A 980m is better than a 770, so what's the problem?
-
Hardly, and a 970m is slightly worse than a 770, so that'd be some ridiculous optimization.
-
There's no comparable game for now to blame TW3 optimization. Let's see the devs' work in some months. CD Projekt are quite talkative now, i'm sure we'll get updates on the optimization.
-
lol the fail.. Hopefully it's better optimised by release or we are going to have quite a bit of uproar..
-
I remember playing crysis with my back then high end gaming laptop trying to muster constant 30fps at 1080p. When I initially played it with my 9500m GS from nvidia, I had to play medium to low settings at low res hahaha.
Its weird running Witcher 2 ultra with ubersampling at 60fps now though. Seems unreal.moviemarketing likes this. -
Looks like every gameworks game coming out has been problematic in one way or another. FC4, ACUnity, Watch Dogs, etc. I don't think Witcher 3 is going to be better.
Even the Witcher developers were disgusted Nvidia putting up barriers:

The only GPU specific item I've seen really useful in concept is Mantle (badly implemented though). Hopefully the OpenGL/DirectX devs will put that to good use. -
You just listed three Ubisoft titles. You need to find the non-Ubisoft, non-Activision, nVidia gameworks titles that suck badly for AMD GPUs without the problem being a CPU bottleneck.
-
Like...Lords of the Fallen? Which seems like your typical GameWorks game: Runs better on Nvidia but still crap on both.
Also AMD drivers having higher CPU overhead than Nvidia drivers doesn't help matters either. -
I actually thought Lords of the Fallen ran fairly badly on many peoples' systems, and it was a result of their new un-hackable DRM, which GTA 5 is set to use. But I'll admit I didn't hunt for them.
That being said, it seems like nVidia's partnerships appear to go to the worst companies. >_<. -
Denuvo is anti-tamper tech that augments DRM, not DRM itself, and has no performance impact. And it was cracked a while back, which is why the games that use it are on the warez sites.

Witcher 2 ultra 60fps with ubersampling on your GT80?moviemarketing likes this.

Part of Gamework's plan might be to help those companies that need a little more help. Nvidia engineers didn't seem like they were crooked in my books (management/PR is a different story). Anyway, Nvidia is full of talented engineers not miracle workers (just ask Ubisoft).
-
Yes, though so far not 60fps all the time. Runs between 45-60 which is still pretty darn good. Some OC should help raise that minimum further.moviemarketing likes this.

I see. I have the same issue. I mean, I guess it's all laptops at the moment. I tested Witcher 2 again Ubersampling with Ultra settings and I get half of the time 60 to 80 then if the game has more enemies, it goes to 45 to 30.

Gimme a 4930MX, 4 x 8GB DDR3 2133MHz RAM sticks, an extra 330W PSU, two 980Ms, the P370EM heatsinks and three days. That's all I need.

His desktop will die laughing at how easily it can run the game.....
-
LOL
No really, the recent player at some convention said the 4790K and 980 had dips to 15FPS whereas the average framerate was near 30. SLI 980 would mean dips to 27-30fps and an average of 50. Tri SLI might add 5 more fps.
This was at 1080 and with settings on medium to high...
How am I supposed to run 1600P with ultra? -
lol... Your X51 won't die.. BTW what monitor do you use with your desktop? Please tell me it isn't the ROG Swift lol..
-
Who the hell said anything about 1600p? I was talking about 480p with my setup

I don't touch ASUS monitors. I would never spend $1000 on a TN panel, even if it's 8-Bit.
I have a U2412M atm, but I'm looking to replace with a better/bigger IPS. I'm only willing to buy IPS...

No thanks, I believe it's a 30hz monitor
nm it's 60hz but I believe there's an issue with it -
I was just wondering, why Geralt is aging so quickly? There's not even 5 years between TW1 and 3 i think but in TW3 he looks like 20 years older than TW1 and 10 older than TW2.

Well maybe they affect witchers in a different way.

Engine improvements allowed the developers to render more wrinkles on The White Wolf's face. And the scruffiness is because he hasn't been on top of his personal hygiene and grooming.

Don't tell me that between

HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
Just got this promo from my new alienware laptop. Looking at the CPU, I think my laptop falls below the minimum (4710hq). Dont think ill be able to play it nicely with mt 17 R2 in my signature, GPU might be fine though.
-
Below the recommended CPU, but not below the minimum one: I think a i7 4710 is better than a i5 2500k.
-
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
it is, as long as my cpu stays at maximum boost clock speeds, which is most likely wont, im going off my base-clock of 2.5ghz, its way below in terms of speed. However, I do have more threads than the 2500k. Either way, i sense trouble running this game, which is sad lol -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
You are saying this like it's the end of the world. Trust me, I've played enough games in my life with PCs below min specs, so you'll be fine! -
If a 3.3GHz haswell i7 is below min req for any game on the planet, that game uses too much CPU power.
I don't care how advanced it is. -
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
lol the only issue I see is the 4710 is 2.5ghz, not 3.3. 3.3ghz only occurs if everything is perfect thermal and power wise and is not permanent. So I wonder if my cpu at its base clock will bottleneck
