Anyone has managed to keep trader's brother-in-law alive in Fake Papers quest? I'm having a hard time keeping him alive. His bro has fighting skills of 3 year old and overall is an idiot. Not that I need those papers (I already have them), but don't like failing quests.

I skipped the quest since I already got the papers. Suggest you sheathe your sword and fist-fight, maybe? -

Fist fight who, brother-in-law, merchant, ghouls, or all of the above?
I also got the papers, but my OCD doesn't let me go past this quest... -

So, anyone knows where to get better Gwent cards? Have hard time beating someone when they spam the table with +10 cards, when all I have are some measly +5 cards. Ran around innkeepers, but all they got left now are only +1 crap...
-
I still haven't quite figured out this game. But yeah more cards would be nice. I hit him up first round and am all proud, then realize I don't have anything left to fight back with.
-

The rules are fairly easy. Also, going all out on the first round is not very smart, unless you have some special cards, which let you get back some of the cards you've played later on (i.e. Decoy) and want to trick opponent into playing his strongest cards first, and then forfeit the round.
Ah whatever. Probably gonna concentrate a bit on Novigrad for now. All quests I had for my current level in Velen are completed, so maybe I'll focus on getting back with Triss (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) -
Just found a bugged quest Skellige's Most Wanted, the werewolf can't die.
-
In regards to Gwent:
Any of the Gwent Quests opponents offer high end cards. I've found that most the ones you play from NPCs are best for building out a deck but nothing really good.
Spy cards are your friend, just need to use them at the right time. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Problem is, I can't get them without winning, and I can't win without them...
Oh well, back to searching inns for more cards...
Oh, and I finally installed "No intros/storybook loading screens." So much better! Can't believe CDPR didn't make an option to turn off storybook loading screens... This is among my biggest issues in this game, others being draw distance/LOD and a few bugs here and there.
Oh, and I ran into Lambert. SPOILER WARNING - he's such an idiot. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Hmmm, I think this quest has a bug too... -
Man, I am torn between playing witcher 3 or alien isolation. I think I will give alien isolation the nod first, because it is bound to be much shorter haha.
Both are fantastic games

Alien Isolation IS a fantastic game. My only grudge notes are A.) the AI of the Alien is a little too smart at times. B.) The game has too many climaxes ("this is the end right, nope."). It's a good 15-20 hour game.

I FREAKIN' HATE PROTECTION QUESTS!!!
First there was this brother-in-law chap, now this guy with black pearl. Man, Velen and Novigrad are full of pansies, can't even take a hit from a ghoul...
By the way, Skyrim Skeelige sure looks beautiful.
Yeah, sounds like a good plan. TW3 is a long game, so you better off with starting from a shorter game.
On a side note - I can't...stop...playing this game!Last edited: Jul 23, 2015 -
Had a couple hours to play this afternoon, first in a few weeks and the first time trying the new 1.07 post patch movement style... two thoughts came to mind:
1) I freaking love this game ha, the world, the tales, the gameplay, great stuff!
2) I really like the new movement mechanics! Geralt just turned so WIIIIIDE before, wasn't a deal breaker, but this feels much better now.
Great game made even better

I know that feel.
Been playing it for the entire day today. Finally made some progress with Gwent, beat few opponents and got a couple of special cards, did some contracts, treasure hunts, and encountered a few more bugs. Today certainly was a good day!
On the bright side, I finally finished that Black Pearl quest. Took a bit of unorthodox thinking (and googling), but I finally did it.
His jumping animation still lucks funny though

