I rarely pre-order but I just did for this one. 10% off isn't much but I'll support CDPR. Hopefully I can find the time to play.
-
I actually was lucky enough to receive a couple copies free with GPU purchases. So, I'm excited either way.
One hell of a free game.
-
Yeah, probably is.

Yeah.. I specifically pre-ordered from GoG the minute they put that up in order to get the most amount of that cash going to CDPR as possible.

I don't like to have multiple clients but considering this is Gog.com and DRM free, it's a no brainer to order direct from Gog.com.
BTW I just got a Galaxy Client alpha key. The interface is pretty sparse at the moment, but definitely looking to make it a "Steam-like" experience. The only issue that GOG.com might run into is with devs who don't want to offer games without DRM, especially newer titles.Ionising_Radiation likes this. -

Indeed. I like to have all my games in one place - cleaner and easier to organise. But after Valve's recent joke, I have some reservations about Steam now, and the DRM-free policy of GOG.com looks very enticing.
I just sent in a Steam support ticket to cancel my pre-order and refund my debit card. -
Just beware that they will push to give you Steam credits instead of cash back to your debit card.
-

Not gonna budge - the game isn't even released, and worst case I'll accept a temp ban on my Steam account while they credit money back to my bank account. I don't want Valve to take my money into their system when I haven't even consumed the game...
Another reason to go to GOG. Full refunds within 30 days of purchasing the game. If it's preordered, within 30 days of game release. -

Let's see if Steam support even replies before the game is released. Their support ticket system is slooooow.

Yup, it can take a while. Give it 2-3 days to get back to you... -

Ho hum. I sent in my support ticket Seattle time Thursday, 30 April, 8:45pm. I just hope they reply within the week. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Lolwut.
I guess I'm lucky it only took me 3 days max to get the answer. -
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Yeah, well. They took six days to reply to a previous ticket I sent in 2013. -
Is this actually stated anywhere? I want to buy it on Steam but would like to redeem the key on GOG as well like we all did with TW1&2, but have read many posts elsewhere thinking this won't be an option. Personally, I tend to think they won't allow Steam keys on GOG this time since they are going to be pushing their new "Galaxy", but would love to be wrong.
Either way, definitely will be pre-ordering while I can get the 20% off, just trying to decide where. Don't care about any of the digital "freebies".
Also recently got the Galaxy Alpha invite, it's ok, but very basic. -
You get a complimentary copy of NWN Diamond if you pre-order on GOG. Not sure if you get that for Steam pre-order.
-
Oh.. I think I might not have gotten that, I already had it thorough GoG. Unless I gave it away and don't remember.
I've had a galaxy key for a while, I have not really been using it though. -
Curious to see where they take Galaxy, but I can't help but feel they just want to be another (or in their minds the "next") Steam. At this point it's very early and useless, but I wonder where they want to take it.
I'll end up buying from Steam, as I prefer the platform, but still would like a GOG key! -
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
With GOG's version of The Witcher 2, I can directly launch the executable. No need for a client at all. I haven't had that feeling in several years... Just pop the game in and play. -
I've been seeing a lot of gameplay video's pop up on youtube, with most mentioning that it ran on Ultra on a single 980, and an i7 processor 8GB RAM. However, none of them talk about how this would perform on a 980M. I have the Sager 8652 laptop, 980M, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD and was wondering if I can run this on max settings at 60 FPS and 1080p.
Any thoughts? -
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Max settings, 60 FPS, 1080p - not guaranteed. Not all the time, at least. But no one really knows much yet. You'll have to wait for May 19 when people get the game and try out the different settings. -
I doubt you'll be able to with MSAA turned up, just as you can't with most other new games.

MSAA looks extremely resource-intensive, and on small screens (like those in laptops) the effect is minimal. I crank MSAA up to x8 in GTA V, it looks barely any different from MSAA x2. -
You have a 13" 1080p screen though. The difference is much more pronounced on a lower density screen, say 17" or 18" 1080p. Even on my 15" 1080p, I can easily tell the difference between 2x and 4x MSAA. All that being said, 4x MSAA if it's done well (which is a tough act for most deferred engines nowadays) is just about the visual ceiling for laptop displays. 8x is nigh indistinguishable from 4x except on the frame rate counter.

Fair enough - especially on a 20+ inch 1080p monitor, the difference is huge.
Aaanyway, Steam finally replied, and I'll get funds credited back to my bank soon. It's a pity that GOG doesn't price its products by country, as Steam does now. So I'll have to pay about $4 more at GOG, but that's a small price to pay for DRM-free installs. -
Eh? GOG does have regional pricing. It just doesn't region lock its games like Steam does in addition to being DRM-free.

Indeed, but not in Singapore dollars - only in Euros and the Pound Sterling. After the 15% discount, TW3 costs US$50.99 on GOG, and S$63.66 on Steam. US$50.99 is about S$67.50. -

Even with my GOG loyalty discount im ending up at 50 dollars due to them charging in euros. This is a steal compared to GOG at the moment.

Maybe he wants to run two instances of TW3, uber-sampled and max settings on the same laptop. Well, why not? He'll get a pile of molten plastic, metal and silicon, worst case... But 100% worth it.
We still get all the freebies, don't we? I'd like NWN Diamond... -
I'll take one, is it gog?

yes i believe so, PM me if you want to purchase -
Unfortunately you do not get the pre-order bonuses. Those are exclusive to GOG.

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Still cheaper to get TW3 on GMG and then buy NWN Gold from GOG
.
-
Good point. The digital comic book included with the GOG pre-order isn't worth anything anyway.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Now if CDPR would add some nude Triss pics into that comic that would be a whole different story. -
Since we already had that in Witcher 2, I think Witcher 3 will have a Playboy spread of Yenn

And this for all them Geralt/Yennefer shippers:

Anyone happened to chance by the CDPR forums? There's a massive discussion about an alleged "graphics downgrade" when comparing the 2013 and this year's builds...
Unless, as several have speculated, the lower-quality shots are actually from console gameplay. Hopefully this is the case.
