ones to make up for skipping the first two games before plunging into Inquisition, they're really good. What with the latest delay though, I should have plenty of time to play the first two Witcher games before May.

This game looks pretty neat especially the last batch of videos and trailers but it sure does look pretty demanding. I cant wait to see if my poor ol lappy with its dual core and 1gb ati 5xxx series can event start this thing. I hope the pc version will be optimized and have some decent sliders and low settings at least until I upgrade to something else. If not i'll be disappointed I wont be able to play this. To be fair though I can't complain since dragon age3, mgs5, evil within and even GtaV are playable for me so I can use those to keep me entertained before I upgrade.

I really would really like to play the witcher 3

    These are the requirements

    Minimum System Requirements
    • Intel CPU Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz
    • AMD CPU Phenom II X4 940
    • Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 660
    • AMD GPU Radeon HD 7870
    • RAM 6GB
    • OS 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)
    • DirectX 11
    • HDD Space 40 GB
    Recommended System Requirements
    • Intel CPU Core i7 3770 3,4 GHz
    • AMD CPU AMD FX-8350 4 GHz
    • Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 770
    • AMD GPU Radeon R9 290
    • RAM 8GB
    • OS 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)
    • DirectX 11
    • HDD Space 40 GB

    My computer alienwareM17xr3

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2760QM CPU @ 2.40GHz
    AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series
    Tam 8Gb

I'm assuming I wont be able to run the game at all. I tried to run Dragon age 3 on this laptop but it failed to run at a level that was playable. I'm thinking it'll be the same for withcer 3. Any opinion would be appreciated.

I believe witcher 3 will be much more taxing on the hardware than DA-Inquisition ... Your R3 can upgrade to GTX680m which will be a significant improvement over your AMD6990m ... You should look into that upgrade if you plan on keeping that machine for gaming

    660/7870 >= 7970M

Would be a good idea to look into a GPU upgrade since your 6990M doesn't meet the minimum requirement. Witcher 3 will almost certainly be more taxing than DA:I.

Alright, I've got a plan. I've got GCE 'A' Levels at the end of this year, and I pre-ordered Witcher 3. I've got mid-year holidays from the 29th of May, and I've got common tests when those holidays end in the last days of June. So when The Witcher 3 unlocks on the 19th of May, 9 AM my time (I'll still be in school then), I'll get back home after school and download it on the insanely fast Steam servers in Singapore. I've attained maximum download speeds in excess of 20 MB/s on those servers. Then I give myself 10 days to play the hell out of the game, and when the 'holidays' start, I'll ask my parents to lock up my laptop. Mug through the break, get a couple of 'A's, feel good about myself and continue mugging for 'A' Levels. Get straight 'A's, do SATs and get scores exceeding 2350/2400. Ask laptop back from parents and play the hell out of The Witcher 3, GTA V, Skyrim, Civ V, the new Portal Stories: Mel and Conversion mods for Portal 2 and just slack off until I get enlisted and conscripted for compulsory military service.

Furthermore, I also plan to pick up several skills like advanced astrophysics, photography, programming in Objective-C and Swift, and 3D modelling. If possible, sign up at a flying club and get a private pilot's licence. Or be assigned a pilot vocation during my military service.

On a side note, how likely am I to get 30-45 FPS on medium-high settings on the laptop in my sig? I will probably get a desktop or a better laptop next year.

Nice! Texture popins max 20m ahead of Geralt on the straw roofs, hope that's an isolated issue (or console-gameplay).

She loves Lord of the Rings (we've played the Lego game and the boardgame) and I so wanna show her the movies but they're still to violent for her.

Yeah my kids like playing the Lego version of Indiana Jones, Pirates of Caribbean, Harry Potter, and a few others, but just too young for the movies. So they don't quite understand my chuckling at some things from the movies that are in the game. It will be fun when they can actually watch those movies.

    So has anyone here pre-ordered?

Nope, but this game comes with a purchase of 970/960, right? In that case, I may get it. Anyone wants to trade it for GTA V? :D

Damn, that's harsh, daddy-o! I bet your son loves bewbs as much as he loves fantasy (even if he maybe doesn't know it yet). IMO, Witcher series are a gift for fantasy buffs because it has three important things in it - fantasy, good story, and bewbs.
With formula like that you can't go wrong. That's why for me TES and DA will never come close to Witcher. TES needs mods for bews (unfortunately story isn't moddable), and DA lacks the story (assemble an army for the third time doesn't count).

You might let them read the Harry Potter books first - they don't get too weird, i.e. violent until Goblet of Fire and onwards. In fact I doubt if the books are violent at all.

I just preordered it last Sunday.

I'm glad to hear this actually, especially with all the crap valve is doing lately including the whole pay for mods fiasco going on. I rather support gog than steam since steam is getting greedier by the minute, not to mention how annoying constant drm is.

I'm going to be away at a conference when this game releases. Won't be able to play until the 23rd at the earliest

I wonder if it's worth pre-ordering. They have got that nice discount for pre-orders. And I'm definitely playing this game as soon as I can (though I need to play through the first two games asap, time's running out, but I'm currently deep into Dark Souls II: SOTFS - ahhhhh!). I'm probably going to pre-order. I trust CD Projekt RED to deliver a working product, no question about that.

No one really knows, but you can (probably) expect 40-50 FPS at medium-high settings and 1080p, assuming that the minimum and recommended specs are actually for running the game on really high settings.

I think you mean co-op. What the heck would you do in Witcher multiplayer? It's not the kind of game that translates well into an MMORPG. They already tried it with KOTOR and TES and failed. They're called SWTOR and ESO.

I agree. It would be fun to be able to add up to four players total co-op. But I also like it because there are so few quality single player games any more. Some of us just like to pop on our headphones, and game on. I guess I'm just old school that way. Only a few of my friends game online anymore, granted I'm also in my early 40's now, so understandable. But I really enjoy some quality single player games.

Problem is probably 95% of AAA titles focus on multiplayer only any more. Single player campaign is just an afterthought.

But being able to play with another buddy or two would also be good fun.

Just having the option would be nice. I'm not suggesting it be 100% multiplayer. Playing alone to relax and whatnot is something I completely understand, and is partially why I buy gaming PC's as opposed to traditional business laptops.

But hey, to each his own.

Loaded question (it's not really about who's hotter), but it's obviously Triss. Also it kinda creeps me out that Yennefer is 94 even though she doesn't look it due to her magic.

I will choose Triss when it comes to that point in the game.