It's sure nice to have, but I usually just sell all my crap, except for trophies. -
does food go bad in the game?
-
I don't think so, I have only played about 20 hours so far but none of mine has so far.
-
it should: would make managing resources interesting.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
No, but you can find some rotten food. -
I'm a hoarder ha and loot/keep everything ha! I've yet to find anywhere to sell my crap for a fair price!! I love the new stash for this reason
Just spent an hour sailing a boat in the Novigrad general area, doing nothing but scoping out the lay of the land and enjoying the scenery... amazing the things you can find and just the atmosphere of the game world. They did a great job, despite the odd bug here and there that is inevitable. To anyone that hasn't played this game, give it a try! 40 hours in and feel like I just broke the surface! -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Good luck to you then. It's gonna be hard. But generally big city merchants offer better prices. Also try to sell stuff according to its category (i.e. weapons/armour to blacksmiths, etc.).
You should see Skeelige. My oh my...
So what difficulty you guys are playing? I first started out on normal, currently playing on hard, but I may switch to hardest setting. -
You know white men can't jump ha
Yeah, that's my next main quest, just been cleaning up some local stuff first before setting sail that way... after ~40 hours I'm still only a level 9. Maybe I'm slow ha
I just checked, playing on "Story and Sword" but haven't tried other options.killkenny1 likes this. -

Maybe so, but he has all teh right movez when it comes to talking to wiminz.
Yeah, I'm doing the same, trying to explore surroundings first. I do get bored from question marks or treasure hunts once in a while, so that's when I do a secondary/contract/main quest. I actually sailed to Skeelige only because some guy in Novigrad asked me to get him a black pearl, though I had a couple on me...
I'm currently level 16, I think. Or maybe 15. Anyway I have been binge playing TW3 for three days now. Dunno how much time I've spent in-game, but I try to do/explore everything I see on my way. I will be away on the weekend, so you'll have time to catch up to me
.
How are you finding it? I started with it as well, but soon after I leveled up to, like, level 10, I found it a bit too easy and it made the gameplay less interesting. Now on hard I do use more "witcher tools" (potions, oils, combat tactics, etc), and it truly is "the way it's meant to be played", though I still had no trouble killing a bunch of higher level monsters (around 4-6 levels higher). When I'll get back I'm gonna try out the Death March difficulty, see how it feels.
This actually reminds me my experience with TW1 a bit. Back in the day I played it on normal, and Act I (Outskirts of Vizima) felt really hard to me, but with every act the game got easier and easier. Guess I've made Geralt into a badarse sex killing machine.
Speaking about levels, it's kinda funny when you complete a low level quest in TW3 you only get, like, 1-2 epx points (not counting the ones you get from quest dialogs). Damn ripoff!

He's got scars and muscles and long flowing hair too. He's a BAMF version of Fabio.

gdi...why did you have to ruin Geralt for me >_<
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
So, why do you guys even know about him?
-
He's the butt of jokes...
-
he's pretty much the embodiment of those trashy romance novels.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
OK, but why would you read a romance novel?
Though there's this one romance novel I read back in the day and really liked it. It's called American Psycho. Dunno if you guys heard about it, but it's a pretty good one. -
i don't read them but have you seen the covers of such books?
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Noop!
Anyway, you guys, you should stop comparing Geralt to that bunghole. Seriously, after playing TW3 for some time I now put Geralt among my all time favorite video game characters. -
i wasn't comparing him, i was giving context LOL
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Well Wingnutz was...
-
Gotta admit the likeness is shocking ha... he was "popular" 20+ years ago. I still remember when the bird smashed him on Busch Gardens' Apollo's Charriot, as it wasn't far from where I was living at the time and went to the park regularly. Funny stuff, fun roller coaster at the time but I haven't been back in years.
-
Wow, can't believe no one mentioned this, but Fabio was on the cover of Wizards & Warriors 2: IronSword...
-
Oh so that's Fabio. Damn I see him every time I go to Safeway.
-
Because he's, like, the male equivalent of Cindy Crawford or Claudia Schiffer: ubiquitous during the 1980s and 1990s.
-
and yet no one cares any more!
-
Nah. We're just old.
-
that too! LOL
-

Can't wait till I get back tomorrow, gonna play me some TW3 and straighten this thread up, both figuratively and literally.

My brother's new desktop 970 plays the game much smoother than my overclocked 980M can. Boo :/
